  • In this paper, we have analyzed the effects of co-channel, adjacent-channel, and the human shield(Body Blockage) for wideband WLAN based on the IEEE802.11n 40MHz channel bandwidth required for high speed digital signage service. Simulation results show that wideband WLAN can be operated with 78 interferers over 63m distance in co- channel, 80 interferer over 61m distance in adjacent channel. By applying the mitigation method for reducing the interference, we have confirmed that protection distance is improved to 51m using beamforming, and 40m using cognitive radio in co-channel interference. Also body blockage interference is reduced using adaptive channel bandwidth, C/I ratio, beamforming, power control mitigation methodology.

  • Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is a system to system or environment to system phenomenon. The literature survey proved that the Randomized Pulse Width Modulation (RPWM) technique is a promising technique to reduce EMI. A new Constant Trailing Edge, Randomized Pulse Width Modulation (CTERPWM) technique is proposed in this paper. The effect of the proposed RPWM technique for mitigation of conducted-EMI on Cuk converter operating in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) is simulated and tested. In this paper, the analytical expressions for the Power Spectral Density (PSD) are derived for the proposed RPWM technique and are validated by experimental measurements. The effectiveness of the proposed RPWM technique on the mitigation of conducted-EMI is verified comparing simulation and experimental results and it is identified that both the results are almost similar with allowable experimental deviations. The comparative investigation proves that the proposed RPWM technique can mitigate and spread the dominant peaks of conducted-EMI over the complete spectrum for the Cuk converter. Based on the investigation the CTERPWM technique is recommended for adoption.

  • The VLC (visible light communication) system is communication technology using visible rays (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. Also, VLC system has the above advantage about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. However, the signal detection performance for the receiver near the network of transmitter boundary is severely degraded and the transmission efficiency decreased due to the influence of the interference signal from the adjacent networks. In this paper, we propose an interference mitigation method with optical beamforming in VLC systems, and evaluate the reception performance. For the system BER, the proposed optical beamforming transmission demonstrates the performance enhancement compared to the not using the optical beamforming scheme, and up to about 5~6dB SNR performance gain is achieved.

  • The satellite 2.1 GHz frequency bands, 1980-2010 MHz and 2170-2200MHz are allocated for mobile satellite service including satellite IMT, while it does not preclude the use of these bands for mobile services. The concept of an integrated satellite/terrestrial network has been introduced in worldwide because the terrestrial use in these bands adjacent to existing terrestrial IMT bands is attractive to provide mobile broadband services. The integrated satellite/terrestrial infrastructure with a high degree of spectrum utilization efficiency has the ability to provide both multimedia broadband services and public protection and disaster relief solutions. In addition, it is required to consider interference issues between the terrestrial and satellite components in order to reuse the same frequency band to both satellite and terrestrial component. This paper analyzes the interference for satellite downlink in the satellite/terrestrial integrated system and presents the interference mitigation techniques for satellite mobile earth station interfered by terrestrial base stations.

  • Since rapidly disseminating of Internet of Things (IoT) as the new communication paradigm, a number of studies for various applications is being carried out. Especially, interest in the smart medical system is rising. In the smart medical system, a number of medical devices are distributed in popular area such as station and medical center, and this high density of medical device distribution can cause serious performance degradation of communication, referred to as the coexistence problem. When coexistence problem occurs in smart medical system, reliable transmitting of patient's biological information may not be guaranteed and patient's life can be jeopardized. Therefore, coexistence problem in smart medical system should be resolved. In this paper, we propose a distributed coexistence mitigation scheme for IoT-based smart medical system which can dynamically avoid interference in coexistence situation and can guarantee reliable communication. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we perform extensive simulations by comparing with IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol which is a traditional low-power communication technology.

  • Interference may occur when several co-located wireless body area networks (WBANs) share the same channel simultaneously, which is compressed by resource scheduling generally. In this paper, a QoS-aware Adaptive Coloring (QAC) scheduling algorithm is proposed, which contains two components: interference sets determination and time slots assignment. The highlight of QAC is to determine the interference graph based on the relay scheme and adapted to the network QoS by multi-coloring approach. However, the frequent resource assignment brings in extra energy consumption and packet loss. Thus we come up with a launch condition for the QAC scheduling algorithm, that is if the interference duration is longer than a threshold predetermined, time slots rescheduling is activated. Furthermore, based on the relative distance and moving speed between WBANs, a prediction model for interference duration is proposed. The simulation results show that compared with the state-of-the-art approaches, the QAC scheduling algorithm has better performance in terms of network capacity, average delay and resource utility.

  • The stray current interference problem could induce the corrosion of near-by structure and rail itself. Many efforts has been concentrated on the reduction of the interference. In this work the influences of separation distance, soil resistivity, pipe coating resistance, leak resistance of rail were studied using the numerical analysis methods. These analysis could be used to estimate the sensitivity of each variables in the study of the mitigation method and their numerical analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a chip-level detection and a spectral-slice scheme for the tunable-transmitter/fixed-receiver (TTFR)-based asynchronous spectral phase-encoded optical codedivision multiple-access (CDMA) system combined with timeencoding. The chip-level detection can enhance the tolerance of multiple access interference (MAI) because the channel collision does not occur as long as there is at least one weighted position without MAI. Moreover, the spectral-slice scheme can reduce the interference probability because the MAI with the different frequency has no adverse effects on the channel collision rate. As a result, these techniques mitigate channel collisions. We analyze the channel collision rate theoretically, and show that the proposed system can achieve a lower channel collision rate in comparison to both conventional systems with and without the time-encoding method.

  • Spectrum sharing between wireless systems becomes a critical issue clue to emerging new technologies and spectrum shortage. Recently, IMT system has been allocated in the same frequency C band (3400-4200MHz) along with FSS services on co-primary basis which means that harmful. interference probability may be inspired. In this paper, to estimate the spectrum sharing between IMT and FSS systems, I propose the minimum separation distances as a sharing criterion of I/N=-10dB using the interference to noise ratio(I/N) received at the reference FSS earth station from IMT multiple base station. Especially, same results imply that I/N values can be greatly reduced with MMO SDMA interference mitigation technique of IMT base station so that FSS and IMT systems can co-exist in the sam e frequency with appropriate separation distance.
