Abuse of drugs can elicit compulsive drug seeking behaviors upon repeated administration, and ultimately leads to the phenomenon of addiction. We developed a procedure for the standardization of microarray gene expression data of rat brain in drug addiction and stored them in a single integrated database system, focusing on more effective data processing and interpretation. Another characteristic of the present database is that it has a systematic flexibility for statistical analysis and linking with other databases. Basically, we adopt an intelligent SQL querying system, as the foundation of our DB, in order to set up an interactive module which can automatically read the raw gene expression data in the standardized format. We maximize the usability of this DB, helping users study significant gene expression and identify biological function of the genes through integrated up-to-date gene information such as GO annotation and metabolic pathway. For collecting the latest information of selected gene from the database, we also set up the local BLAST search engine and non-redundant sequence database updated by NCBI server on a daily basis. We find that the present database is a useful query interface and data-mining tool, specifically for finding out the genes related to drug addiction. We apply this system to the identification and characterization of methamphetamine-induced genes' behavior in rat brain.
In spite that the main contents of mathematical and scientific learning are understanding principles and their applications, most of existing educational softwares are based on rote learning, thus resulting in limited educational effects. In the artificial intelligence research, some progress has been made in developing automatic tutors based on proving and simulation, by adapting the techniques of knowledge representation, search and inference to the design of tutors. However, these tutors still fall short of being practical and the turor, even a prototype model, for learning problem solving is yet to come out. The geometry problem-solving tutor proposed by this research involves dynamic inference performed in parallel with learning. As an ontology for composing the problem space within a real-time setting, we have employed the notions of propositions, hypotheses and operators. Then we investigated the mechanism of interactive learning of problem solving in which the main target of inference involves the generation and the test of these components. Major accomplishment from this research is a practical model of a problem tutor embedded with a series of inference techniques for algebraic manipulation, which is indispensable in geometry problem solving but overlooked by previous research. The proposed model is expected to be applicable to the design of problem tutors in other scientific areas such as physics and electric circuitry.
With the development of broadcasting technology from analogue to interactive digital, the number of TV channels and TV contents provided to audiences is increasing in a rapid speed. In this multi-channel world, it is difficult to adapt to the increase of the TV channel numbers and their contents merely using remote controller to search channels. For these reasons, the EPG system, one of the essential services providing convenience to audiences, is proposed in this paper. Collaborative filtering method with multi-step filtering is used in EPG to recommend contents according to the preference of audience groups with similar preference. To implement our designed TV contents recommendation EPG, we prefer DiTV and use JavaXlet programming based on MHP. The European DVB-MHP specification will be also our domestic standard in DiTV. Finally, the result is verified by OpenMHP emulator.
Due to the advent of presumer and digital production of moving picture, a lot of UCC has been generated by editing the previous moving pictures in various way. It causes a lot of problems on copyright, duplication, and content. In reorganizing the contents, it is necessary to increase productivity and reusability by managing production pipeline systematically through the standardization of moving picture content. For this purpose, we try to develop the moving picture content management system that can manage all kinds of information on the production pipeline, based on SCORM of e-learning by considering production, publication and re-editing. Using the meta-data of content object, user and producer can easily search and reuse the contents. Hence, they can choose the contents object according to their preference and reproduce their own creative UCC by reorganizing and packaging the selected objects. The management of copyright by the unit of scene would solve the problem of copyright. The sequencing technique of SCORM as an interactive storytelling method makes it possible to produce individual contents by user's preference.
The paper has analyzed and summarized about the theoretical problem occurred in the CAQC, and has developed the learning model focused on the histogram as a case study. The range of study is to systematize the basic method of histogram generally used, and to make step by step procedures under the interactive relation with the improvement of the theory that must be added in case of the calculation by the aided of MS-Excel software. A histogram is the theory to understand the population distribution from which samples are extracted, so alternative methods are presented to estimate the population shape through an experiment and a practice. In order to enlarge the application area of the histogram in the factory, the theory of normal test, the criteria of process capability index and the probability calculation of PPM are added to the histogram. The learning model of CAQC education is proposed that is consistent with the target of histogram to control and search the cause of item defectives fast and correctly.
Object-based image matching algorithms have been widely used in the image processing and computer vision fields. A variety of applications based on image matching algorithms have been recently developed for object recognition, 3D modeling, video tracking, and biomedical informatics. One prominent example of image matching features is the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) scheme. However many applications using the SIFT algorithm have implemented based on stand-alone basis, not client-server architecture. In this paper, We initially implemented based on client-server structure by using SIFT algorithms to identify and match objects in biomedical images to provide useful information to the user based on the recently released Mobile platform. The major methodological contribution of this work is leveraging the convenient user interface and ubiquitous Internet connection on Mobile device for interactive delineation, segmentation, representation, matching and retrieval of biomedical images. With these technologies, our paper showcased examples of performing reliable image matching from different views of an object in the applications of semantic image search for biomedical informatics.
Recently, Internet Protocol TV technology has a latent power for searching information by using internet-connected interactive TV media. It is hard to browse and search web site conveniently since the visual and input devices are not sufficient for navigating through the websites. Zoomable user interface is a possible solution that may reduce users' task load and improve their performance. In this paper, we made three types of web browsers as scroll, physical zooming and semantic zooming type. Fifteen participants asked to do searching tasks and their task time, accuracy and subjective responses are recorded. In the result, though scroll type is evaluated more efficient than other types in task time and accuracy since participants are familiar with scroll type interface, semantic zooming type is highly rated in subjective responses such as perceived searching efficiency, satisfaction and joyfulness. This result implied semantic zooming is a possible solution which is improving user experience of searching websites using Internet Protocol TV.
The purpose of this study was to design a training program for utilization of 3D special makeup mask program. This study was conducted with a 3D computer graphics software program, for special makeup mask using a variety of creative educational models and case study with comparative analysis. The makeup program applied to the majors and liberal arts classes for program design. Inthis study, the selected major courses included ' stage make up ', make up application', and illustrations and color '. Students were required to take a class targeted to questionnaire completion and analysis. The research method included literature search, and Internet navigation, of experimental research. The research targeted select college students attending a 4-year university located in Dae-jeon, Korea. ETRI's "3D mask special makeup simulation program" was used in support. A survey of the study conducted from September 1, 2013, to August 30, 2014, showed a total of 94 additional statistical analyses. First, grade 3 44.6% was attained by 91.7% of the first year student majoring in liberal arts classes, Second, students' in the 3D special dress up mask program Interestingly, attained high recognition in its mastering, usability, and creativity. Furthermore, the major student satisfaction was higher for the '3D special makeup mask program. Third, students '3D special dress up was one of the biggest advantages of the program', the mask ' that models 3D ' faces. In addition, the student's delicate dress called for critical technology skills. Children likes to play and learn by playing at anywhere as a psychological trait. Children's museum is designed for limited age of 'children,' they learn more actively by playing at the museum with interactive display. In this paper, we analyze Movement of Based on the Psychological Characteristics of Children and Analysis of Preferred Experience of Children's Museum according to Piaget's cognitive development process. It is significant study to investigate user's needs space proposal by grasping user's mentality. After itinerary tracking, we found children's preferred and non-preferred experience displays and as a result, we divided children's Museums into three types, M museum is represented by preoperational period, called 'Go around play' type ; Y museum is represented by 'concrete operational period', called 'Smart road play' type ; and H museum is represented by 'formal operational period' called 'Open search play' type. The conclusions are children's cognitive development stages depending on the age discrimination that the development of play, and preferred plays are different by children cognitive development process. In order to take advantage of children playing in the children's museum by taking into account the developmental aspects will have to be designed. Efficient for viewing by age should be different on the basis. This study has shown that, when planning a children's museum, Planners should discriminate the movements of children and analysis of preferred experience of children's museum according to three museum types friendly to children's cognitive development process.
