Purpose: The use of electronic tools in teaching is growing rapidly in all fields, and there are many options to choose from. We present one such platform, Learning Catalytics$^{TM}$ (LC) (Pearson, New York, NY, USA), which we utilized in our oral and maxillofacial radiology course for second-year dental students. Materials and Methods: The aim of our study was to assess the correlation between students' performance on course exams and self-assessment LC quizzes. The performance of 354 predoctoral dental students from 2 consecutive classes on the course exams and LC quizzes was assessed to identify correlations using the Spearman rank correlation test. The first class was given in-class LC quizzes that were graded for accuracy. The second class was given out-of-class quizzes that were treated as online self-assessment exercises. The grading in the self-assessment exercises was for participation only and not accuracy. All quizzes were scheduled 1-2 weeks before the course examinations. Results: A positive but weak correlation was found between the overall quiz scores and exam scores when the two classes were combined (P<0.0001). A positive but weak correlation was likewise found between students' performance on exams and on in-class LC quizzes (class of 2016) (P<0.0001) as well as on exams and online LC quizzes (class of 2017) (P<0.0001). Conclusion: It is not just the introduction of technological tools that impacts learning, but also their use in enabling an interactive learning environment. The LC platform provides an excellent technological tool for enhancing learning by improving bidirectional communication in a learning environment.

이 연구는 G대학교의 글쓰기 수업인 <교양글쓰기> 교과목을 중심으로 온라인 수업 사례를 선보이고 학생들의 만족도를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 온라인 교육의 가능성을 분석하며 온라인 글쓰기 강의에 대한 효율적 운영 방안을 모색하는 데 목적을 두었다. G대학에서 운영한 온라인 글쓰기 수업 사례를 살펴 본 결과 온라인 글쓰기 수업에 대한 학생들의 만족도는 높게 나타났다. 제한된 상황 속에서도 수업의 참여도도 높았으며 온라인 첨삭 활동도 적극적으로 참여하였다. 반면에 과제도 발견할 수 있었다. 온라인으로 이루어지는 글쓰기 교육은 학생들과의 원활한 소통이라는 관점에서는 한계를 갖고 있다. 글쓰기의 첨삭 지도는 온라인으로 충분히 가능하지만 쌍방향 교육의 완성도를 높이기 위해서는 소통의 한계를 보완해야 하는 것이 과제이다. 또한 온라인 첨삭 지도에 참여한 학생들이 대부분이었지만 참여하지 않은 학생들도 나타났다. 온라인 수업의 정착을 위해서는 학생들의 자발적 참여를 유도하는 것도 필요한 과제이다. 결국 온라인 글쓰기 수업의 효과적 운영을 위해서는 다양한 교육용 영상매체를 활용하며 글쓰기의 이론과 실제의 충분한 학습과 교수자와 학생간의 원활한 소통을 위한 교수·학습 전략과 시스템이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 이러한 조건이 갖추어져야만 온라인 글쓰기 수업도 흔들림 없이 운영될 수 있을 것이다.

Little has been known about the process of the language teacher professional development. The present study aims to investigate an assumption that anybody who has subject matter knowledge will be a good language teacher. A teacher with rich linguistic knowledge started to question the effectiveness of his online class. The teacher, in collaboration with a teacher trainer, became involved in the critical examination of his online class, seeking for more effective ways of teaching. The trainer provided the teacher with clinical supervision, which is characterized as developmental, collaborative, non-judgemental, interactive, and teacher-centered. The data collected at the multi-facets of the online teaching shows how the process of the teacher's decision-making became principled on the basis of recent developments in English language teaching, and how the teacher has gained pedagogical knowledge through reflection upon his teaching. The feedback from the students reveals that such teacher professional development is beneficial to student learning. These findings suggest that language teacher's professional development can take place when they are engaged in reflective teaching and classroom investigation. It is also suggested that the process of teacher development can be enhanced through collaborative supervision with trust, openness and congeniality between parties involved.

온라인상에서 교육 내용의 전달은 많은 방법들이 개발되어 있지만 컴퓨터 언어 및 알고리즘의 e-learning과 실습은 웹상에서 프로그램 실습의 어려움으로 인하여 이론과 실습이 병행되지 못하여 왔다. 본 논문에서는 알고리즘을 검색하고 관리할 수 있는 뱅크를 구축하고 실행 인터페이스를 만들어, 학생들이 직접 웹상에서 각각의 프로그램들을 실행시킬 뿐 아니라 프로그램을 수정하여 실행할 수 있도록 하였다. 웹상에서 실습을 통한 알고리즘 뱅크 시스템은 실습 환경 구축과 적응에 대한 어려움을 없앰으로써 컴퓨터 알고리즘 학습에 대한 거리감을 없애는 효과가 있다.

To explore college students' course satisfaction over the course of the semester during which a full-scale digital transformation was in progress due to COVID-19 pandemic, this study analyzed student survey data from a university located in the metropolitan area. To minimize the respondents' burden to answer long list of detailed questions in repetition, the study utilized a pulse survey method and students were asked to answer a brief and regular set of online questions 5 times throughout the semester. The number of survey respondents ranged from 1,640 to 4,116, with an average of more than 3,700. The main results and implications of this study are summarized as follows. First, the survey data indicated that the overall student satisfaction with online courses was above average (3.46/5). Vast majority of students have chosen pre-recorded, contents-based course over real-time, video-based course as their preferred course delivery method and this tendency remained the same throughout the semester. Second, the results of keyword network analysis of open-ended questions indicated that technical issues, increased workload (e.g., course assignments and course attendance) were main causes of online course dissatisfaction. And students suggested an unified online course platform and more interactive course design to further improve online courses in the future.

본 연구는 SW기반 메이커교육을 비대면 온라인 환경에서 블렌디드 러닝 전략에 따라 다르게 적용한 후 자기효능감, 학습동기, 흥미도의 관점에서 비교한 것이다. 먼저 온라인 교육을 위한 SW 메이커 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 실시간 쌍방향을 포함하는 라이브세미나형 수업과 온라인콘텐츠와 질의응답으로 이루어진 지원제공형 수업으로 각각 적용하였다. 사전, 사후로 나누어 두 전략에 따른 학생들의 차이를 비교한 결과 자기효능감 부분에서는 라이브세미나 형태가 긍정적 효능감과 전체 평균 변화 부분에서 유의미한 차이가 있었고, 학습동기 부분에서는 라이브세미나 형태가 자신감 부분에서 유의미하게 높았으며 흥미 부분에서는 지원제공형 형태가 도구적 흥미와 긴장 부분에서 유의하게 높은 평균을 보여주었다. 비대면 온라인 학습에서 기존 대면상황과 같은 메이커 활동의 효과를 유지하기 위해서는 학생 간 공유 시간 증대와 통합적인 학습 환경, 탐색시간과 학습 자료의 충분한 제공이 필요하다.

본 연구는 국내 선행 연구에서 '팬데믹(pandemic)시기에 교사들을 대상으로 진행한 설문 조사 결과 원격수업 형식 중 '실시간 쌍방향 형' 수업이 차지하는 비중이 현저하게 적다는 점'을 지적한 것에 주목하여, 고등학교 수학 교과 기하 과목의 '평면의 결정 요건'을 중심으로 '실시간 쌍방향 형' 비대면 수업 자료를 개발하여 수업에 적용한 사례를 보고한 연구이다. 개발에 참여한 교사는 고등학교 교직 경력 28년차의 서울 소재 고등학교에 근무하는 수학 교사(수석교사) 1인이며, 2020년에 수학 교과의 기하 과목을 담당한 교사이다. 개발 교사는 실시간 쌍방향 형 비대면 수업을 개발하기로 한 이후, 수업 내용의 선정과 온라인 수업 도구를 선정하는 과정을 거친 다음 '만남 및 수업 안내', '동기 부여', '과제 제시', '개별 탐구 활동 및 교사 피드백', '성찰 및 평가'의 네 단계로 수업 지도안을 구성하여 자료를 개발하였다. 특히 '동기 부여' 과정에서는 개발 교사가 화이트보드 애니메이션 제작 프로그램인 Videoscribe를 이용해서 5분 정도의 영상 자료를 제작하여 제시하였으며, '과제제시'에서 과제 8번의 경우에는 학생들의 수업 종료 이후 자유로운 소감을 기록하는 것으로 구성하였는데, 이는 학생 스스로의 평가 장치임과 동시에 학생의 교사에 대한 피드백 제공 역할을 하였다. 본 연구는 현장 교사가 수업 자료를 개발하는 일련의 과정을 소개한 사례 연구로서, 수업에 바로 적용 가능한 수업 자료 제시와 더불어서 이후 수업 자료 개발에 대한 샘플 제시 역할에 목표를 두고 진행한 연구 결과물이다. 개발한 자료는 수업에 참여한 학생들의 의견 수렴 및 수학교사 3인에게 의뢰한 평가 결과를 바탕으로 수업 자료로서의 적합성 검증을 거쳤다.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to present the direction of efficient e-learning education through the importance and satisfaction survey of learners of non-face-to-face video lectures. Therefore, by grasping the degree of satisfaction of the importance ratio through the IPA analysis method, we try to present improvement measures for insufficient education methods. Design/methodology/approach For IPA analysis, we conducted an online survey of four universities and analyzed 154 samples. The analysis method used SPSS, and through the wordcloud analysis method of R, the suggestions for the non-face-to-face lecture method felt by learners were analyzed to derive implications for improving the quality of education. Findings As a result of the overall satisfaction survey for the entire non-face-to-face class, the factors with the greatest dissatisfaction are listed as follows. Complaints about the adequacy of learning materials and activities (quiz, discussion, assignments, etc.), Complaints about how to use the produced content, and complaints about announcements about class management (lecture schedule, lecture method) were identified in order. The factors of dissatisfaction were clear in the non-face-to-face class where interactive communication was impossible or insufficient. In addition to the lack of quick Q&A, there seems to have been a phenomenon of some neglect.

The purpose of this paper is to discover how the use of digital applications can affect students' attitudes toward positive classroom participation and performance in learning a foreign language. Participants of this study were 128 students who took a foreign language class at a high school in central Korea. To find out students' perceptions and attitudes toward the effect of using a digital application for their foreign language study, online questionnaire and focus-group interview were conducted. Our research findings revealed that these students could engage in active language learning and experience learning improvement while studying a foreign language with digital applications. The improvement was possible by creating more interactive activities and quizzes. In addition, the digital application provided students immediate feedback. It gave students and teachers various motivations beyond the traditional 'chalk and talk' format of text-only-classes. This study provides an overview of the usefulness of digital application. In addition, it provides understanding for students' perceptions and involvement using digital application in a foreign language classroom.

Purpose: This study explores the impact of digital transformation (DT) strategies on gaining a competitive advantage in interactive educational services. Methods: We develop a service value proposition model by analyzing educational service elements to confirm the impact of DT in the classroom through case studies. This study focuses on educational services that DT has a positive impact on organizational competitiveness by providing opportunities for customers to engage in operational processes. This case study summarizes competitiveness using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. Results: The findings of the case study indicate that DT-enabled competitive factors contribute to an organization's competitive advantage. The study results present key resource as social cloud services, data combination, content sharing, and products/services. The online application that collects user data about education and shares class and evaluation information creates a new class operational process in the field of educational service for a value proposition of collection-merging-sharing with social cloud function. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as a good guideline for educational service providers interested in applying DT for improved customer satisfaction and educational organizations' competitiveness. In addition, the study findings provide theoretical and practical implications on SWOT approaches to changing the educational service provision ways through digital transformation.
