협력주행 서비스를 위한 차량통신시스템 성능 분석 (Performance of Inter Vehicle Communication System for Cooperative Driving Service)

  • ITS services are quickly evolving due to the convergence of ICT technologies. WAVE technology based on IEEE802.11p specification has been introduced for the high speed vehicle communication and applied into the transportation system for driving safety and convenience. Recently, WAVE technology as a inter vehicle communication is used for cooperative driving application. In this paper, the implemented inter vehicle communication system is introduced and suggested as a solution for V2X communication. The performance of the implemented inter vehicle communication system is tested and analyzed under various conditions.

  • This study considers the implementation issues of the inter-vehicle communication system for the vehicle platoon experiments via a testbed. The testbed, which consists of three scale vehicles and one RCS(remote control station), is developed as a tool for functions evaluation between simulation studies and full-sized vehicle researches in the previous study. The cooperative communication of the vehicle-to-vehicle or the vehicle-to-roadside plays a key role for keeping the relative spacing of vehicles small in a vehicle platoon. The static platoon control, where the number of vehicles remains constant, is sufficient for the information to be transmitted in the suitably fixed interval, while the dynamic platoon control such as merge or split requires more flexible network architecture for the dynamical coordination of the communication sequence. In this study, the wireless communication device and the reliable protocol of the flexible network architecture are implemented for our testbed, using the low-cost, ISM band transceiver and the 8-bit microcontroller.

차량의 이동 방향과 거리 기반의 그리디 애니캐스트 포워딩 프로토콜 (Greedy Anycast Forwarding Protocol based on Vehicle Moving Direction and Distance)

  • Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) cause link disconnection problems due to the rapid speed and the frequent moving direction change of vehicles. Link disconnection in vehicle-to-vehicle communication is an important issue that must be solved because it decreases the reliability of packet forwarding. From the characteristics of VANETs, greedy forwarding protocols using the position information based on the inter-vehicle distance have gained attention. However, greedy forwarding protocols do not perform well in the urban environment where the direction of the vehicle changes greatly. It is because greedy forwarding protocols select the neighbor vehicle that is closest to the destination vehicle as the next transmission vehicle. In this paper, we propose a greedy anycast forwarding (GAF) protocol to improve the reliability of the inter-vehicle communication. The proposed GAF protocol combines the greedy forwarding scheme and the anycast forwarding method. Simulation results show that the GAF protocol can provide a better packet delivery rate than existing greedy forwarding protocols.

An Air-Interface for Ad Hoc Networks Supporting High Mobility

  • In this paper, a novel air-interface is presented for Fleet-Net1, a self-organizing network for inter-vehicle and vehicle-toroadsidecommunication. The air-interface is based upon the lowchip-rate version of UMTS/TDD. To adapt the cellular UMTS standard to an air-interface for ad hoc networks, changes of the physical layer, medium access control sub-layer and radio resource management are required. An overview of the required modifications is given here. Particularly, a decentralized synchronization mechanism is presented and analyzed by means of simulations. Furthermore, changes for the medium access control are explained in detail, which allow for an efficient operation in partly meshed networks and prioritization. Performance results of the overall system considering throughput and delay are derived by means of analytical evaluations and event-driven simulations. Based on realistic mobility models, it is shown that the presented solution provides a robust communication platform even in vehicular environments. The proposed air-interface is a cost-effective solution not only for inter-vehicle communication, but also for ad hoc networking in general, benefiting from the mass-market of UMTS.

  • u-TSN 환경에서 차량 단말기와 도로변에 설치되는 노변장치와의 통신은 서비스의 신속한 지원과 도로 교통정보의 실시간 확보를 위하여 교통시스템 구성 시에 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 차량 통신 시스템의 성능 평가를 위한 V2I 혹은 I2V 통신 서비스 시나리오와 신속성과 정확성이 요구되는 긴급정보 전송을 위한 V2V 차량 간 통신 서비스 시나리오를 제시하였다. 그리고 실제 차량간 통신시스템을 구현한 후 제안된 통신 서비스 시나리오에 맞춰 차량통신 실험을 실시하는 방법으로 성능을 평가하였다. 실험결과 최적의 전송 모드 설정 조건을 도출하였으며, 도출된 결과는 안정적이고 효율적인 u-TSN 차량 통신시스템 개발에 적용가능하다.

  • 도로 기반 시설의 도움 없이 지능형 교통 시스템을 실현하기 위한 차량 간 통신(Inter-Vehicle Communication)에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 차량 간 통신은 고정된 인프라 없이 차량간에 실시간 정보를 교환할 수 있게 해준다. 차량 간 통신 시스템은 정보를 전송하기 위해 멀티 홉 브로드캐스트 방식을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 차량 간 통신을 위한 위치 정보 기반의 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안하는 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜은 위치 정보를 갖는 Hello 패킷을 전송하여 노드간 거리를 계산한다. 그런 다음 각 노드의 거리테이블을 이용하여 신속한 경로 복구를 수행한다. 제안하는 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜의 성능은 퀄넷(Qualnet) 버전 3.8 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 기존의 AODV 라우팅 프로토콜과 비교하였다.

  • In this paper, a platoon merging is considered as a remote-controlled system with the state represented by a stochastic process. In this system, it becomes to encounter situations where a single decision maker controls a large number of subsystems, and observation and control signals are sent over a communication channel with finite capacity and significant transmission delays. Unlike classical estimation problem in which the observation is a continuous process corrupted by additive noise, there is a constraint that the observation must be coded and transmitted over a digital communication channel with finite capaci쇼. A recursive coder-estimator sequence is a state estimation scheme based on observations transmitted with finite communication capacity constraint. Using the coder-estimator sequence, the remote control station designs a feedback controller. In this paper, we introduce a stochastic model for the lead vehicle in a platoon of vehicles considering the angle between a road surface and a horizontal plane as a stochastic process. The simulation results show that the inter-vehicle distance and the deviation from the desired inter-vehicle distance are well regulated.

  • 본 논문에서는 60GHz대의 밀리미터파 대역에서 강우감쇠와 산소흡수의 영향을 고려하여 근거리 차량간 통신(Inter-Vehicle Communication) 채널을 3가지로 모델링하고 첨단차량도로시스템(AVHS)의 최종 목표인 플래툰 주행에 적합한 1-경로 Rician 모델에서 DS/CDMA 통신 시스템의 BER 성능을 분석하였다. 또한 60GHz에서 지연 반사계수를 계산해 내었다. 성능 개선 기법으로서는 BCH 채널 부호화 기법과 MRC 다이버시티 수신 기법을 함께 채용하였고 패킷 길이, Rician 심도, 차량간 거리를 함수로 하여 시스템의 오율을 구하였다.

Millimeter-wave Technologies for ITS Wireless Communications

  • CRL (Communications Research Laboratory, Independent Administrative Institution, Japan) is developing ITS wireless communication technologies in millimeter-wave frequency region. Technologies are categorized for inter-vehicle communications (IVC) and road-vehicle communications (RVC). In this paper, system concepts and the experimental facilities are introduced. The experimental facility for inter-vehicle communications is gotten ready in 60 GHz frequency region and the experimental system for road-vehicle communications is based on RoF (Radio on Fiber) technology in 36-37GHz frequency region.
