  • Underwater communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of underwater channel causes signal distortion and error floor. The excessive multipath encountered in underwater communication channel creates inter symbol interference, which is a limiting factor to achieve a high data rate and bit error rate performance. Therefore, to increase throughput efficiency and improve performance, this paper consider FTN (Faster-than-Nyquist) signalling based on turbo equalization. FTN signalling is a technique of transmitting information at a rate higher than the allowed Nyquist limit. This paper presented efficient decoder structure of FTN transmission in the environment of multipath underwater channel and we compare the performance between FTN method and conventional punctured method in lake experimentation. As a results of lake experiment, we confirmed FTN method based on turbo equalization is applicable and efficiency in underwater communication.

  • Super-resolution near-field structure (super-RENS) read-out samples are affected by a nonlinear and noncausal channel, which results in inter-symbol interference (ISI). In this study, we investigate asymmetry or domain bloom in super-RENS in terms of equalization. Domain bloom is caused by writing process in optical recording. We assume in this work that the asymmetry symbol conversion scheme is to generate asymmetric symbols, and then a linear finite impulse response filter can model the read-out channel. For equalizing this overall nonlinear channel, the read-out signals are deconvolved with the finite impulse response filter and its output is decided based on the decision rule table that is developed from the asymmetry symbol conversion scheme. The proposed equalizer is investigated with the simulations and the real super-RENS samples in terms of raw bit error rate.

  • The performance of turbo-like codes highly depends on their frame size and thus, the bit error rate performance of turbo-like codes can be improved by increasing the frame size. Unfortunately, increasing the frame size of channel codes induces some drawbacks such as the increase of not only encoding and decoding complexity but also transmission and decoding latencies. On the other hand, a faster than Nyquist (FTN) transmission causes intentional inter-symbol interference (ISI) and thus, induces some correlation among the transmission symbols. In this paper, we propose an FTN transmission with multiple channel codes. By exploiting the correlation among the modulated symbols, multiple code frames can be regarded as a code frame with a lager frame size. Due to the inherent parallel encoding scheme of proposed scheme, parallel decoding can be easily implemented.

  • This paper proposes an orthogonal reception structure for OS/SS communication with time-shifted m-sequences, and compares the performances of the proposed and conventional receiver. This structure provides two important characteristics to reference user signal with not only increment of auto-correlation value but also cancel of the cross-correlation value out to zero between the reference user and other user signals. In addition, the structure can be easily implemented with the conventional receiver adding an additional integrator path in parallel and an adder that sums the conventional path output and the new path output signal. Hence, the proposed structure can be applied for channel impulse response measurement, and efficiently used for multi-user interference signal cancellation and channel capacity increment by flexible structural inter-working operation, connection or disconnection, of the new path to conventional receiver structure.

  • In this paper, we consider a two-way relay non-orthogonal multiple access (TWR-NOMA) system with residual hardware impairments (RHIs) and channel estimation errors (CEEs), where two group users exchange their information via the decode-and-forward (DF) relay by using NOMA protocol. To evaluate the performance of the considered system, exact analytical expressions for the outage probability of the two groups users are derived in closed-form. Moreover, the asymptotic outage behavior in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime is examined and the diversity order is derived and discussed. Numerical simulation results verify the accuracy of theoretical analyses, and show that: i) RHIs and CEEs have a deleterious effects on the outage probabilities; ii) CEEs have significant effects on the performance of the near user; iii) Due to the RHIs, CEEs, inter-group interference and intra-group interference, there exists error floors for the outage probability.

  • In this paper, a generalized blind adaptive algorithm is introduced for multi-user detection of direct sequence code division multiple access (OS-COMA) wireless communication systems. The main property of the proposed algorithm is its ability to resolve the multipath fading channel resulting in inter symbol interference (ISI) as well as multiple access interference (MAI). Other remarkable properties are its low complexity and mitigation to the near-far problem as well as its insensitivity to asynchronous transmission. The proposed system is based on the minimization of the output energy and convergence to the minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector. It is blind in the sense that it needs no knowledge of the other users' signatures, only the intended user signature and timing are required. Furthermore, the convergence of the minimum output energy (MOE) detector to the MMSE detector is analytically proven in case of M-ary PSK. Depicted results show that the performance of the generalized system dominates those previously considered. Further improvements are obtained when multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technique is employed.

  • As the youngest branch of information hiding, network covert timing channels conceal the existence of secret messages by manipulating the timing information of the overt traffic. The popular model-based framework for constructing covert timing channels always utilizes cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the inter-packet delays (IPDs) to modulate secret messages, whereas discards high-order statistics of the IPDs completely. The consequence is the vulnerability to high-order statistical tests, e.g., entropy test. In this study, a rich security model of covert timing channels is established based on IPD chains, which can be used to measure the distortion of multi-order timing statistics of a covert timing channel. To achieve rich security, we propose two types of covert timing channels based on nested lattices. The CDF of the IPDs is used to construct dot-lattice and interval-lattice for quantization, which can ensure the cell density of the lattice consistent with the joint distribution of the IPDs. Furthermore, compensative quantization and guard band strategy are employed to eliminate the regularity and enhance the robustness, respectively. Experimental results on real traffic show that the proposed schemes are rich-secure, and robust to channel interference, whereas some state-of-the-art covert timing channels cannot evade detection under the rich security model.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new dynamic channel allocation algorithm for TD-SCDMA with cross time slots. In order to reduce the interference in cross time slot, the mobile stations (MSs) are divided into two groups: the Near Group consisting of MSs near by the base station(BS) and the Far Group including the MSs far from the BS. The reverse link for MSs in the Near Group and forward link for MSs in the Far Group are allocated to the cross time slot. In cellular systems, a BS has multiple neighbor BSs. Some of neighbor BSs can operate in the same direction link while the others have cross time slot. Thus, it is required to determine which BS has the most significant impact in terms of interference. We divide each cell into 6 areas based on the direction of arrival of smart antenna and the most significant neighbor sector is determined with this division. The proposed allocation method and area division method can avoid the severe interference in cross time slots and increase the system capacity about 2%~9% compared to FCA, and 0.5%~1.3% compared to RCA.

  • In this paper, we propose a distributed user scheduling with transmit power control based on the amount of generating interference to other base stations (BSs) in multi-cell multi-input multi-output (MIMO) networks. Assuming that the time-division duplexing (TDD) system is used, the interference channel from users to other cell BSs is obtained at each user. In the proposed scheduling, each user first generates a transmit beamforming vector by using singular value decompositon (SVD) over MIMO channels and reduces the transmit power if its generating interference to other BSs is larger than a predetermined threshold. Each BS selects the user with the largest effective channel gains among users, which reflects the adjusted power of users. Simulation results show that the proposed technique significantly outperforms the existing user scheduling algorithms.

  • In this paper, we compare the existing channel estimation technique for 4S (Ship to Ship, Ship to Shore) maritime communications under AWGN channel model, Rician fading channel model, and Rayleigh fading channel model respectively. In general, the received signal is corrupted by multipath and ISI (Inter Symbol Interference). The estimation of a time-varying multipath fading channel is a difficult task for the receiver. Its performance can be improved if an appropriate channel estimation filter is used. The simulation is performed in MATLAB. In this simulation, we use the popular estimation algorithms, LMS (Least Mean Square) and RLS (Recursive Least-Squares) are compared with respect to AWGN, Rician and Rayleigh channels.
