The Effect of Smart Safety and Health Activities on Workers' Intended Behavior (스마트 안전보건활동이 근로자의 의도된 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • With the aim of preventing safety accidents at construction sites, the company aims to create safe behaviors intended through variables called smart safety and health activities to help reduce industrial accidents. Purpose: It analyzes how smart safety and health activities affect accidents caused by unsafe behavior and changes in worker behavior, which is the root cause, and verifies the hypothesis that it helps prevent safety accidents and protect workers' lives. Method: Smart safety and health activities were selected as independent variables (X), and intended safety and anxiety, which are workers' behavioral intentions, were set as dependent variables (Y), attitude and subjective norms, and planned behavioral control as parameters (M). Exploratory factor analysis, discriminant validity analysis, and intensive validity analysis of safety and health activities were used to analyze the scale's reliability and validity. To verify the hypothesis of behavior change, the study was verified through Bayesian model analysis and MC simulation's probability density distribution. Result: It was found that workers who experienced smart safety and health activities at construction sites had the highest analysis of reducing unstable behavior and performing intended safety behavior. The research hypothesis that this will affect changes in worker behavior has been proven, the correlation between variables has been verified in the structural equation and path analysis of the research analysis, and it has been confirmed that smart safety and health activities can control and reduce worker instability. Conclusion: Smart safety and health activities are a very important item to prevent accidents and change workers' behavior at construction sites.

  • Obstacle defines all fixed and mobile objects, or parts thereof, that are located on an area intended for the surface movement of aircraft or extend above a defined surface intended to protect aircraft in flight or stand outside those defined surfaces and that have been assessed as being a hazard to air navigation. The airspace around airports are maintained free from obstacles so as to permit the intended aeroplane operations at the airports to be conducted safely and to prevent the airports from becoming unusable by the growth of obstacles around the airports. This is achieved by establishing a series of obstacle limitation surfaces or airspace imaginary surfaces that define the limits to which objects may project into the airspace. This is a case study that shows an application of obstacle limitation criteria, which must be maintained free from an critical obstacle, for specific conditions of two airports. For the purpose of the application, aeronautical studies/flight safety influence assessments were used to identify possible solutions and select a solution that is acceptable without degrading aviation safety.

  • One of the main objectives of the study is to propose a pratical and realistic reliability analysis by ETCM(Expected Total Cost Minimization). This study is intended to propose the safety assesment and capacity rating of existing reinforced concrete members by evaluating the safety evaluation index, that is RF(Rating Factor) from the results of the field test and inspection for 5 reinforced concrete bridges. ETCM method is used for the reliability analysis of the proposed models. The proposed reliability model and method are applied the safety assesment and system factors of reinforced concrete members.

Creating a Workplace Handbook of Biologically Hazardous Agents (사업장의 생물학적 유해인자 편람 작성 연구)

  • Objectives: Since information on biological factors in the workplace are currently lacking, I wanted to create a handbook of these factors that would be viewable at a glance as a means to more effectively prevent occupationally-infected diseases. Proper information on biological hazards in the workplace allowing the appropriate recognition of the harmful factors is desperately needed. Methods and Results: In this study, I intended to create a high-utility handbook of biologically hazardous agents in the workplace. To ensure its effectiveness, information and references about biologically hazardous agents in the workplace were analyzed and classified and pathogen safety data sheets(PSDS) sourced from the Public Health Agency of Canada were included. I intended to make it accessible from the point of view of workers and their employers. A more effective classification system of occupational infectious diseases is presented, and biologically hazardous agents were classified according to occupations, industries, infectious diseases, and so on. The handbook consists of 60 major kinds of biologically infectious occupational factors that are expected to be generated in workplaces in Korea, and are focused on practical utility. The pathogen safety data sheets(PSDS) of 192 species were also included. To allow more effective management, domestic and foreign laws and regulations are presented. Conclusions: This case report presents general information on the history and contents of the handbook and PSDS, it will also be useful in workplaces if download from the homepage of OSHRI, KOSHA(oshri.kosha.or.kr/bridge?menuID=901).

  • As passengers feel uneasy about the subway since the fire accident on subway trains in Taegu, this research is intended to appraise the influence of safety upon the customer-satisfaction for the Metropolitan subway. Using the framework of the Korea Gallup survey, a new survey which includes questions regarding safety was conducted and the results are analyzed to show the differences between before and after the accident.

  • The level crossing collision accident which comprises more than 90 percent of all level crossing accidents is one of the most serious safety problems. There is a critical need for providing safe strategy and is focusing on the level crossing information rather than measures at a grade crossing. This study is intended to develop technology for accident prevention and damage reduction based on accident cases analysis result and improvement direction to complement shortcomings of safety equipment of conventional level crossing and to establish safety of travelers(train, motor vehicle, person).

  • To analyze risk factors of temporary power installations, the investigation was carried out for power receiving system and pack and panel boards at construction sites. The subject was variable such as an airport, an apartment, a municipal playground. There are many risk factors caused by inadequate working environments and the deterioration of temporary power installations using equipment with minimum safety devices at construction sites. There, it is intended to present problems and preventive measures against electrical shock accidents, through analyzing risk factors of real field condition and investigating temporary power installations all over the country.

  • If industrial safety statistics are analyzed, among the total of 2,114 dead people from industrial disasters in 2011, construction workers took 29.4% with 621. The construction industry makes a lot of efforts to reduce the death toll. However, since the measures are not from the analysis of root causes but from superficial countermeasure plans near general matters, it is in a situation that the actual effectiveness is marginal. Therefore, in this paper, improvement measures were intended to be prepared in order to reduce accidents, by inspecting safety control systems of target companies with high accident rates among major construction firms and extracting overall problems of them.
