  • With the rapid development of Urban Mass Transit in China, the Intelligent Transport System becomes inevitable. Based on the brief introduction of the blueprint of Urban Mass Transit in Shanghai, this paper analyses in detail the components and functions of Automatic Train Control (ATC) system applied in Shanghai Metro, presents the key technology of the main three subsystems of the ATC system : Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) subsystem, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) subsystem, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) subsystem. After reading this paper, you will have an general grasp of ATC system. At the end of the paper, it suggests a good resolution about the ATC system equipment to be made in China.   • We consider a problem of intelligent Integration Information system for research ship, and propose a design as one effective solution of the problem. The goals of the proposed design and system are as follows: management of engine, management of ship, researcher's work, education, training, manage schedule of the project, and thus to manage the whole life cycle of the research ship project. These goals are basically to facilitate and implement innovation- and enhancement-related activities which intelligent Integration Information system is fundamentally pursuing.

  • Mathematics is a discipline with a strong systemic structure, and learning deficits in previous stages have a great influence on the next stages of learning. Therefore, it is necessary to frequently check whether students have learned well and to provide immediate feedback, and for this purpose, intelligent tutoring system(ITS) can be used in math education. For this reason, it is necessary to reveal how the intelligent tutoring system is effective in personalized adaptive learning. The purpose of this study is to investigate the functions and applications of intelligent tutoring system for personalized adaptive learning in mathematics. To achieve this goal, literature reviews and surveys with students were applied to derive implications. Based on the literature reviews, the functions of intelligent tutoring system for personalized adaptive learning were derived. They can be broadly divided into diagnosis and evaluation, analysis and prediction, and feedback and content delivery. The learning and lesson plans were designed by them and it was applied to fifth graders in elementary school for about three months. As a result of this study, intelligent tutoring system was mostly supporting personalized adaptive learning in mathematics in several ways. Also, the researcher suggested that more sophisticated materials and technologies should be developed for effective personalized adaptive learning in mathematics by using intelligent tutoring system.

  • Recently, we have remarkable developments in intelligent robot systems. The remarkable features of intelligent robot are that it can track user, does face recognition and vital for many surveillance based systems. Advantage of face recognition when compared with other biometrics recognition is that coerciveness and contact that usually exist when we acquire characteristics do not exist in face recognition. However, the accuracy of face recognition is lower than other biometric recognition due to decrease in dimension from of image acquisition step and various changes associated with face pose and background. Factors that deteriorate performance of face recognition are many such as distance from camera to face, lighting change, pose change, and change of facial expression. In this paper, we implement a new 3D active camera system to prevent various pose variation that influence face recognition performance and propose face recognition algorithm for intelligent surveillance system and mobile robot system.

  • Using intelligent systems, many users do effectively their works. In general, the effective usages of the systems have to possess the usability and accuracy. So, we need some measurements for evaluating the performance of the criteria. But, in most cases, objective measurements for the evaluation are not. In this paper, we propose a measurement technique for objective evaluated measuring of intelligent systems using probability measure.

  • The concept of Holon was suggested by A. Koestler in his paper(1967) "The Ghost in the Machine." It became one of the central concept of the Intelligent Manufacturing System. In this paper, a new system concept: Holonic Weapon System was introduced.   • This paper describes an intelligent system to automatic evaluation of eddy current(EC) signal for Inspection of steam generator(SG) tubes in nuclear power plant. Some features of the intelligent system design in the proposed system are : (1) separation of representation scheme ,or event capturing knowledge in EC signal and for structural inspection knowledge in SG tubes inspection; (2) each representation scheme is implemented in different methods, one is syntactic pattern grammar and the other is rule based production. This intelligent system also includes an data base system and an user interface system to support integration of the hybrid knowledge processing methods. The intelligent system based on the proposed concept is useful in simplifying the knowledge elicitation process of the rule based production system, and in increasing the performance in real time signal inspection application.
