This paper addresses an effective approach of training neural networks classifiers for credit card fraud detection. The proposed approach uses evolutionary programming to trails the neural networks classifiers based on maximization of the detection rate of fraudulent usages on some ranges of the rejection rate, loot minimization of mean square error(MSE) that Is a common criterion for neural networks learning. This approach enables us to get classifier of satisfactory performance and to offer a directive method of handling various conditions and performance measures that are required for real fraud detection applications in the classifier training step. The experimental results on "real"credit card transaction data indicate that the proposed classifiers produces classifiers of high quality in terms of a relative profit as well as detection rate and efficiency.
Nanofluids have recently triggered a substantial scientific interest as cooling media. However, their stability is challenging for successful engagement in industrial applications. Different factors, including temperature, nanoparticles and base fluids characteristics, pH, ultrasonic power and frequency, agitation time, and surfactant type and concentration, determine the nanofluid stability regime. Indeed, it is often too complicated and even impossible to accurately find the conditions resulting in a stabilized nanofluid. Furthermore, there are no empirical, semi-empirical, and even intelligent scenarios for anticipating the stability of nanofluids. Therefore, this study introduces a straightforward and reliable intelligent classifier for discriminating among the stability regimes of alumina-water nanofluids based on the Zeta potential margins. In this regard, various intelligent classifiers (i.e., deep learning and multilayer perceptron neural network, decision tree, GoogleNet, and multi-output least squares support vector regression) have been designed, and their classification accuracy was compared. This comparison approved that the multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN) with the SoftMax activation function trained by the Bayesian regularization algorithm is the best classifier for the considered task. This intelligent classifier accurately detects the stability regimes of more than 90% of 345 different nanofluid samples. The overall classification accuracy and misclassification percent of 90.1% and 9.9% have been achieved by this model. This research is the first try toward anticipting the stability of water-alumin nanofluids from some easily measured independent variables.

In this paper, we propose a real-time people tracking system with multiple CCD cameras for security inside the building. The camera is mounted from the ceiling of the laboratory so that the image data of the passing people are fully overlapped. The implemented system recognizes people movement along various directions. To track people even when their images are partially overlapped, the proposed system estimates and tracks a bounding box enclosing each person in the tracking region. The approximated convex hull of each individual in the tracking area is obtained to provide more accurate tracking information. To achieve this goal, we propose a method for 3D walking human tracking based on the IMPRESARIO framework incorporating cascaded classifiers into hypothesis evaluation. The efficiency of adaptive selection of cascaded classifiers have been also presented. We have shown the improvement of reliability for likelihood calculation by using cascaded classifiers. Experimental results show that the proposed method can smoothly and effectively detect and track walking humans through environments such as dense forests.

Black-box classifiers, such as artificial neural network and support vector machine, are a popular classifier because of its remarkable performance. They are applied in various fields such as inductive inferences, classifications, or regressions. However, by its characteristics, they cannot provide appropriate explanations how the classification results are derived. Therefore, there are plenty of actively discussed researches about interpreting trained black-box classifiers. In this paper, we propose a method to make a fuzzy logic-based classifier using extracted rules from the artificial neural network and support vector machine in order to interpret internal structures. As an object of classification, an anomalous propagation echo is selected which occurs frequently in radar data and becomes the problem in a precipitation estimation process. After applying a clustering method, learning dataset is generated from clusters. Using the learning dataset, artificial neural network and support vector machine are implemented. After that, decision trees for each classifier are generated. And they are used to implement simplified fuzzy logic-based classifiers by rule extraction and input selection. Finally, we can verify and compare performances. With actual occurrence cased of the anomalous propagation echo, we can determine the inner structures of the black-box classifiers.

This paper deals with the feature selection for multiple k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) classifiers using Genetic Algorithm with Varying reputation Size (GAVaPS). Because we use multiple k-NN classifiers, the feature selection problem for them is vary hard and has large search region. To solve this problem, we employ the GAVaPS which outperforms comparison with simple genetic algorithm (SGA). Further, we propose the efficient combining method for multiple k-NN classifiers using GAVaPS. Experiments are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
Human posture recognition is an attractive and challenging topic in computer vision due to its promising applications in the areas of personal health care, environmental awareness, human-computer-interaction and surveillance systems. Human posture recognition in video sequences consists of two stages: the first stage is training and evaluation and the second is deployment. In the first stage, the system is trained and evaluated using datasets of human postures to ‘teach’ the system to classify human postures for any future inputs. When the training and evaluation process is deemed satisfactory as measured by recognition rates, the trained system is then deployed to recognize human postures in any input video sequence. Different classifiers were used in the training such as Multilayer Perceptron Feedforward Neural networks, Self-Organizing Maps, Fuzzy C Means and K Means. Results show that supervised learning classifiers tend to perform better than unsupervised classifiers for the case of human posture recognition.
If an agent has a learning ability using previous knowledge, then it is expected that the agent can speed up learning by interacting with environment. In this paper, we present an improved reinforcement learning algorithm using domain knowledge which can be represented by problem-independent features and their classifiers. Here, neural networks are employed as knowledge classifiers. To show the validity of our proposed algorithm, computer simulations are illustrated, where navigation problem of a mobile robot and a micro aerial vehicle(MAV) are considered.

In this study, we develop a method for recognizing face images by combining wavelet decomposition, fisherface method, and fuzzy integral. The proposed approach comprises of four main stages. The first stage uses the wavelet decomposition. As a result of this decomposition, we obtain four subimages. The second stage of the approach applies a fisherface method to these four subimage sets. The two last phases are concerned with the generation of the degree of fuzzy membership and the aggregation of the individual classifiers by means of the fuzzy integral. The experimental results obtained for the CNU and Yale face databases reveal that the approach presented in this study yields better classification performance in comparison to the results produced by other classifiers.

Due to the recent proliferation of the internet, it is broadly granted that the necessity of the automatic document categorization has been on the rise. Since it is a heavy time-consuming work and takes too much manpower to process and classify manually, we need a system that categorizes them automatically as their contents. In this paper, we propose the automatic E-mail response system that is based on 2 hierarchical document clustering methods. One is to get the final result from the classifier trained seperatly within each class, after clustering the whole documents into 3 groups so that the first classifier categorize the input documents as the corresponding group. The other method is that the system classifies the most distinct classes first as their similarity, successively. Neural networks have been adopted as classifiers, we have used dendrograms to show the hierarchical aspect of similarities between classes. The comparison among the performances of hierarchical and non-hierarchical classifiers tells us clustering methods have provided the classification efficiency.

Building classifiers for financial real-world classification problems is often plagued by severely overlapping and highly skewed class distribution. New performance measures such as receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and area under ROC curve (AUC) have been recently introduced in evaluating and building classifiers for those kind of problems. They are, however, in-effective to evaluation of classifier's discrimination performance in a particular class of the classification problems that interests lie in only a local operating range of the classifier, In this paper, a new method is proposed that enables us to directly improve classifier's discrimination performance at a desired local operating range by defining and optimizing a partial area under ROC curve or domain-specific curve, which is difficult to achieve with conventional classification accuracy based learning methods. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated in terms of fraud detection capability in a real-world fraud detection problem compared with the MSE-based approach.
