Identifying Key Factors to Affect Taxi Travel Considering Spatial Dependence: A Case Study for Seoul (공간 상관성을 고려한 서울시 택시통행의 영향요인 분석)

  • This paper explores key factors affecting taxi travel using global positioning system(GPS) data in Seoul, Korea, considering spatial dependence. We first analyzed the travel characteristics of taxis such as average travel time, average travel distance, and spatial distribution of taxi trips according to the time of the day and the day of the week. As a result, it is found that the most taxi trips were generated during the morning peak time (8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and after the midnight (until 1 a.m.) on weekdays. The average travel distance and travel time for taxi trips were 5.9 km and 13 minutes, respectively. This implies that taxis are mainly used for short-distance travel and as an alternative to public transit after midnight in a large city. In addition, we identified that taxi trips were spatially correlated at the traffic analysis zone(TAZ) level through the Moran's I test. Thus, spatial regression models (spatial-lagged and spatial-error models) for taxi trips were developed, accounting for socio-demographics (such as the number of households, the number of elderly people, female ratio to the total population, and the number of vehicles), transportation services (such as the number of subway stations and bus stops), and land-use characteristics (such as population density, employment density, and residential areas) as explanatory variables. The model results indicate that these variables are significantly associated with taxi trips.

  • High dimensionality and highly correlated features are the major characteristics of hyperspectral data. Linear projections such as LDA and its variants have been used in extracting low-dimensional features from high-dimensional spectral data. Regularization of LDA has been introduced to alleviate the overfitting that often occurs in a small-sized training data set and leads to poor generalization performance. Among them, a smoothness regularized LDA seems to be effective in the feature extraction for hyperspectral data due to its capability of utilizing the high correlatedness. This paper studies the performance of the regularized LDA in hyperspectral data classification experimentally with varying conditions of the training data. In addition, a new dual smoothness regularized LDA is proposed and evaluated that makes use of both the spectral-domain and spatial-domain correlations between neighboring pixels.

  • Data and information necessary for solving the spatial decision making problems are imperfect or inaccurate and most are described by natural language. In order to process these arts of information by the computer, the obscure linguistic value need to be described quantitatively to let and computer understand natural language used by humans. For this , the fuzzy set theory and the fuzzy logic are used representative methodology. So this paper describes the construction of the language model by the natural language that user easily can understand and the logical concepts and construction process for building the fuzzy inference mechanism. It makes possible to solve the space related decision making problems intellectually through structuring and inference used by the computer, in case of the evaluation concern or decision making problems are described inaccurate, based on the inaccurate or indistinct data and information.

  • According as IT environment changes from client/server system to the open system based on web service technologies, the exchange of data and services between independent applications and service servers in web environment is observed Recently. In this points, it is necessary that Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Imagery Information Systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems based on the location and geometry information are inter-related each other. But, the inter-relation of these systems is very difficult because of the closed system architecture, different information format, and the absence of interoperability technologies. In this Paper, we describe 4S integration system based web service technologies that accept the international standard as WFS, WCS, WRS of OGC (OpenGIS Consortium) and UDDI, SOAP, WSDL of W3C. In detail, we study the system architecture design and implementation of traffic information service, routing service, and tracing service. These services are consisting of the data schema based on XML and GML, various functions of each layered service, each server platform, and web server. Specially, we represent that GML is being applied to a wide range of location-based services, telematics, and intelligent transportation

  • In global shipping logistics, it is important for users to keep track of the location of their continuously moving cargos. Analyzing the GPS data stream coming from the tag which is attached to the cargo, we are able to keep track of the cargo location in terms of going into or out of a certain logistics area using the information of the spatial relationship change between the tag and the logistics area. In this paper, we propose a simulation system for measuring the precision and false alarm rate of the cargo location tracking algorithm which generates spatial events over the global logistics areas. Due to the difficulty of experiment with a real tag, we developed a tag emulator to create a virtual tag which operates exactly like a real tag. We show the cargo location tracking system works correctly with the tag emulator which communicates with it using the same protocol as the real tag.

  • Currently, museums and architectural heritage provide augmented user experiences by incorporating various media technologies. They still, however, suffer from the limitation of entertainment-based and the provision of location-based simple and repetitive contents. In addition, while acting as a key medium of experience for architectural heritage, the concept of space is not properly reflected in current services. The purpose of this study is to design user space experience considering such characteristics of architectural heritage. The spatial experience content and content production platform are defined. This software platform creates content that enhances the experience of the place by giving a context-based digital data associated with space and objects. The spatial experience content is designed as a series of experience sequences. The composition of the sequence borrows the method of film and narrative which segment and connect consecutive experiences on a scene basis considering user's detailed spatial experience. Therefore, content components can be combined and reproduced in various types. Augmented contents were extracted by using rule-based reasoning function of ontology at the moment. As a practical example of architectural heritage, the Seokjojeon Hall is used to reveal a spatial experience scenario.

  • Recently, it has been actively Semantic Web studies for 2-dimensional data of the spatial data. 2-dimensional Semantic Web, are fused existing Geospatial Web and the Semantic Web, and integrate with the efficient cooperation of the vast non-spatial information on a variety of geospatial information and general Web, it is possible to provide it is a Web services technology of intelligent geographic information. Therefore, in this paper, by applying a variety of base of the theory and technology related to this to take place the Ontology processing technology, multi-dimensional data processing is possible ontology, question, and suggested the contents of the reasoning. Also, we tried to apply what you have proposed respectively to the multi-dimensional query virtual scenario necessary.

  • Telematics is a wireless data communication system that provides various information services for driver's the safety or entertainment, and it makes drivers possible to use those services in the moving space, as if he/she is at home or at office. As telecommunication technology develops and Telematics market grows larger, standard platform for the intelligent telematics is required.   • Recent technological advances made a vehicle more intelligent to increase safety and comfort. An intelligent vehicle provides drivers with safety warning information through audible sounds, visual displays, and tactile devices. However, elderly drivers have been known to decrease the physical and cognitive abilities such as muscular strength, hearing, eyesight, short term memory, and spatial perception. Therefore, possible age-related deficits should be considered to design an effective warning system. This paper aims to evaluate the impact of advancing age on response performance on audible safety warnings which are widely used for alerting driving hazards. In order to understand the effect of age-related hearing loss and movement slowing, three sound characteristics (frequency, intensity, and period) and three age groups (younger, middle, and older) are considered. Data was drawn from 38 drivers who drove a simulated rural road in a driving simulator. Experimental results show that age influences driver's response performance. In conclusion, the appropriate range of a warning sound is suggested.

  • The purpose of this research is creating the visualization platform of the user interface to make able to be provide the demanded service while users communication with surrounding space in a smart city environment. This comes from the latest enhanced interface technology and social media, and it uses the shares information to support the proper interface environment according to a life style and spatial properties. "EzCity" which is the user interface platform suggested in this research, can control the enormous amount of public data for the smart city. The core module of user platform is made up with Public data module, Interface module, Visualization module and Service module. The role of this platform is to be provide "Geo-Intelligent Interface Service" for space users to access the data in easier and more practical interface environment. This reinforces the visualization process for data collecting, systematization, visualization and providing service. Also this will be expected to be the base to solve the problem which complexity and rapidly increasing amount of data.
