Design of an In-vehicle Intelligent Information System for Remote Management (차량 원격 진단 및 관리를 위한 차량 지능 정보시스템의 설계)

  • In the ubiquitous computing environment, an intelligent vehicle is defined as a sensor node with a capability of intelligence and communication in a wire and wireless network space. To make it real, a lot of problems should be addressed in the aspect of vehicle mobility, in-vehicle communication, common service platform and the connection of heterogeneous networks to provide a driver with several intelligent information services beyond the time and space. In this paper, we present an intelligent information system for managing in-vehicle sensor network and a vehicle gateway for connecting the external networks. The in-vehicle sensor network connected with several sensor nodes is used to collect sensor data and control the vehicle based on CAN protocol. Each sensor node is equipped with a reusable modular node architecture, which contains a common CAN stack, a message manager and an event handler. The vehicle gateway makes vehicle control and diagnosis from a remote host possible by connecting the in-vehicle sensor network with an external network. Specifically, it gives an access to the external mobile communication network such as CDMA. Some experiments was made to find out how long it takes to communicate between a vehicle's intelligent information system and an external server in the various environment. The results show that the average response time amounts to 776ms at fixed place, 707ms at rural area and 910ms at urban area.

Design of an Intelligent Streetlight System in USN

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent streetlight system that has a complex sensor module of temperature, humidity, luminance and motion detection and controlled by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system in order to get flexible and precise manipulation of the streetlight system in USN environment. The proposed streetlight system provides low power consumption and high efficiency by using sensed data from the complex sensor module, which were collected, processed, and analyzed by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system. The performance of the proposed streetlight system is to be evaluated by a simulation study in terms of power savings and safety at the fields constructed as a test-bed under several suggested scenarios. Finally, we know that the proposed intelligent streetlight system can maximize the energy savings efficiently with the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system and selective remote dimming control by connecting it to the wireless ubiquitous sensor network (USN) using a Zigbee module.

  • In this paper, unmaned fully automation systems are applied for the CSTR(Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor) and, SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) wastewater treatment pilot plant. This plant is constructed in the country side which is little far from a main city. So networks and wireless modules are employed for the data transmission. The SBR plant has a local control and monitoring system which is contained communication parts which consist of one ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) network and one CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) module. Remote control and monitoring systems are constructed at a laboratory in a metropolis.

  • The new MOV(motor-operated valve) diagnostic system MOVIDS(MOV intelligent diagnostic system) was developed. Its remote diagnostic methods with high accuracy have improved the applicability. This enables the diagnostic tests and the evaluations of many MOVs not only at the valves but also in remote places like MCCs(motor control centers). The remote diagnostic ability of the new system reduces the cost and the man power for diagnosing MOVs and eliminates the danger of the toxic or radioactive environments to which workers might be exposed.

  • The conventional electro-mechanical circuit break and relay are widely used in large-sized DC power system. However, recently due to high reliability, remote controllability and small power dissipation of a RSSPC(Remote Solid State Power Controller), high-friendly DC power systems have increasingly adopted the RSSPC as a essential element. In this paper, we have conducted a mathematical modeling to analyze the performance of the proposed RSSPC system with the optimal signal range for $I^2t$. Based on the calculation, the RSSPC system has been implemented by DSP.

The intelligent substation is build in Gochang 765kV testing facility and consists of electronic instruments, digital control panel, remote monitoring and diagnosis system and digital relay system. Rogowski coil type CT(RCT) and capacitive voltage divider(CVD) are applicable for instrument transformer of conventional type. Digital control panel(DCP) replaces local panel which is drived by mechanical operation. For monitoring condition of GIS and TR, various sensors are used. In this paper, we report the synopsis and the progress state of project.

  • Navigation simulators have been used in many marine schools and manne training centers since the early 1960's. But these simulators were very expens~ve and were almost limited only in one engine system. In this paper, a catamaran with twin engine system. controlled by two remote control levers and its economic simulator based on a personal computer shall be introduced. One of the main features of catamaran is to control variously its progressing direction. In the static state, a catamaran can move into all the directions and in the dynamic state, ship can change immediately the heading and speed. Although a good navigator can skillfully operate one engine system, it is difficult to control smoothly the catamaran of twin engine system without any threat for the safety of passengers. Thus. in order to bring up the expert navigators. the development of a simulator which makes the training effective is necessary, Therefore, in this paper, a Fuzzy Inference Technique based Maneuvering Simulator for catamaran with twin engine system was developed. In general. in order to develop a catamaran simulator for effective training, first of all. its mathematical model must be acquired. According to the acquired system modeling. the dynamics of simulator is determined, But the proposed technique can omit a complex and tedious mathematical modeling procedures by using the fuzzy inference, which dependent upon only experiences of an expert and can design an efficient training program for unskillful navigators. This developed simulator was consisted of two fuzzy inference routines and two remote control levers, and was focused on effective training of navigators for the safe maneuvering to avoid a collision in a harbor.

  • This study has been focused on the development of an open architecture CNC system and integration of core application technology for machine tool such as a remote monitoring/diagnosis system, NURBS interpolation, and cutting process simulation. To do this, we have developed a comprehensive CNC software including the basic HMI, screen editor, ASF, and visual builder. As a control hardware system for machine tool, the universal I/O module and CNC main unit have been developed. Then the remote monitoring/diagnosis system and NURBS interpolation have been implemented in the CNC software. The cutting simulation software will be used for enhancing the productivity of machine tools. Through a simulator and test bed, the whole technology has been verified.
