  • In this paper, we propose a humanoid active audition system which detects the direction of sound and performs speech recognition using just three microphones. Compared with previous researches, this system comprises simpler algorithm and better amplifier system having advantages to increase a detectible distance of sound signal in spite of simple circuit. In order to verify our system's performance, we install the proposed active audition system to the home service robot, called Hombot II, which has been developed at the KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology), thus we confirm excellent performance by experimental results

  • Conventional home audio system (e.g. AV Receiver, CD Player etc) has a various functionality of audio play, channel mixing, but the remote controller of these audio players is too complex, difficult for user to manage them effectively. Users want to use these functionalities with more easy, comprehensible way. In this study, "intelligent real-sound presentation technology" that support high quality, realistic audio and the "design of complex information and controller of real sound using intelligent real sound play and control interface" will be introduced. So user can actively, realistically enjoy and play real sound based on user's preference, emotion and circumstance, instead of user's passive service.

A Simple Control Method for Opening a Door with Mobile Manipulator

  • The home service robot supports human beings by performing various kinds of works at home. This paper presents a simple control method for opening a door from the viewpoint of the mobile manipulation. The simulation shows various results of path planning and motion planning for opening a door. The joint trajectories were generated by the simulation system. In general, a six-axis force/torque sensor at an end-effector is needed in order to maintain the static equilibrium of the manipulator. But we show another method. From three components of applied forces which was directly obtained by the three-axis force sensor and three components of applied forces which was indirectly estimated by the joint-torque sensors, all of joint torques that will exactly balance forces at the end-effector in the static situation can be found. It is more practical method than using a six-axis force sensor in a wrist. Experimental results have shown that the opening a door can be realized more effectively from the suggested control method of mobile manipulation.

  • Nowadays, there is called energy saving, that it is accomplished with a lot study and application development as according to demand of all around world. It is using to network device of wire or wireless such as internet, lan, plc, and zigbee and that we should be accomplished to study about method that spending a little cost to fatal error in control system that be expected of frequent occurrence on network, and that have method to do construction a little bit tried out. Also, in that such a embedded system with network function case, there is important thing that it is remote management to network node and control methods to trust because firmware upgrade have the advantage of more than the other device. In this paper, we have verified through a result of experiment for efficient remote management and control method as previously stated in this paper, that it is area of the PLC for sensor node and doing management to relay, and implementation of the LACC which is core part of the ESS, and in order to get a result to trust from doing analysis of capacity and test.

  • The paper attempts to design and implement the system which can remotely check visitors' speech or Image by a mobile phone. This system is designed to recognize who a visitor is through the automatic calling service, not through a short message, via the mobile phone, even when the home owner is outside. In general, door locks are controlled through the home Server, but it is more effective to control door locks by using DTMF signal from a real-time point of view. The technology suggested in this paper makes it possible to communicate between the visiter and the home owner by making a phone call to tile home owner's mobile phone automatically when the visiter visits the house even if the home owner is outside, and if necessary, it allows for the home owner to control the door lock remotely. Thanks to the system, the home owner is not restricted by time or space for checking the visitor's identification and controlling the door lock. In addition, the security system is improved by changing from the existing password form to the combination of password and speaker verification lot the verification procedure required for controlling the door lock and setting the environment under consideration of any disadvantages which may occur when the mobile Phone is lost. Also, any existing problems such as reconnection to tile network for controlling tile door lock are solved by controlling the door lock in real time by use of DTMF signal while on the phone.

  • In this paper, we implemented the integrated gateway for health care and home network system based on PLC(Power Line Communication) and Zigbee. The designed system is consists of sensors, integrated gateway, Zigbee module and PLC modem. The integrated gateway will transmit the data which is collected by health care sensors to health care control system and control an appliance for comfortable environment to medical facilities. The implemented gateway can support various health care and home network service.

  • Recently emphasizing the importance of security such as national major institutions' facilities or major industrial facilities for the maintenance of security/crime prevention due to specialization of the Green Information Technology(G-IT) and Green Ubiquitous Technology(G-UT) industry fields, The Security System Building linked high technology within the government-related organization, enterprise and army the military is urgently required. This paper is about the green USN intelligent an unmanned guard MUX system that receive the signals, from alarm device within surveillance area, with various ways of communication techniques and then transmit to local control center and remote control server trough TCP/IP network. This study enables the mutual senergy effect by realizing a total solution of an unmanned guard system and also significantly contributes to the global/domestic market expansion. That can be applied to the crime prevention/security fields in the Green Ubiquitous Environment Implemented Business(survalance-Home, Gu-City, Gu-Health, etc.), and will contribute to expand companies with international competitiveness that can provide the Green Ubiquitous Vision(Gu-Vision).

  • In this paper, we implemented an intelligent home service robot system which alerts users to danger by wireless internet platforms for interoperability(WIPI) of a cellular phone. This paper discusses the three parts of the system: robot, middleware and mobile system. First, the robot consists of a gas sensor, a fire detector, ultrasonic sensors, motors, a camera and a Bluetooth module. The robot perceives various danger circumstances. Second, the middleware connects the robot and the mobile system. It monitors the robot and sends emergency notification SMS message to the user's cellular phone if in danger. Third, the mobile system sends commands which control the robot using TCP/IP protocol. The proposed scheme is to control the sensors of the robot part through Atmega 128 processor, and the robot and middleware parts will be installed in the household, and will be controled by mobile part from the outside.

  • If an appliance perceives the location or health condition of a resident in the smart home, it can provide more intelligent service actively. That is, while the conventional appliance is operated by manual input of a resident, the location-based human adaptive appliance detects the resident's information such as location, activity pattern, or health condition by itself and provides the most suitable living condition for the resident autonomously. This paper presents the real-time location-based metabolic rate estimation method that measures the amount of physical activity (metabolic rate) for location-based human adaptive air-conditioner. And, the feasibility of the algorithm is evaluated experimentally on a test bed using the pyroelectric infrared sensor-based indoor location aware system (PILAS) that is a non-terminal-based location-aware system.

  • The growth of mobile devices in Internet of Things (IoT) leads to a number of intelligent buildings related IoT applications. For instance, home automation controlling system uses client system such web apps on smartphone or web service to access the home server by sending control commands. The home server receives the command, then controls for instance the light system. The gateway based RESTful technology responsible for handling clients' requests attests an internet latency in case a large number of clients' requests submit toward the gateway increases. In this paper, we propose the design tasks of the IoT gateway for handling concurrency events. In the procedure of designing tasks, concurrency is best understood by employing multiple levels of abstraction. The way that is eminently to accomplish concurrency is to build an object-oriented environment with support for messages passing between concurrent objects. We also investigate the performance of event-driven architecture for building IoT gateway using node.js on one side and communication protocol based message-oriented middleware known as XMPP to handle communications of intelligent building control devices connected to the gateway through a centralized hub. The Node.JS is 40% faster than the traditional web server side features thread-based approach. The use of Node.js server-side handles a large number of clients' requests, then therefore, reduces delay in performing predefined actions automatically in intelligent building IoT environment.
