The Paradigm Shift of Intelligence Information Society: Law and Policy (지능정보사회에 대한 규범적 논의와 법정책적 대응)

  • An Intelligent information society means intelligent superconducting society that goes beyond information society where information is centered. Now that artificial intelligence is specifically discussed, it is time to start discussing the laws and systems for intelligent information society, where artificial intelligence plays a key role. At some point it may be too late to cope with singularity. Of course, it is not easy to predict how artificial intelligence will change our society. However, there are concerns on what kind of relationship should humans build with AI in the intelligent information society where algorithms rule the world or at least support decision making of humans. What is obvious is that humans dominating AI or ruling out AI will not be the answer. Discussions for legal framework to respond to the AI-based intelligent information society needs to be achieved to a level that replaces the current human-based legal framework with AI. This is because legal improvement caused by the paradigm shift to the intelligent information society may assume emergence of new players-AI, robots, and objects-and even their subjectivation.

Self-Reconfiguration of Service-Oriented Application using Agent and ESB in Intelligent Robot (지능로봇에서 에이전트와 ESB를 사용한 서비스 지향 애플리케이션의 자가 재구성)

  • Intelligent Robots (IR) get data of the current situation from sensors and perform knowledgeable services. Self-reconfiguration of IR is an important factor to change itself without stopping while supporting environment and technology change. In this paper, we propose an agent based self-reconfiguration framework of IR using ESB (Enterprise Service Bus). This framework focuses on dynamic discovery and reconfiguration of service-oriented applications using multi-agent system in intelligent robots. When IR meets an irresolvable situation it downloads a necessary service agent from an external service repository, executes the agent, and resolves the situation. Agent technology provides an intelligent approach for collaborations of IR. The prototype has also been implemented to show the validity of our study.

Organizational Knowledge Acquisition: A Fuzzy GSS Framework (조직의 지식 획득: 퍼지 GSS 프레임웍)

  • Although the concept of viewing knowledge as a critical resource has been widely accepted in prior studies, it is not fully understood how to acquire available knowledge in order to improve organizational effectiveness. However, it si sure that organizational knowledge management should pursuit the achievement of the business goal by delivering relevant and useful information to the right person at the right time. Group Support System (GSS) can play an important role to transfer scatter information into meaningful business knowledge for supporting strategic corporate decision-making. This study proposes a fuzzy GSS framework for acquiring workgroup knowledge from individual memory and aggregating workgroup knowledge to organizational knowledge. This study also proposes an architecture to support the fuzzy GSS framework. The architecture consists of user agents, information management agents, and a fuzzy model manager. To illustrate how the fuzzy GSS framework can be used to support the whole process of organization knowledge acquisition, an Internet-based GSS was developed and applied in a marketing decision process. It showed that the framework was effective for acquiring organizational knowledge.

  • As robotic technology expands into various fields, robots need to execute some complicated tasks in diverse environments. However, the previous robotic software solutions were limited to independent systems. We can not adapt to diverse functionalities and environments. This makes it hard to provide rapid and effective services and leads to costs and losses in the development process. To overcome these problems, we propose a robot software framework with behavior trees based on ROS2. This framework simplifies complex robot behaviors through behavior trees and makes it easy to modify, extend, and reuse robot behaviors. Furthermore, ROS2 standardizes connections between software modules, enhances the robot's flexibility, and enables independent development and testing of software. Our framework aims to provide a foundation for high-quality robot service provision by supporting the modularity, reusability, independent development, and testing required by intelligent robots that need to provide services in various environments.

  • Recently, intelligent agents are demanded increasingly automated techniques for animation according to interaction with user or environment of the user. In this paper, we have studied a generic framework for intelligent agents based on emotions. Intelligent agents are designed to infer emotions from diverse personalities, situations, user behaviors and to express them. We research into the technique and the case study for intelligent agents based on emotions supposing autonomous and interactive animation.

  • Query language has been widely used as a convenient tool to obtain information from a database. However, users demand more intelligent query processing systems that can understand the intent of an imprecise query and provide additional useful information as well as exact answers. This paper introduces a meta-database and presents a query processing mechanism that supports a variety of intelligent queries in a consistent and integrated way. The meta-database extracts data abstraction knowledge form an underlying database on the basis of a multilevel knowledge representation framework KAH. In cooperation with the underlying database, the meta-database supports four types of intelligent queries that provide approximately or conceptually equal answers as well as exact ones.

  • In this paper, we developed an intelligent web based e-learning system based on multi agents. To do development of the system, we applied an inclination test that is based on the education theory to do grouping the desirable e-learning community. The proposed system, Intelligent Web based e-learning Multi Agent System (IMAS), is used the multi agents paradigm including learning manner by neural network for grouping of e-learning community and a new distributed multi agent framework proposed here.

  • Intelligent robots are being introduced and utilized to create new values in diverse fields such as medical care, national defense, education, and manufacturing. However, while the technical aspects of intelligent robots are spreading, the business side is lacking in recognition. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting product innovation through the introduction of intelligent robots in enterprises. Among the six variables secured from the technology, organization, and environment framework, only perceived direct usefulness and competitive pressure have significant effects on product innovation. The results imply that the effects of introducing robots are still in their early stage from a business perspective.

  • In this paper, we introduce visual contexts in terms of types and utilization methods for robust object recognition with intelligent mobile robots. One of the core technologies for intelligent robots is visual object recognition. Robust techniques are strongly required since there are many sources of visual variations such as geometric, photometric, and noise. For such requirements, we define spatial context, hierarchical context, and temporal context. According to object recognition domain, we can select such visual contexts. We also propose a unified framework which can utilize the whole contexts and validates it in real working environment. Finally, we also discuss the future research directions of object recognition technologies for intelligent robots.

  • In the age of IoT, in which everything is connected to a network, there have been increases in the amount of data traffic, latency, and the risk of personal privacy breaches that conventional cloud computing technology cannot cope with. The idea of edge computing has emerged as a solution to these issues, and furthermore, the concept of ultra-low power edge intelligent semiconductors in which the IoT device itself performs intelligent decisions and processes data has been established. The key elements of this function are an intelligent semiconductor based on artificial intelligence, connectivity for the efficient connection of neurons and synapses, and a large-scale spiking neural network simulation framework for the performance prediction of a neural network. This paper covers the current trends in ultra-low power edge intelligent semiconductors including issues regarding their technology and application.
