  • Thermo-mechanical behavior and mechanical properties of intelligent polymer matrix composite with SMA fiber are experimentally studied. It is found that increments of compressive thermal strain is observed as the pre-strain and TiNi volume fraction increase. The smartness of the SMA is given due to the shape memory effect of the TiNi fiber which generates compressive residual stress in the matrix material when heated after being prestrained. In the paper, alloy is based on the general purpose commercial code ANSYS. And for the purpose of easy and fast user's analysis, it is developed the Graphical User Interface by using Tcl/Tk language.

  • Accurate sensing of mechanical strains in civil structures is critical for optimizing structure reliability and lifetime. For instance, combined with intelligent control systems, electromechanical sensor output feedback has the potential to be employed for nondestructive damage evaluation. Application of Ionic Polymer Transducers (IPTs) represents a relatively new sensing approach with more than an order of magnitude higher sensitivity than traditional piezoelectric sensors. The primary reason this sensor has not been widely used to date is an inadequate understanding of the physics responsible for IPT sensing. This paper presents models and experiments defending the hypothesis of a streaming potential sensing mechanism.

  • In this paper, we propose a level of contexts such as low level and high level contexts, and its criteria of categorization are the existence of interaction and composite process done by the inference mechanism. When there is no matching high level service for the associated high level context, this context is described as meaningless. If the services cannot be provided with the entities by the system, this situational information is of little consequence. To provide services with the entities, we propose "community computing" architectural concept which provide the high level service to a group of agents in a community, and can be managed by the service scenario

  • An artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is developed for the optimum design of geometrically non-linear steel frames. The ABC is a new swarm intelligence method which simulates the intelligent foraging behaviour of honeybee swarm for solving the optimization problems. Minimum weight design of steel frames is aimed under the strength, displacement and size constraints. The geometric non-linearity of the frame members is taken into account in the optimum design algorithm. The performance of the ABC algorithm is tested on three steel frames taken from literature. The results obtained from the design examples demonstrate that the ABC algorithm could find better designs than other meta-heuristic optimization algorithms in shorter time.

  • Recent social needs for promoting traffic safety increased and the demand social security in economic, increasing the demand for environmentally friendly rail transport. In particular, when train express such as to secure reliability KTX(Korea Train eXpress) from potential disaster(fire) in the train operation caused by the train express running has been very important. Railroad fire extinguishing system is operated to fire exploding before reaching the flashing point more important than early to quickly detect because of CAN(Controller Area Network) communication to fire suppression and fire receiver, interface, fire fighting equipment from HMI((Human Machine Interface) and fire high-performance to research and development for intelligent composite fire receiver is required.

  • Stock market prediction is regarded as a challenging task of financial time-series prediction. There have been many studies using artificial neural networks in this area. Recently, support vector machines (SVMs) are regarded as promising methods for the prediction of financial time-series because they me a risk function consisting the empirical ewer and a regularized term which is derived from the structural risk minimization principle. In this study, I apply SVM to predicting the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI). In addition, this study examines the feasibility of applying SVM in financial forecasting by comparing it with back-propagation neural networks and case-based reasoning. The experimental results show that SVM provides a promising alternative to stock market prediction.

  • Robust control of a GFR composite beam with a distributed PVDF sensor and piezo-ceramic actuator is presented En this paper. Modal analysis method and modal coordinates are introduced to obtain the state educations of the structural system. 1st and 2nd natural frequencies are considered In the modeling, because robust control theory which is robustness to structured uncertainty is adopted to suppress the vibration. If the controllers designed by H$\^$$\infty$/ theory do not satisfy control performance, it is improved by ${\mu}$-synthesis method with D-K Iteration so that the ${\mu}$-controller based on the structured singular value satisfies the nominal performance and robust performance.

  • Seismic collapse analysis requires efficient and automated method to perform thousands of time history analyses. The paper introduced the advantages of speed and convergence property of explicit method, provided a few techniques to accelerate speed of calculation and developed an automated procedure for collapse assessment, which combines the strong capacity of commercial explicit finite element software and the flexible, intelligent specialties of control program written in FORTRAN language aiming at collapse analysis, so that tedious and heavy work of collapse analysis based on FEMAP695 can be easily implemented and resource of calculation can be made the best use of. All the key commands of control program are provided to help analyzers and engineers to cope with collapse assessment conveniently.

Shear deformable as well as thickness stretched model is used for derivation of the kinematic relations. Multi field governing equations are derived analytically through principle of virtual work. the results are analytically obtained analytically including magnetic/electric potentials, displacement and stress components with variation in multifield loading parameters.

  • The present paper examines the stability analysis of the buckling differentiae of the small-scale, non-uniform porosity-dependent functionally graded (PD-FG) tube. The high-order beam theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory are operated for the mathematical modeling of nanotubes based on the Hamilton principle. In this paper, the external radius function is non-uniform. In contrast, the internal radius is uniform, and the cross-section changes along the tube length due to these radius functions based on the four types of useful mathematical functions. The PD-FG material distributions are varied in the radial direction and made with ceramics and metals. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) and associated boundary conditions are solved via a numerical method for different boundary conditions. The received outcomes concerning different presented parameters are valuable to the design and production of small-scale devices and intelligent structures.
