  • This paper describes a design experience of a low-cost 6 DOF spatial tracker system where relative low accuracy and relatively long ranges, wireless communication will be achieved by means of low cost accelerometers and gyros with contemporary microprocessor. However, there are two key problems; one is the bias drift problem and the other is that single or double integration of acceleration signal suffers not only from noise but also from nonlinear effects caused by gravity. To be specific, beginning and stopping of hand motions needs to be accurately detected to initiate and terminate integration process to get position and pose of the hand from accelerometer and gyro signals, since errors due to noise and/or hand-shaking motions accumulated by integration processes. Several experimental results are shown to validate our proposed algorithms.

  • Interaction between fluid flow and thermal radiation has received considerable attention due to its numerous applications in engineering field. In this case the thermofluid properties of radiating fluid vary with the variation of temperature field caused by absorption and emission of radiant heat. To analyze the radiation heat transfer in radiating fluid, the simultaneous solution of the radiative transfer equation (RTE) and the fluid dynamics equations is required. This means that the numerical procedure used for the RTE must be computationally efficient to permit its inclusion in the other submodels, and must be compatible with the other transport equations. The finite volume method (FVM) and the discrete ordinates method (DOM) are usually employed to simulate radiation problems in generalized coordinates. These two representative methods are examined and compared, especially in view of the numerical integration of the radiation intensity over solid angle. The FVM shows better accuracy than the DOM owing to less constraints of the selection of control angle.

  • This paper addresses the integrated problem of process planning and scheduling in FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System). The integration of process planning and scheduling is important for an efficient utilization of manufacturing resources. In this paper, a new method using an artificial intelligent search technique, called asymmetric multileveled symbiotic evolutionary algorithm, is presented to handle the two functions at the same time. Efficient genetic representations and operator schemes are considered. While designing the schemes, we take into account the features specific to each of process planning and scheduling problems. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with those of a traditional hierarchical approach and existing evolutionary algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the compared algorithms.

  • Semantic quirks about the concept of metadata are briefly probed. The reasons behind the conceptual drift are also reviewed. Regarding different formats of metadata, the rationale behind the creation of new formats, their characteristics in relation to MARC format, and problems and methods of conversion or integration of metadata are investigated as background study. RDF (Resource Description Framework) as an integration tool for different metadata standards and Metadata Registry as a candidate for the purpose are studied and the both are compared. It is concluded that two approaches are not mutually exclusive, rather they are complimentary.

  • The database integration is being emphasized to one way of the companies collaboration. To database integration, companies are use like one database what their own, it can be provided more efficient service to customer. However, there exist some difficulty to database integration. that is the database security and database heterogeneity problems. In this paper, we proposed the MapReduce based p2p DBaaS hub system to solve database heterogeneity problem. The proposed system provides an environment for companies in the P2P cloud to integrate a database of each other. The proposed system uses DBaaS Hub for a collection of data in the P2P cloud, and use MapReduce for integrating the collected data.

  • Research in the decision sciences has continued to develop a variety of mathematical models as well as software tools supporting corporate decision-making. Yet. in spite of their potential usefulness, the models are little used in real-world decision making since the model solution processes are too complex for ordinary users to get accustomed. This paper proposes an intelligent and flexible model-solver integration framework that enables the user to solve decision problems using multiple models and solvers without having precise knowledge of the model-solution processes. Specifically, for intuitive model-solution, the framework enables a decision support system to suggest the compatible solvers of a model autonomously without direct user intervention and to solve the model by matching the model and solver parameters intelligently without any serious conflicts. Thus, the framework would improve the productivity of institutional model solving tasks by relieving the user from the burden of leaning model and solver semantics requiring considerable time and efforts.

  • A new finite element equation is derived by applying quadratic and cubic time integration scheme to the variational formulation in time-integral for the analysis of the transient elastodynamic problems to increase the numerical accuracy and stability. Emphasis is focused on methodology for cubic time integration scheme procedure which are never presented before. In this semidiscrete approximations of the field variables, the time axis is divided equally and quadratic and cubic time variation is assumed in those intervals, and space is approximated by the usual finite element discretization technique. It is found that unconditionally stable numerical results are obtained in case of the cubic time variation. Some numerical examples are given to show the versatility of the presented formulation.

  • As time-variant reliability approaches become increasingly used for service life prediction of the aging infrastructure, the demand for computer solution methods continues to increase. Effcient computer techniques have become well established for the reliability analysis of structural systems. Thus far, however, this is largely limited to time-invariant reliability problems. Therefore, the requirements for time-variant reliability prediction of deteriorating structural systems under time-variant loads have remained incomplete. This study presents a computer program for $\underline{REL}$iability of $\underline{T}$ime-Variant $\underline{SYS}$tems, RELTSYS. This program uses a combined technique of adaptive importance sampling, numerical integration, and fault tree analysis to compute time-variant reliabilities of individual components and systems. Time-invariant quantities are generated using Monte Carlo simulation, whereas time-variant quantities are evaluated using numerical integration. Load distribution and post-failure redistribution are considered using fault tree analysis. The strengths and limitations of RELTSYS are presented via a numerical example.

  • The cost of simulation modeling, the expertise required, and the pains of starting a new each time are impediments to more wide spread adoption of simulation technology. In addition, one of the most critical problems in the field of computer simulation today is the lack of published models and physical objects within the World Wide Web (WWW) allowing such distribution. From the viewpoint of WWW as distributed model repositories, it can be assumed that very many simulation models exist on the web. This paper is based on the premise that WWW is a distributed repository. Design Pattern, web-oriented technology like Java and CORBA, which are especially to cope with distributed objects, are introduced and discussed in detail for integration of simulation model. In this paper an architecture of model integration is proposed, which presents the whole procedure of model integration and how the Internet technologies are connected in. The central focus of this research is on the technical realization of integrating simulation models as distributed objects
