  • In recent years, it has been a worldwide trend that many power utilities gave their attention to develop and operate their power plants, substation and distribution systems. Following this trend, KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) has developed many electric automation systems with various communication networks. It has been natural that the automation systems are just focused on to remote devices when they come to be designed. But, we have to shirt the focus to the automation system itself. There are many problems in maintenance and integration of the automation systems. When an automation system can't control some remote devices, there is no way to get why and which part(Master, Network, Master-side Modem or Remote-side modem, Remote Device, etc.) of the system has problems. Moreover the system just directly links to another automation system. If the system has to link many systems, it needs the linker per each systems. So, we need a new concept to resolve that problems, and develop the Intelligent and Integrated Gateway(IIG) for the automation systems for easy maintenance and integration.

  • This paper presents a study of soil-structure interaction problems using infinite elements. The infinite elements are formulated for homogeneous and layered soil media, based on approximate expressions for three components of propagating waves, namely the Rayleigh, compressive and shear waves. The integration scheme which was proposed for problems with single wave component by waves. The integration scheme which was proposed for problems with single wave component by Zenkiewicz is expanded to the multi-waves problem. Verifications are carried out on rigid circular footings which are placed on and embedded in elastic half space. Numerical analysis is performed for a containment structure of a nuclear power plant subjected to a horizontal seismic excitation.

  • Currently, engineering design is carried out in a distributed manner geographically or physically. This imposes new requirements on the computational environments, such as efficient integration and collaboration in the Internet and network environments. Meanwhile, Web-based distributed design has led new paradigms in design and manufacturing fields. For example, Web-based technologies have reduced the product development time and to ensure a competitive product in order to exchange and interact of real-time design information that integrates the distributed design environment between departments as well as companies via Internet and Web. Hence, efficient data communication for design information sharing is the basis for collaborative systems in the distributed environments. Design data communication techniques such as CORBA, DCOM, and JAVA RMI have been considered in the existing research, but these techniques have some disadvantages such as limitations of interoperability and firewall problems. This paper presents the application of engineering design problems in which distributed design information resources are integrated and exchanged using Web Service for supporting XML and HTTP without interoperability and firewall problems.

  • Constraint Programming and Optimization have developed in different fields to solve common problems in real world. In particular, constraint propagation and linear Programming are their own fundamental and complementary techniques with the potential for integration to benefit each other. This intersection has evoked the efforts to combine both for a solution method to combinatorial optimization problems. Attempts to combine them have mainly focused on incorporating either technique into the framework of the other with traditional models left intact. This paper argues that integrating both techniques into an old modeling fame loses advantages from another and the integration should be molded in a new framework to be able to exploit advantages from both. The paper propose a declarative modeling framework in which the structure of the constraints indicates how constraint programming and optimization solvers can interact to solve problems.

  • The main purpose of this study is to seek better approach which explains reciprocal causality associated with factors causing social conflict and improving social integration respectively. Throughout this study, there are several important implications how social conflict can be solved in South Korea. In particular, government and policy makers in political sector should create an environment of social integration through political reforms by switching from vertical structure to horizontal structure and by encouraging ordinary people to actively participate in the policy-making processes and political activities. In economic sector, government and stakeholder associated with a certain economic issue should induce a change in the economic environment for social integration, focusing on distribution of wealth and employment stability. In social and cultural sectors, it is necessary to solve social and cultural problems (e.g., generation gap and conflict between the young and the old, multi-ethnic families, and lack of communication) by exploring better ways to establish an altruism and to interact with each other. In psychological sectors, PsyCap(Positive Psychological Capital) will help ordinary people to crate positive thinking and lead to social integration. For instance, political leaders having PsyCap are able to communicate with the people and can help the people to build positive main influencing on social integration. Finally, the improvement of the system is required because the improvement of insufficient system is the basis for reasonable and equitable social integration.

  • Although integrating design and marketing is critical for successful new product development (NPD), there has been a limited attention to the potential problems that arise during the NPD process and their possible solutions in academic literature. In order to narrow this gap, our study conducted a series of surveys of an interdisciplinary class project between marketing and design students over two year periods at one of U.S. universities. From the survey data collected from the total of 65 students who participated in the collaboration projects, we identified two most common problems: (1) conflict from the functional background, and (2) the conflict from imbalanced decision-making authority between design and marketing. In order to resolve such conflict, we found the two contrasting solutions: (1) facilitating communication and (2) prohibiting communication. Our findings contribute to the formation of a theoretical basis for research on the topic of design-marketing integration.

  • After the US government declared 3D printing technology a next-generation manufacturing technology, there have been many practical studies conducted to expand 3D printing technology to manufacturing technologies, called AMERICA MAKES. In particular, the Keck Center, located at the University of Texas at El Paso, has studied techniques for easily combing the 3D stacking process with space mobility and expanded these techniques to simultaneous staking techniques for multiple materials. Additionally, it developed convergence manufacturing techniques, such as direct inking techniques, in order to produce a module structure that combines electronic circuits and components, such as CUBESET. However, in these studies, it is impossible to develop a unified system using traditional independent through simple sequencing connections. This is because there are many problems in the integration between the stacking modeling of 3D printers and post-machining, such as thermal deformations, the precision accuracy of 3D printers, and independently driven coordinate problems among process systems. Therefore, in this paper, the integration method is suggested, which combines these 3D printers and subsequent machining process systems through an Internet-based cloud. Additionally, the sequential integrated system of a 3D printer, an NC milling machine, machine vision, and direct inking are realized.

  • The purpose of this study was to gain insights into investigating the feasibility on integrating computational thinking(CT) into school mathematics. Definitions and the components of CT were varied among studies. In this study, CT in mathematics was focused on thinking related with mathematical problem solving under ICT supportive environment where computing tools are available to students to solve problems and verify their answers. The focus is not given on the computing environment itself but on CT in mathematics education. For integrating CT into mathematical problem solving, providing computing environment, understanding of tools and supportive curriculum revisions for integration are essential. Coding with language specially developed for mathematics education such as LOGO, and solving realistic mathematical problems using S/W such as Excel in mathematics classrooms, or integrating CT into math under STEAM contexts are suggested for integration CT into math education. Several conditions for the integration were discussed in this paper.

  • With the popularization and application of artificial intelligence technology in daily life, new ethical and moral problems constantly appear in human society. These ethical and moral problems have been associated with people's moral behavior and have become crucial issues. In traditional social situations, researches have proved that moral intensity affects people's moral behavior. However, in the context of applying artificial intelligence technology, the mechanism between moral intensity and moral behavior is unknown. Therefore, this study focuses on the relationship between moral intensity and moral behavior in the context of applying artificial intelligence technology, and introduces a new concept - technology moral sense (TMS) into the theoretical model. Research method: We set various situations of applying artificial intelligence technology and adopt the situational experiment method to analyze the relationship between moral intensity and moral behavior in different application scenarios. The results show that moral intensity has a significant influence on moral behavior, while the technology moral sense performs a mediating function.

  • The structure change in the broiler industry of Korea has been taking place very rapidly toward the direction of integrated production and marketing system. During the course of the evolution into the integrated structure, however, a number of small business entities, uncountable nationally but a minimum of a dozen, that previously engaged in the supply of production factors or live bird transaction also tended to get involved in the new system as a disguised or pseudo-integrator, having brought a lot of problems not only to the farmers but also to the development of integrated structure. The pseudo-integrator is generally characterized by limited functions in such a way of supplying chicks and feeds to and collecting grown birds from farmers under the contract at a fixed farmer's payment in practically the same pattern as a partial or quasi-integration, which intends to act as if an integrator in a stratagem to simply enjoy a margin simply from selling supplies and buying products for a certain period of time. The grower making a contract with appears to be a farmer who used to be an Independent and speculating but not able to join in the normal system of evolving integration. The problems of a pseudo-integrator center on the financial loss to a contract farmer, because the falsified integrator has to become easily bankrupt and run away when the price of live broiler continually stays below the cost of production, even though he is able to make a tremendous profit otherwise which is the real purpose of the operation for. It is true that the volatile market, fluctuating the price up more than doubled in a month and down to a half in a few weeks, makes the pseudo-integrator find the room for such a fraudulence. In addition, its activity also adversely affect the evolution of the integration due to rather negative image on structure change in general. It is recommended that the farmers need to better understand the real picture of the integrated system so as not to be swindled by a disguised, small scale agribusiness agent. By the same token, it is also equally required to have the whole industry integrated completely as early as possible. The Joint effort to get rid of pseudo-integrators' problems shall be put for the industry development moving toward the integration. No doubt a pseudo-integrator must be a temporary player for chance emerging during the course of structure change into the integrated, though.
