  • In recent decades, as it becomes increasingly important to monitor and research long-term ecological changes, worldwide attempts are being conducted to integrate and manage ecological data in a unified framework. Especially domestic ecological data in South Korea should be first standardized based on predefined common protocols for data integration, since they are often scattered over many different systems in various forms. Additionally, foreign ecological data should be converted into a proper unified format to be used along with domestic data for association studies. In this study, our interest is to integrate ECN data with Korean domestic ecological data under our unified framework. For this purpose, we employed our semi-automatic data conversion tool to standardize foreign data and utilized ground beetle (Carabidae) datasets collected from 12 different observatory sites of ECN. We believe that our attempt to convert domestic and foreign ecological data into a standardized format in a systematic way will be quite useful for data integration and association analysis in many ecological and environmental studies.

  • The main objectives of this study are (1) to identify the conflict types in IS integration process with respect to M&A, (2) to propose the ways to manage the origin of conflict to be expected, and (3) to develop the conflict management model which establishes the relationship among the M&A strategy, the IS integration strategy and change management process that influence the source of conflict. In order to achieve these research objectives, this study focuses on banking industry under M&A with the viewpoint of change management instead of existing technology-oriented IS integration strategy. The findings of this study are thought not only to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out IS integration project under M&A but also to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of effective IS integration strategy.

  • TRA(Technology Readiness Assessment) quantitatively assesses the current level of domestic technology and is used as a key tool for determining the possibility of domestic R&D and risk management. However, since the current TRA utilizes hardware-oriented TRL(Technology Readiness Level), it is suitable for independent assessment of each technologies, but has limitations in evaluation from a system integration perspective. In addition, the checklist-based assessment is highly likely to involve subjective evaluation. This study proposes an enhanced TRA framework by redefining TRA procedures and criteria from the systems integration perspective of system engineering. We focused on developing a framework that overcomes the limitations of the current TRL/TRA and enables easier and more intuitive assessment. The proposed framework distinguishes between TE(Technology Element) and CTE(Critical Technology Element) in terms of HW, SW and interface and redefines TRL. TRA is performed according to the TRL redefined from the above three points of view, and the lowest evaluation value is used as system maturity level in consideration of risk management. The proposed CTE selection method minimizes the intervention of the evaluator by utilizing the quantitative goal of the key ROC(Required Operational Capability), development difficulty, and application of COTS(Common Off The Shelf) technology. The effectiveness of this framework was confirmed through a case study of the TSS(Target Surveillance System). It is hoped that starting with this study, research at the framework level will be activated and contribute to the improvement of the TRA system.

  • Integration of finite element analysis (FEA) software into various software platforms is commonly used in coupling systems such as systems involving structural control, fluid-structure, wind-structure, soil-structure interactions and substructure method in which FEA is used for simulating the structural responses. Integrating an FEA program into various other software platforms in an efficient and simple way is crucial for the development and performance of the entire coupling system. The lack of simplicity of the existing integration methods makes this integration difficult and therefore entails the motivation of this study. In this paper, a novel practical technique, namely CS technique, is presented for integrating a general FEA software framework OpenSees into other software platforms, e.g., Matlab-$Simulink^{(R)}$ and a soil-structure interaction (SSI) system. The advantage of this integration technique is that it is efficient and relatively easy to implement. Instead of OpenSees, a cheap client handling TCL is integrated into the other software. The integration is achieved by extending the concept of internet based client-server concept, taking advantage of the parameterization framework of OpenSees, and using a command-driven scripting language called tool command language (TCL) on which the OpenSees' interface is based. There is no need for any programming inside OpenSees. The presented CS technique proves as an excellent solution for the coupling problems mentioned above (for both linear and nonlinear problems). Application examples are provided to validate the integration method and illustrate the various uses of the method in the civil engineering.

  • This paper presents the formal integration of process planning and shop floor control with Petri net formalism. Formal integration means that both planning and control problems can be modeled, interfaced, and transformed with the Petri net formalism. This integrated framework provides a systematic approach for rapidly developing a formal shop floor controller from process planning with respect to shop floor configuration.

  • In order to overcome the problems of current approaches to metadata interoperability based on element mapping, this research proposed Master Element Framework that is an alternative approach to metadata interoperability. It is an approach to integrate metadata elements that have the same value, instead of direct mapping between similar elements. Master Element Framework is constructed to semantically integrate metadata elements in a hierarchical order and to interconnect between heterogeneous metadata standards. This approach is expected to be an alternative approach to metadata interoperability.

  • Purpose - This study aimed to examine how the integration of IT systems was applied in the merger and acquisition (M&A) process in a Korean retail industry, based on the conceptual framework of a combination of related, existing literature. Research design, data, methodology - We employed the case study method, which involved literature reviews and interviews. We conducted a documentary survey and interviews regarding the M&A case for company A. Results - Company A had an integration strategy and plan with IT expertise before it began integrating both IT systems in D-Day. The IT integration of both systems was completed efficiently and effectively. Company A utilized not just one but all integration options, which was done in stages and according to situation. Conclusions - Companies should develop an integration strategy and have a clear integration plan with IT expertise in order to achieve successful integration. Companies trying to integrate IT systems during an M&A process can utilize all integration options in consideration of their business context and IT system conditions.

  • The B2B electronic product commerce needs intermediary system to provide an integrated interface for the parts libraries of multiple suppliers. However, it is difficult to automatically integrate the parts libraries because they are heterogeneous. Existing ontology-based approaches show a limited functionality of automated integration of information because Dey can not prevent ontologies from being modeled in different ways, so that the inter-ontology mappings to resolve the heterogeneity become complicated and arbitrary. In order to overcome such problems this paper proposes an ontology modeling framework for parts libraries based on the Guarino's theory of upper ontology. The framework provides knowledge modeling primitives which have explicit formal meanings and modeling principles based on ontological natures. Using the framework, ontology developers can model the knowledge of parts libraries systematically and consistently, so that the resulting ontologies become comparable and uniform and the ontology merging algorithm for the automated information integration can be easily developed.

  • Enterprises utilize software development strategically within digital convergence of information technology. Software development direction of IT takes advantage of new technology through integration of across-the-board data and business process standardization and integration. But, software development environment of enterprises which globalization is accelerated gradually is doing cost-cutting effort with controls and administration about various reform activity. Nevertheless, have not normalized in customer's requirement according to project, there is visual point that excessive software development integration work and administration are necessary according as connection is not harmonious with new system. Therefore, in this study, to construct these real-time integration environment, do to propose database implementation that have productivity by deent, ing N-Tiers platform for building enterprise framework with development productivity presentation, middle(business) and data(EIS) tier that take advantage of MVC design pattern.

  • MDO framework, which provides multidisciplinary system design and optimization environment, requires integration of the analyses codes developed at various computer languages and operating systems, integration of CAD and DBMS, and development of complex GUI. Emphases must be given to the software modification and upgrades in conjunction with the analysis code addition and MDO method implementation. In this study, techniques about system integration and analysis code interface have been studied extensively, and the database design and communication methods which can handle the MDO methods like MDF and CO have been studied. Using the dedicated MDO framework developed for the air vehicle design, the multidisciplinary fighter aircraft wing design has been performed to demonstrate the efficiency and usefulness of the software. Optimum wing configuration is derived using the gradient-based optimization methods within thirty design iterations.
