  • HL7 is well-Known standard protocol for text data generated in hospital information systems. In this paper, we have to design to obtain useful vital sign information, which is generated at data receiver modulor of HIS, that is offered by the central monitor. Vital sign informations of central monitor is composed of the row data of several bedsite patient monitors. We are willing to maintain vital sign information of real time and continuity that is generated from the bedsite patient monitor. It is able to apply to remote medical examination and treatment. we proposed integration method between vital sign database systems and hospital information systems. Through the proper exchange and management of patient vital sign information, real time vital sign information management will offer better workflow to all hospital employee.

  • The Semantic Web enables machines to achieve an effective retrieval, integration, and reuse of web resources. The keyword search method currently used has a limit to accurate search results because of a simple string matching method in web environment. This paper proposes an Ontology-Based Information Retrieval which can solve the problems and retrieve better search results through semantic relations. In this system, we implemented the Cultural Assets Ontology based on OWL with RDQL and Jena API. we also suggest a method to handle properties stored in a database.

  • This study is about the criminal information system of police cooperation organization between European nations. The criminal information system of police cooperation organization between European nations is the organization created by the sign of the Europol convention in 26 July 1995 and the effectuation in 1 October 1998 for European nations' cooperative confrontation with frequent international terror, international organization crime, drug trafficking, illegal immigrant smuggling, and other critical crimes. From the beginning, this organization established the criminal information system for overcoming the working limits of previous international police organization. This system consists of information system, work file, and index system and enables every national unit or other law enforcement agents to collect, exchange, and utilize the information. Additionally, it try to keep in step with the rapidly change time, such as the integration with CMS, the establishment of correspondence system against cyber crime, and the introduction of biometric database. The criminal information system of the Europol gives important suggestions to the police cooperation organization between nations, besides prevention and suppression against the international crimes in Europe.

  • For the bridges managed by the municipalities, there is a need for a maintenance management system for the municipal governments for the scientific and systematic maintenance standard and the scientificization of the budget acquisition and execution through the quantified data base. The purpose of this study is to develop a system for efficient management of small bridgies maintained by the municipality and use ICT convergence technology such as BIM / GIS technology. The details of the system development include the development of the small bridgies maintenance program for mobile devices, the development of the small bridgies maintenance database, the development of the small bridgies integration maintenance management, and the reliability of the program system developed by checking the construction and operation contents of the small bridgies test-bed. The developed program system is linked to the development of smart name plate and reader module of non - power system.

  • Creating digital document by scanning paper or using a digital camera or using a computer is a daily task at every office. Digital document is increasing at high pace. The quantity of digital document is almost beyond the maximum capacity of the online storage and is destroying searching efficiency. To solve these problems, we developed a document management system(ChronoStar) by integrating various searching methods(Picture, Full-Text Related), 3D graphic and a DVD changer.

  • Picture Archiving and Communication Systems(PACS) provide an integration of digital imaging information in a hospital, which encompasses various imaging equipment, viewing workstations, database archive systems, and a high speed fiber optic network. One of the most important requirements for integration is the standardization of communication protocols to connect devices from different vendors. Since 1985, the ACR-NEMA standard provides a hardware interface, a set of software commands, and a consistent set of data formats for point-to-point interconnection of medical equipment. However, it has been shown to be inadequate for PACS networking environments, because of its point-to-point nature and its inflexibility to allow other services and protocols in the future. Based on previous experience of PACS developments in The University of Arizona, a new communication protocol for PACS networks has been suggested to the ACR-NEMA Working Group VI. The defined PACS protocol is intended to facilitate the development of PACS's capable of interfacing with other hospital information systems. Also, it is intended to allow the creation of diagnostic information data bases which can be interrogated by a variety of distributed devices. A particularly important goal is to support communications in a multivendor environment. The new protocol specifications are defined primarily as a combination of the International Organization for Standardization / Open Systems Interconnection (ISO/OSI) protocols and the data format portion of ACR-NEMA standard. This paper addresses the specification and implementation of the proposed PACS protocol into network node. The protocol specification, which covers Presentation, Session, Transport, and Network layers, is summarized briefly. The implementation has natural extentions to Global PACS environments. The protocol implementation is discussed based on our implementation efforts in the UNIX Operating System Environment. At the same time, results of performance evaluation are presented to demonstrate the implementation of defined protocol. The testing of performance analysis is performed on the PACS prototype node.

  • As DNA microarrays are widely used recently, the amount of microarray data is exponentially increasing. Until now, however, no domestic system is available for the efficient management of such data. Because the number of experimental data in a specific laboratory is limited, it is necessary to avoid redundant experiments and to accumulate the results using a shared data management system for microarrays. In this paper, a system named WEMA (WEb management of Micro Arrays) was designed and implemented to manage and process the microarray data. WEMA system was designed to include the basic feature of MIAME (Minimal Information About a Microarray Experiment), and general data units were also defined in the system in order to systematically manage the data. The WEMA system has three main features: efficient management of microarray data, integration of input/ouput data, and metafile processing. The system was tested with actual microarray data produced by a molecular biology laboratory, and we found that the biologists could systematically manage and easily analyze the microarray data. As a consequence, the researchers could reduce the cost of data exchange and communication.

  • There have been a number of expert systems which are concerned with the design of machine elements such as gear, shaft, bearing and so on. However the design of more complicated systems such as gear dreives are still difficult. Thus, in consideration of the integrative nature of the system, we develop a design support system for gear drives which is composed of various machine elements-gear, shaft, bearing, key and so on. Design systems for each machine element are developed and integrated through object-oriented approach. Databases essential for data reference and/or data control in the design process are built up independently and interface to the main program. Expert systems are also developed and integrated for intelligent support to the designer, in those of the determination of gear specification and the selection of bearing types. Through the integration of design environment for each machine element, it is expected to increase the convenience in the design process and the stability of the design solution. And also the system management, including addition of various design/analysis modules and expansion to the gear drives of other types, can be conveniently achieved since the system has developed under due consideration of its efficiency and expandability through object-oriented programming approach.

  • It is an important matter to manage data gathered from equipment in the manufacturing environment. However, systematic management about these data is sparsely deployed in the practical fields. This paper proposes a middleware monitoring system that efficiently supports acquisition of data from the equipment, efficiently compensates the lost data and flexibly maintains extensibility of the system. Through the result system of this paper, the data gathered from the equipment are easily stored into the database and the system status is able to be monitored in real-time. Furthermore, because the data are stored in the XML format, they are utilized in other systems in straightforward manner, which enhances the interoperability of the system. Especially, it enables ease interface to SAP, implements light-weight system by a simplified business logic and strengthen the extensibility and maintenance ability.

  • A mediator-wrapper system, which is one of integration methods of heterogeneous databases, preserves a virtual integrated view rather than physical movement of the contents of each database. In order for a mediator to preserve a virtual integrated view, it requires the schema manager of the wrapper which communicates with local databases. This paper presents a schema manager of a wrapper that provides a mediator with XML schema which is generated from relational database schema. The XML schema manager supports a user-defined XML view. We present the view tree model which is used for materializing the use-defined XML view to generate XML schema, and the conversion algorithm based on the proposed view tree model. This model is can be uniformly applied to all schema managers of heterogeneous information sources.
