  • With an increasing aging population and improved standards of living, more attention has been paid to health. Although walking exercise is known as an aerobic exercise, it imposes repeated and continuous impacts on the joints of the lower extremities. Therefore, when overweight gives a burden to the lower extremity or there is a joint disease, exercise limit occurs. The articular cartilage, weakened with age, also makes it difficult for the elderly to perform walking exercises. Accordingly, this study conducted a comparative analysis between regular walking using only the lower extremity and Nordic walking, which has been known as stable. For analysis, electromyography (EMG) was performed and the ground reaction force of the upper and lower extremities were measured in the same exercise. Integrated EMG (iEMG) revealed that the upper extremity muscles were more active in Nordic walking than in regular walking, where lower extremity muscles were relatively more inactive. In addition, when EMG measurements were performed at each measurement point during walking exercise, the pattern was different. Nevertheless, the result was the same as in iEMG. The load that occurs in each exercise was measured using the ground reaction force system. As a result, Nordic walking had a lower load than regular walking. Therefore, it was found that Nordic walking minimized the load on the lower extremities owing to the effect of whole-body exercise and was a safer and more efficient exercise method.

  • The modern political scientist Liang, qi-chao (1873-1929), who insisted on the richness of China, was a major axis of Korean intellectuals in the nineteenth century. His patriotism for Chinese reconstruction oppressed by Western powers has greatly influenced Korea 's will to build a modern nation. There was military power and physical education at the center of Liang, qi-chao thought. He emphasized military strength through military strength with a strong stamina, so he mentioned the necessity of military and physical education. Based on the idea of this kind of Liang, qi-chao, the korean intellectuals believed that the Korean people should be born healthy through physical education. The initial introduction of physical education in Korea was integrated with the Military Sports. For the first time, Being introduced Western Sports in 1895, The fact that the army athletic gymnastics was first introduced into school education in 1896 proves this oneness. Moreover, Ethnic scholars continued to focus on fostering strong nationality through physical education based on the spirit of Liang, qi-chao, and was emphasizing the gymnastics of the military sportsman at the central idea.

  • The barbell squat is a fundamental physical exercise for strengthening the lower body and core muscles. It is an integral part of training and conditioning programs in sports, rehabilitation, and fitness. In this paper, we proposed a virtual test framework for squat exercises using a Smith machine to simulate joint torques and muscle forces, based on an integrated product-human model and motion synthesis algorithms. We built a muscular skeletal human model with boundary conditions modeling the interactions between the human body and a machine or the ground. To validate the model, EMG, external forces, and squat motions were captured through physical experiments by varying the foot position. A regression-based motion synthesis algorithm was developed based on the captured squat motions to generate a new motion for a given foot position. The proposed approach is expected to reduce the need for physical experiments in the development of training programs.
