The budget for the acquisition and R&D for the national defence systems has come out of tax payers' pockets. On the other hand, the weapon systems become more complex and thus the underlying costs tend to increase continuously. As such, the need for efficiently managing the budget has drastically increased. In accordance with this necessity, the Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) of Korea has issued the instruction No.65 dictating that systems engineering (SE) must be applied when weapon systems are acquired or developed in Korea. Specifically, a list of the products that should be generated from the acquisition programs is provided. The problem is that the unexperienced companies in the defence systems industry cannot easily know how to approach the new regulation. The purpose of this study is to devise a possible remedy to solve the problem. To do so, we first review the list of the products that are required by DAPA. Then, an appropriate systems engineering processes is studied for each product. Then, a necessary link between each product and SE process activity is identified and summarized. The result obtained may be useful as a stepping stone to develop more efficient method for the list of the products.
Objectives : The authors investigated the practice of sleep hygiene and its effectiveness in general population who had experienced insomnia. If we find the items which be little practiced but especially effective, we would establish empirical an and theoretical basis to design the treatment program for insomnia, therefore apply it in clinical practice. Methods : The 226 subjects who had experienced insomnia, were at the age above 18 in Seoul, Korea. The questionnaire included the demographic data, the experience of insomnia, and the practices and effects of sleep hygiene instruction. The interview was administered face to face by the investigators. Results : The subjects reported that they practiced many of the sleep hygiene items related with arousal in sleep setting, and that those items were effective. The items such as 'get regular exercise each day(H)', 'take a hot bath(H)', 'concentrate on the pleasant feeling of relaxation(A)' were not usually practiced, but these items were reported very effective for sleep. Conclusion : The findings suggested that there were sleep hygiene items which should be educated and directed to practice actively in treatment program for insomniacs. Some items, which were especially reported low practice but highly effective, would be recommended to be studied about each therapeutic effectiveness in follow-up studies.
The purpose of the study was to develop a teaching strategy using metacognition and to investigate its effects on enhancing students' creative problem solving skills (i.e. creative thinking skills and critical thinking skills), metacognitive skills. With reference to previous studies, the researcher developed self-questionnaire to enhance metacognition. To achieve this aim, a learning strategy enhancing metacognition was developed and applied to design a creative problem solving instruction program. The strategy was implemented to university students over 9 weeks. The same test was used in two groups. To analyze the data statistically, ANCOVA was used. Results indicated that the experimental group presented statistically meaningful improvement in creative thinking skills, especially identifying a problem, making hypothesis, and controlling of variables(p<.05). Also, the strategy contributed to improve critical thinking skills, especially in inquiry process of recognizing problems, making hypothesis(p<.05). In addition, this strategy also helped students' metacognitive skills(p<.05). It was effective to improve thinking skills. It will contribute to improve convergence thinking skills.

The purpose of this study is to analyze changes of competency observed in teaching of pre-service science teachers through the teaching evaluation and reflective journal writings on science class during the period of student-teaching at high school. To do this, we videotaped all the science classes of six pre-service teachers participating in this study, evaluated their class teachings, and collected moving video clips recorded in their classes, reflective journals, interviews, instructional materials, and teaching evaluation they have provided. From the "Standards for teaching evaluation of science instruction" developed by Korea Education Curriculum and Assessment, sixteen evaluation elements were selected and used for the analysis. According to our results, all preservice teachers show improvement of teaching performance in most of the class evaluation elements as the number of science classes increases. They presented the lowest improvement in the 'to design meaningful learning program,' which was one of the sixteen elements. However, there are substantial individual differences in the pre-service teachers' teaching competence on each evaluation element. Although they thought that 'understanding of scientific concepts' is the most important part of a science class in the beginning of student-teaching training, they showed changes in recognition that 'interaction and respect' and 'managing student behaviors' are also important in the end. They have recognized that writing a reflective journal, based on the video clips recorded in class and teaching evaluation, helps improve their teaching competency. In addition, improvement in teaching competency has influence upon career-orientation towards the school teacher in the future.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to develop an infant sleep health education program using a video for SIDS prevention education and to measure the effects of the program. Methods: The infant sleep health education program consisted of presentations and motor images. The formation of educational material was directed by the systematic design of instruction. Participants in this study were 59 primiparous women from postpartum care centers. The instruments used in this study were criterion referenced test items for knowledge about infant sleep health and confidence inventory. Experimental group I was given the treatment of infant sleep health education program. Experimental group II was given the program using a video reinforcement after 2 weeks. On the other hand, control group was given no treatment. Results: There was a significant increase in knowledge and confidence in the performance of mother's roles of both experimental group I and experimental group II over the control group. No significant difference was founds for knowledge and confidence in the performance of mother's roles between experimental group I and II. Conclusion: The results indicate that this program is a very effective intervention for better sleep health in infants by helping the mothers increase confidence in their role performance.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of biology contents of cyber home learning systems which provided by 16 metropolitan and provincial offices of education. The contents were evaluated by the 9 categories: needs assessment, instruction design, learning contents, teaching & learning strategy, interaction, supporting system, evaluation, ethicality and copy right. The result showed that the contents have advantage in detailed learning goal, useful learning environment, learning activities by level, and various learning parts material, but lack in evaluation method tool for personal learning by level and the latest learning material. Based on this results, it is expected that the barrier of the efficient learning contents should be searched for the complement, as well as the development high-quality educational contents and the management of cyber home learning system.
Currently robots are widely used in schools for educational purpose. With wide spread of robot-based education, it is known that major advantage of robot-based education is to enhance creativity and logical thinking of students. Although robots can be very useful tools for assisting students' study activities, there have not been lots of teaching-learning models for robot-based education. In this paper, a teaching-learning model is presented for robot-based education. The proposed model is designed based on constructivism. The proposed model consists of 6 stages: preparation, design, assembling, demonstration run, evaluation, and application & extension. The proposed model has the following characteristics. First, the proposed model is designed to enhance creativity and logical thinking ability of learners. Learners are supposed to be involved in self-directed activities and required to provide results based on their own ideas. Teachers are supposed to mediate students only if necessary. Second, learners are encouraged to participate in activity via diverse interaction. The interaction in this model includes learner-to-learner interaction, learner-to-teacher interaction, and learner-to-expert interaction. The proposed model encourages learners to solve the problem with cooperating each other. Also, teachers are supposed to guide students if necessary and observe and monitor behavior of students all the time. Third, motivation is provided in the beginning stage of the instruction. Fourth, in the proposed model, both study results and study process are equally important. In the model, study process is reviewed at the final stage.

This is an action research study of mixed methodology design to confirm the implementation process and effects of applying visual thinking and window paning on improving nursing ethics and professional courses. Based on the conceptual model for action research, a quantitative and qualitative approach was taken. The data was collected and analyzed in an integrated manner. The survey analysis was done using the SPSS WIN 23.0 program. The participants were interviewed after experiencing the techniques in class and content analysis was used on the answers. As a result of applying visual thinking and window paning, ethical decision-making confidence (t=6.748, p<.001) and nursing professional intuition (t=-3.52, p<.001) showed statistically significant changes. There was, however, no significant change in biomedical ethics consciousness (t=1.291, p=.199). Qualitative analysis found that they had fresh experience, an unfamiliar but comfortable feeling, feeling of being mine, insufficient time, systematic case study approach based on theory, were able to cultivate cooperation and coordination ability through discussion and experience in various professional fields, pride, ethical responsibility consciousness and were able to apply learning content in the field. Visual thinking and window paning foster diverse competencies in nursing education and help integrative learning. Therefore, based on the results it is proposed that visual thinking and window paning are applied to the improvement of instruction in other courses to develop core nursing competency.
