Coil Spring Inspection for Reliability Assurance of Automobile Suspension System using Guided Wave

  • Coil spring of automobile suspension system is very important to safety and dynamics of passenger car and requires a highly advanced quality control during manufacturing processes. Surface cracks on the coil spring rod produced by mechanical machining and heat treatment may cause a severe accident and large cost to the manufacturer. In order to detect surface cracks of the rod, guided wave technique is applied for a fast total volumetric inspection. Pochhammer equation is studied to investigate the dispersion characteristics of the guided wave in the spring rod and optimal wave modes sensitive to the surface crack are selected experimentally to design the experimental arrangement for the generation of guided wave. Rod samples with different size of artificial axial EDM notch on the surface ranging from 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 1 mm are examined by guided wave and inspection results discussed.

항공기 부품 신뢰도 분석평가체계 개발 및 운영개념 연구 (A Study on Developing & Operating Concept of Reliability Analysis & Evaluation System for Aircraft Parts)

  • 본 연구는 최적의 정비주기 산정을 위해 공군의 항공기 정비정보체계(AMMIS, Aircraft Maintenance Management Information System) 및 상태검사의 데이터 분석을 통하여 항공기 부품 신뢰도 분석평가체계를 개발하기 위한 개념설정 및 운영방안에 대한 내용이다. 항공기부품의 고장자료를 선별하여 추출한 후 신뢰도 소프트웨어를 활용해 정비주기를 개선하고 상태검사시 측정한 고장 추세를 통계 소프트웨어로 분석하여 검사 주기를 재설정하는 방법을 통해 항공기 부품 신뢰도 분석평가체계의 운영 모델을 제시한다.

연구실 점검 및 진단 대가기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on Pricing Criteria of the Laboratory Safety Inspection and Diagnosis)

  • Laboratory inspection and diagnosis is a means of investigating and assessing various hazards or the state of research equipment in a laboratory, then taking appropriate safety measures to prevent accidents and injury. In many cases, laboratory inspection and diagnosis carried out by agencies are performed in a perfunctory manner that only barely satisfies the legal requirements. The aim of the present study is to provide clearly established pricing criteria for laboratory inspection and diagnosis, so as to prevent recurrence of laboratory accidents and to establish a safe laboratory environment. In order to clarify previously unclear matters, such as the lower limit for bids submitted by laboratory inspection and diagnosis agencies, technical manpower requirements, and number of laboratories inspected and diagnosed per day, a questionnaire survey was administered to agency personnel. First, when asked what the lower limit for bids submitted by agencies should be in order to improve reliability of inspection and diagnosis results and make up for the shortcomings of the lowest-bidder-wins system, 85.5% of respondents answered that the lower limit for bids should stand at no lower than 90% of the estimated price. The level of technical expertise among the technical personnel committed to laboratory inspection and diagnosis was shown to impact the reliability of results, and questionnaire results indicated a need to vary technical expertise levels depending on the degree of hazard, substances handled, and equipment used in a given laboratory. Level of technical expertise(67.1%) and number of personnel(52.6%) were shown to have a greater impact on reliability of diagnosis than on reliability of inspection. According to the results, it is determined that three persons(specialist, advanced and intermediate) should be committed to inspections, while four persons(professional, specialist, advanced and intermediate) should be committed to diagnoses. The respondents indicated a larger number of laboratories could be inspected than diagnosed per day. This can be attributed to differences in the amount of work each task involves, and the time each task takes. Assuming a six-hour work day not counting transportation, paperwork and rest, it is thought that inspection of up to 36 laboratories will be possible if each laboratory is assigned no more than 10 minutes(34.7%), while up to 24 laboratories could be inspected and diagnosed if each laboratory is assigned 15 to 20 minutes(35.1%).

다중센서 신호특성 최적화를 통한 와전류검사 신뢰성 개선연구 (The Study on Reliability Improvement in Eddy Current Inspection by Signal Characteristic Optimization of Multi-coil Array Probe)

  • This paper introduces reliability improvement and time saving in eddy current inspection by signal characteristic optimization of multi-coil eddy current array probe. In the past, Multi-coil array probe and single probe were used for the gas turbine rotor surface inspection & defect evaluation. The multi-coil array probe was used for the broad area inspection. But the signal deviations among multi-coil array probe are maximum 28% in commercial probe. This differences were considered to impedance differences among coils, so it is very difficult to evaluate exact defect size. The signal deviations among multi-coil array probe are maximum 28% in commercial probe. So, single coil inspection was used for exact defect sizing. The purpose of this study is to improve signal deviations of multi-coil array probe. The introduced new technology can improves this deviation by adjusting input voltage in each coil. At first, apply same voltage in each coil and collect signal amplitude of each coil. And calculate new input voltage based on signal amplitude of each coil. If the signal amplitude deviation is within 5% among multi-coil array probe, the signal amplitude of multi-coil array probe is reliable. The proposed technology gives 2% signal deviation among multi-coil array probe. The proposed new technology gives reliability improvement and inspection time saving in eddy current inspection.

Application of Generic Algorithm to Inspection Planning of Fatigue Deteriorating Structure

  • Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to obtain optimal Inspection plan for fatigue deteriorating structures. The optimization problem is defined so as to minimize inspection cost in the 1ifs-time of the structure under the constraint that the increment of failure probability in each inspection interval is maintained below a target value. Optimization parameters are the inspection timing and the inspection quality. The inspection timing is selected from the discrete intervals such as one year, two years, three years, etc. The inspection quality is selected from the followings; no inspection, normal inspection, sampling inspection or precise inspection. The applicability of the proposed GA approach is demonstrated through the numerical calculations assuming a structure consisting of four member sets. Influences of the level of target failure probability, initial defect condition and stress increase due to plate thickness reduction caused by corrosion on inspection planning are discussed.

저장신뢰도 기반의 △△ 유도탄 검사주기 분석 (Analysis of △△ Guided Missile Inspection Period Based on Storage Reliability)

  • 유도무기(정확히 유도탄)는 고가의 장비로서 발당 0억을 호가하며, 납품 후 장기간 저장되는 특성을 반영하여 설계되므로 내부 구성품은 물론 유도탄 자체도 매우 높은 신뢰도를 가지게 된다. 이러한 유도탄의 신뢰도는 샘플링 검사결과를 바탕으로 전체 모집단의 신뢰도를 추정하여야 하나, 개발 간에는 개발기간이나 일정, 비용 등의 현실적인 문제로 실제 검사보다 수학적 분석이나 가속수명시험 등을 이용하여 저장신뢰도를 예측한다. 그러나 개발 시 제시되는 저장신뢰도는 예측값으로 실제 저장신뢰도와는 차이가 있을 것임에도 불구하고, 현재 우리 군(軍)은 유도탄 개발시 예측된 저장신뢰도를 기준으로 저장관리(주기검사)를 실시하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 우리나라에서 10년 이상 저장되어 데이터가 축척된 ${\triangle}{\triangle}$유도탄의 야전점검 데이터를 수집하여 실제 저장신뢰도를 분석하고 현재 실시되고 있는 검사주기의 타당성 검토와 실질적인 저장신뢰도 확인방법을 제시하고자 작성되었다. 최근 실시된 특별검사결과를 토대로 저장신뢰도를 분석한 바 검사주기는 18년 이상으로 연장 가능함이 확인 되었고, 이에 따라 검사주기의 재 설정 및 실질적인 저장신뢰도 확인 방법을 제안한다.

  • Some systems such as missiles and ammunitions are used only one time in combat or emergency situation. Predicting correct storage reliability is very important for those systems which are inspected periodically. Many researches have been done for predicting the storage reliability using generally exponential or Weibull failure distribution. However, recent studies show the hazard functions follow various types of failure distributions. So in this paper, we proposed a generalized model that measures the storage reliability regardless of type of failure distributions. And this model reflects inspection error and failures that might be occurred during periodical check and within storage term as well.

  • Based on the recent developments of the reliability-based structural analysis and design as well as the extending knowledge on the probabiliistic characteristics of load and resistances, the probability based design criteria have been successfully developed for many standards. Since the probabilistic characteristics depend highly on the local load and resistances, it is recognized to develop the design criterion compatible with domestic requirements. The existing optimum design methods, which are generally based on the structural theory and certain engineering experience, do not realistically consider the uncertainties of load and resistances and the basic reliability concepts. This study is directed to propose a optimum design based Expected Total Cost Minimization on P.S.C Box Girder Bridge system which could possibly replace optimum design based traditional provisions of the current code, based on the Neldel-Mead Method reliability theory.

  • ITS 장비의 체계적인 성능평가는 그 장비의 성능을 일정 수준 이상으로 유지하여 수집 가공 제공 정보의 신뢰성을 확보하기 위한 단계로 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 우리나라에서는 2001년의 "교통체계효율화법"에 ITS 장비의 성능평가와 관련하여 법적 근거가 마련되어 있음에도 불구하고 ITS 장비에 대한 검 교정이 체계적으로 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 체계적이고 효율적인 ITS 장비의 검 교정체계 구축을 위한 기반을 마련하고자 한다. 이를 위해 국내외의 유사 사례와 ITS 이외 분야의 모범사례를 분석하여 검 교정체계 현황 및 절차 등을 개관하고 정책적인 시사점을 분석하여 제시한다.
