스윙암 방식의 형상 측정기를 이용한 대형 반사경의 정밀가공에 관한 연구 (Study on Fabrication of a Large Concave Mirror Surface Using a Swing-Arm Type Profilometer)

  • Generally optical components are fabricated by grinding, lapping and polishing processes. Those processes take long time to obtain optical high surface quality. In the case of large optical components, the on-machine measurement is strongly recommended because the workpiece is fragile and difficult to set up for fabricating and measuring. This paper is concerned about a swing-arm mechanism which can be used for on-machine measurement of a surface profile with a sensing probe end-effect, and also for grinding or lapping the surface with a corresponding tool. The measuring accuracy and uncertainty using a swing arm type profilometer have been studied. The experimental results show that this method is useful specially in lapping process with the accuracy of $5{\mu}m$. Those inspection data are provided for correcting the residual figuring error in next processes.

이동 로보트의 계단 승월을 위한 계단 크기 인식 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Recognition Method of the Stair Size for the Climbing Mobile Robot)

  • A mobile robot in a nuclear power plant is usually needed to equip the ability of going up and down stairs for a some kind of inspection. For this purpose, it is necessary for the mobile robot to figure out the size of stairs laid on a navigation path to gurantee robot's moving freely. In this paper, to measure the size of stairs existing in front of a mobile robot we designed the stair size recognition unit which can measure the stair's height and width using an ultrasonic sensor and/or a CCD camera. Also to obtain higher reliability of ultrasonic sensing data we proposed the horizontal sensing method. On the assupmtions that the mobile robot generates a trajectory while ascending stairs, we simulated it on a IBM compatible computer. The result showed that the suggested method satisfied our purpose. In a stair size estimation, the detected stair's height error was about .+-.3mm, and width was about .+-.5mm.

Visual Bean Inspection Using a Neural Network

  • This paper describes a neural network based machine vision system designed for inspecting yellow beans in real time. The system consists of a camera. lights, a belt conveyor, air ejectors, and a computer. Beans are conveyed in four lines on a belt and their images are taken by a monochrome line scan camera when they fall down from the belt. Beans are separated easily from their background on images by back-lighting. After analyzing the image, a decision is made by a multilayer artificial neural network (ANN) trained by the error back-propagation (EBP) algorithm. We use the global mean, variance and local change of gray levels of a bean for the input nodes of the network. In an our experiment, the system designed could process about 520kg/hour.

  • The assessment of machined surface is difficult because the freeform surface must be evaluated by surface fairness as well as dimensional accuracy. In this study, the machined freeform surface is modeled by interpolating the data measured on the machine tool into the mathematical continuous surface, and then the surface model is improved with the parameterization to minimize surface fairness. The accuracy reliability of the measured data is confirmed through compensation of volumetric errors of the machine tool and of probing errors. Non-uniform B-spline surface interpolation method is adopted to guarantee the continuity of surface model. Surface fairness is evaluated with the consideration of normal curvature on the interpolated surface. The validity and usefulness of the proposed method is examined through computer simulation and experiment on the machine tool.

  • The machining Parts must be Produced within the specification of drawing and those will be able to meet faction and efficiency. At that time, it is very important not only precision machine and machining technique but also the measurement technique. So, the improvement of measurement technique is to be joined together at once with improvement of machining technique. Finally, the quality and value of the parts are decided by precision measurement. This paper aims to study on the measurement uncertainty when the machined parts are inspected with 3-dimensional coordinate measuring machine. The objectives remove an error of measurement and remove a quality of mass products.

원심바렐연마기공에 있어서 품질향상 대책 (Quality Improvement in Centrifugal Barrel Finishing Machine)

  • In centrifugal barrel finishing, it is easy to establish the optimum working conditions for different workpieces. As they are adjusted in trial and error practically, production efficiency and quality are some- times low In the present paper, firstly, installation of the barrel finishing machine, finishing purpose and working conditions have been analyzed in order to eliminate the defects of the finished surface. Secondly, on the basis of this result, quantity of the water and selection of the media and the compound, etc. have been investigated. As a result, production efficiency and quality have been improved under the specified optimum working conditions. In addition, durability of the media and the compound has been tested experimentally. As a result, it was found that the expected life of the media is about 85 hrs and that of the compound is about 5 hrs. Besides high quality control has been achieved by newly proposed inspection at regular intervals.

A Bayesian Model-based Clustering with Dissimilarities

  • A Bayesian model-based clustering method is proposed for clustering objects on the basis of dissimilarites. This combines two basic ideas. The first is that tile objects have latent positions in a Euclidean space, and that the observed dissimilarities are measurements of the Euclidean distances with error. The second idea is that the latent positions are generated from a mixture of multivariate normal distributions, each one corresponding to a cluster. We estimate the resulting model in a Bayesian way using Markov chain Monte Carlo. The method carries out multidimensional scaling and model-based clustering simultaneously, and yields good object configurations and good clustering results with reasonable measures of clustering uncertainties. In the examples we studied, the clustering results based on low-dimensional configurations were almost as good as those based on high-dimensional ones. Thus tile method can be used as a tool for dimension reduction when clustering high-dimensional objects, which may be useful especially for visual inspection of clusters. We also propose a Bayesian criterion for choosing the dimension of the object configuration and the number of clusters simultaneously. This is easy to compute and works reasonably well in simulations and real examples.

주기적 외란을 수반하는 시스템의 적응 신경망 회로 기법에 의한 오차 제거 (Error elimination for systems with periodic disturbances using adaptive neural-network technique)

  • A control structure is introduced for the purpose of rejecting periodic (or repetitive) disturbances on a tracking system. The objective of the proposed structure is to drive the output of the system to the reference input that will result in perfect following without any changing the inner configuration of the system. The structure includes an adaptation block which learns the dynamics of the periodic disturbance and forces the interferences, caused by disturbances, on the output of the system to be reduced. Since the control structure acquires the dynamics of the disturbance by on-line adaptation, it is possible to generate control signals that reject any slowly varying time-periodic disturbance provided that its amplitude is bounded. The artificial neural network is adopted as the adaptation block. The adaptation is done at an on-line process. For this , the real-time recurrent learning (RTRL) algoritnm is applied to the training of the artificial neural network.

  • Accurate acquisition of surface geometries such as machined surfaces, biological surfaces, and deformed parts have been very important technique in scientific study and engineering, especially for system design, manufacturing and inspection. Two-camera method keeps accuracy more than double than mechanical method. In this paper, a new method is studied to acquire 3D geometric data of the small object such as a die in stone model. When the devices, cameras, laser beam and object are in a perfect plane, the calculation is measured by position error 0.025[mm] within. But this paper shows that arbitrarily positioned system can also be used to obtain 3D data. Also, this paper present a method to generate coping surface data with which CAM system can do for milling work.

  • The power system automation, especially the substation automation is a major issue. so it has been widely studied each country in the world. Since the substation system includes lots of measuring devices. a lot of data and system information are transmitted to operators. The measured values usually have the error that results from the communication process, and it can degrade the reliability of estimated values. So. the detection and correction of measured values at a substation are important factors for substation automation. In this paper, we study the detection and col of measured values at the domestic 154kV/2 distribution substation of double bus structure study will be useful for expected economic dispatch measuring device's inspection and corr management by SCADA system operation, substation automation.
