A New Face Tracking Algorithm Using Convex-hull and Hausdorff Distance (Convex hull과 Robust Hausdorff Distance를 이용한 실시간 얼굴 트래킹)

  • This paper describes a system for tracking a face in a input video sequence using facial convex hull based facial segmentation and a robust hausdorff distance. The algorithm adapts YCbCr color model for classifying face region by [l]. Then, we obtain an initial face model with preprocessing and convex hull. For tracking, a Robust Hausdorff distance is computed and the best possible displacement is selected. Finally, the previous face model is updated using the displacement t. It is robust to some noises and outliers. We provide an example to illustrate the proposed tracking algorithm in video sequences obtained from CCD camera.

  • This paper presents the duplex controller operated as master slave for Self Excited Static Type excitation system and the results of operation for duplex digital excitation system.   • In pattern recognition, the conventional neural networks contain a large number of weights and require considerable training times and preprocessor to classify a transformed patterns. In this paper, we propose a constrained pattern recognition method which is insensitive to rotation of input pattern by various degrees and does not need any preprocessing. Because these neural networks can not be trained by the conventional training algorithm such as error back propagation, a novel training algorithm is suggested. As such a system is useful in problem related to calssify overse side and reverse side of 500 won coin. As an illustrative example, identification problem of overse and reverse side of 500 won coin is shown.

  • Accident diagnosis is one of the complex tasks for nuclear power plant (NPP) operators. In abnormal or emergency situations, the diagnostic activity of the NPP states is burdensome though necessary. Numerous computer-based methods and operator support systems have been suggested to address this problem. Among them, the recurrent neural network (RNN) has performed well at analyzing time series data. This study proposes an algorithm for accident diagnosis using long short-term memory (LSTM), which is a kind of RNN, which improves the limitation for time reflection. The algorithm consists of preprocessing, the LSTM network, and postprocessing. In the LSTM-based algorithm, preprocessed input variables are calculated to output the accident diagnosis results. The outputs are also postprocessed using softmax to determine the ranking of accident diagnosis results with probabilities. This algorithm was trained using a compact nuclear simulator for several accidents: a loss of coolant accident, a steam generator tube rupture, and a main steam line break. The trained algorithm was also tested to demonstrate the feasibility of diagnosing NPP accidents.

  • We propose an algorithm for the automatic measurement of concentricity and roundness using image processing technique. The proposed measuring method consists of the preprocessing process and the measuring process. In the measuring process, two types of concentricity measurement algorithm and one type of roundness measurement algorithm are proposed. We could measure the concentricity and roundness using input image from CCD camera, without using special measurement equipment. From the experimental results, we could find that the required measurement accuracy specification is sufficiently satisfied using our proposed method.

  • This paper proposes a building recognition algorithm using watershed image segmentation algorithm and integrated region matching (IRM). To recognize a building, a preprocessing algorithm which is using Gaussian filter to remove noise and using canny edge extraction algorithm to extract edges is applied to input building image. First, images are segmented by watershed algorithm. Next, a region adjacency graph (RAG) based on the information of segmented regions is created. And then similar and small regions are merged. Second, a color distribution feature of each region is extracted. Finally, similar building images are obtained and ranked. The building recognition algorithm was evaluated by experiment. It is verified that the result from the proposed method is superior to color histogram matching based results.

  • General stereo vision system shows things in 3D, using two visions of left and right side. When the viewpoints of left/right sides are not in accord with each other, it gives fatigue to human eyes and prevents them from having the 3-D feeling. Also, it would be difficult to track mobile objects that are not in the middle of a screen. Therefore, the object tracking function of stereo vision system is to control tracking objects to always be in the middle of a screen while controlling convergence angles of mobile objects in the input image of the left/right cameras. In this paper, object-tracker in stereo vision system is presented which would track mobile objects by using block matching algorithm of preprocessing and JTC.

  • The human chromosome analysis is widely used to diagnose genetic disease and various congenital anomalies. Many researches on automated chromosome karyotype analysis have been carried out, some of which produced commercial systems. However, there still remains much room for improving the accuracy of chromosome classification. In this paper, We proposed an optimal pattern classifier by neural network to improve the accuracy of chromosome classification. The proposed pattern classifier was built up of two-step multi-layer neural network(TMANN). We reconstructed chromosome image to improve the chromosome classification accuracy and extracted four morphological features parameters such as centromeric index (C.I.), relative length ratio(R.L.), relative area ratio(R.A.) and chromosome length(C.L.). These Parameters employed as input in neural network by preprocessing twenty human chromosome images. The experiment results shown that the chromosome classification error was reduced much more than that of the other classification methods.

  • In this paper, rule-based stereo algorithm is explored to obtain three dimensional information of an object. In the preprocessing of the stereo matching, feature points of stereo images must be less sensitive to noise and well linked. For this purpose, a new feature points detection algorithm is developed. For performing the stereo matching which is most important process of the stereo algorithm, the feature representation of feature points is first described. The feature representation is then used for a rule-based stereo algorithm to determine the correspondence between the input stereo images. Finally, the three dimensional information of the object is determined from the correspondence of the feature points of right and left images.

  • This paper describes a system for tracking multiple faces in an input video sequence using facial convex hull based facial segmentation and robust hausdorff distance. The algorithm adapts skin color reference map in YCbCr color space and hair color reference map in RGB color space for classifying face region. Then, we obtain an initial face model with preprocessing and convex hull. For tracking, this algorithm computes displacement of the point set between frames using a robust hausdorff distance and the best possible displacement is selected. Finally, the initial face model is updated using the displacement. We provide an example to illustrate the proposed tracking algorithm, which efficiently tracks rotating and zooming faces as well as existing multiple faces in video sequences obtained from CCD camera.
