  • A new neural networks and learning algorithm are proposed in order to measure nonlinear heights of complexed road environments in realtime without pre-information. This new neural networks is Error Self Recurrent Neural Networks(ESRN), The structure of it is similar to recurrent neural networks: a delayed output as the input and a delayed error between the output of plant and neural networks as a bias input. In addition, we compute the desired value of hidden layer by an optimal method instead of transfering desired values by back-propagation and each weights are updated by RLS(Recursive Least Square). Consequently. this neural networks are not sensitive to initial weights and a learning rate, and have a faster convergence rate than conventional neural networks. We can estimate nonlinear models in realtime by ESRN and learning algorithm and control nonlinear models. To show the performance of this one. we control 7 degree of freedom full car model with several control method. From this simulation. this estimation and controller were proved to be effective to the measurements of nonlinear road environment systems.

  • The multi-resonant converter(MRC) minimizes a parasitic oscillation by using the resonant tank circuit absorbed parasitic reactances existing in a converter circuit. So it si possible that the converter operated at a high frequency has a high efficiency because the losses are reduced. Such a MHz high frequency applications provide a high power density [W/inch3] of the converter. But the resonant voltage stress across a switch of the resonant tank circuit is 4~5 times a input voltage. This h호 voltage stress increases the conduction loss because of on-resistance of a MOSFET with higher rating. Thus, in this paper we proposed the alternated multi-resonant converter (AT MRC) differ from the clamp mode multi-resonant converter and applicated it to the forward MRC. The AT forward MRC can reduce the voltage stress to 2~3 times a input voltage by using two series input capacitor. The control circuit is simple because tow resonant switches are driven directly by the output pulse of the voltage controled oscillator. This circuit type is verified through the experimental converter with 48V input voltage, 5V/50W output voltage/power and PSpice simulation. the measured maximum voltage stress is 170V of 2.9 times the input voltage and the maximum efficiency of 81.66% is measured.

  • Multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) system has attracted the 4th generation wireless network as one of core technique for performance enrichment. In this system rate control is a challenging problem and another problem is optimization. Proper scheduling can resolve these problems by deciding which set of user and at which rate the users send their data. This paper proposes a new multi-parameter based scheduling (MPS) for downlink multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system under space-time block coding (STBC) transmissions. Goal of this MPS scheme is to offer improved link level performance in terms of a low average bit error rate (BER), high packet delivery ratio (PDR) with improved resource utilization and service fairness among the user. This scheme allows the set of users to send data based on their channel quality and their demand rates. Simulation compares the MPS performance with other scheduling scheme such as fair scheduling (FS), normalized priority scheduling (NPS) and threshold based fair scheduling (TFS). The results obtained prove that MPS has significant improvement in average BER performance with improved resource utilization and fairness as compared to the other scheduling scheme.

  • Digital input and output modules are widely used to connect digital sensors and actuators to automation systems. Digital I/O modules provide flexible connectivity extension to numerous sensors and actuators and protect systems from high voltages and currents by isolation. Components in digital I/O modules are inevitably affected by operating and environmental conditions, such as high voltage, high current, high temperature, and temperature cycling. Because digital I/O modules transfer signals or isolate the systems from unexpected voltage and current transients, their failures may result in signal transmission failures and damages to sensitive circuitry leading to system malfunction and system shutdown. In this study, the lifetime of optocouplers, one of the critical components in digital I/O modules, was predicted using Bayesian tracking approaches. Accelerated degradation tests were conducted for collecting the critical performance parameter of optocouplers, current transfer ratio (CTR), during their lifetime. Bayesian tracking approaches, including extended Kalman filter and particle filter, were applied to predict the failure. The performance of each prognostic algorithm was then compared using accuracy and robustness-based performance metrics.

  • In this paper, we propose an obstacle avoidance technique in trajectory tracking of nonholonomic wheeled mobile robots. Input-output linearized backstepping controller is used in trajectory tracking, and repulsive type control input for obstacle avoidance is added to it. The added input is generated by fuzzy logic. And we do not add the two inputs directly but combine them via fuzzy logic, which determines the ratings of each input. Some simulations are performed to show that with the proposed algorithm, the mobile robot can track its reference trajectory even if there are multiple obstacles on the trajectory of robot.

  • While the matrix converter has many advantages that include bi-directional power flow, a size reduction, a long lifetime, and sinusoidal input currents, it is vulnerable to the input voltage disturbances, because it directly exchanges the input voltage to the output voltage. So, in this paper, a critical evaluation of the effect of various abnormal voltage conditions like unbalanced power supply, balanced non-sinusoidal power supply, input voltage sags and short time blackout of power supply on matrix converter fed induction motor drives is presented. The operation under various abnormal conditions has been analyzed. For this, a 230V, 250VA three phase to three phase matrix converter (MC) fed induction motor drive prototype is implemented using DSP based controller and tests have been carried out to evaluate and improve the stability of system under typical abnormal conditions. Digital storage oscilloscope & power quality analyzer are used for experimental observations.

  • New simple control method of power factor correcting(PFC) boost convertor without instantaneous measurement of input current is proposed. Using the averaged model, the power factor correction scheme is presented. With the measurements of input voltage and output voltage, the control signal is generated to make the shape of the line current same as the input voltage. The validity of the controller is verified through the computer simulations.

  • On the controller switching time, even though on-line/off-line controller outputs are the same, a problem which deteriorates the performance of bumpless transfer can happen in case that any discrepancy between the two controller inputs is transferred directly to the controller output. In this paper, we analyze the cause of that phenomenon in existing research results and propose a new method which improves that problem. In order to solve this problem, the off-line controller is augmented to an anti-windup structure and an improved bumpless transfer method is derived by using the changed input of the off-line controller instead of the plant input. We exemplify the performance of the proposed method by comparing with the performance of the existing method via numerical examples.

  • In this paper, a new high-powerfactor control method for boost-type rectifier is proposed, which removes the necessity of input current sensing. This method generates a sinewave duty template only from the line voltage waveform and rectifier output, and reduces reactive power remarkably utilizing three compensation coefficients which are determined through experiments. These compensations make the input current to be in phase with the input voltage all over the load range. A prototype boost-type rectifier is designed and experimental results are presented.
