  • Poly(anthranilic acid) was synthesized by rapid mixing method using 5-sulphosalicylic acid as a dopant. The synthesized polymer was characterized by various techniques like FT-IR, UV-Visible, and X-ray diffraction $etc.$, The FT-IR studies reveal that the 5-sulphosalicylic acid is well doped within the polymer. The morphological property was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopic technique. The electrochemical properties of the polymer were studied by cyclic voltammetric method. The synthesized polymer was used to modify glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and the modified electrode was found to exhibit electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of uric acid (UA).

  • Here, we introduce various type of inorganic nanostructure synthesized with functional nanoparticles and silica. From two decades ago, functional inorganic nanoparticles have been synthesized and highlighted, now we moved to next level of wet-chemical synthesis. By integrating functional nanoparticles with silica, we were able to synthesize multi-functional nanostructure, which expand the applications of nanoparticles to catalyst, drug carrier, sensors. In this context, silica has been spotlighted due to its versatility. Silica has highly biocompatible, relatively transparent and stable under harsh conditions. Thus it can be used as good supporter to synthesize complex multi-functional nanostructure when mixed with other functional nanoparticles. A various shape of complex nanostructures have been synthesized including core-shell type, yolk-shell type and janus type etc. In this paper, we have described the purposes of synthesizing silica noncomplex and various case studies for biomedical applications and self-assembly.

  • Metabolic activity of inorganic nitrogenous compounds affects not only microbial growth but also metabolite production in fermentation technology. We have worked on the enzymes participating in ammonia assimulation of some fermentation bacteria. This paper summarizes the results on glutamine synthetase and its application in practical field. Glutamine synthetase (L-glutamate:ammonia ligase, EC. 6.3.1.2) catalyzes the formation of glutamine from glutamate and ammonia at the expense of cleavage of ATP and inorganic phosphate. The enzyme plays a dual role in nitrogen metabolism in bacteria; it is a key enzyme not only in the biosynthesis of various compounds through glutamine but also in the regulation of synthesis of some enzymes involved in the metabolism of nitrogenous compounds. The detailed works with the Eschericia coli and other enterobacterial enzymes revealed that glutamine synthetase is controlled by the following complex of mechanisms: (a) feedback inhibition by end products, (b) repression and derepression of enzyme synthesis, (c) modulation of enzyme activity in response to divalent cation and (d) covalent modification of enzyme protein by adenylylation and its cascade control. Comparative studies have also been made on the enzymes from other organisms.

  • Recently perovskite materials with much cheaper cost and marvellous optoelectronic properties have been studied for next generation LED display devices overseas. Technology development trends of inorganic $CsPbX_3$(X=halogen) based LEDs (PeLEDs) with assumed high stability were investigated on literature worldwide. It was found that syntheses methods of these nanocrystals (NCs, mainly quantum dots, QDs) made great progress. A new room temperature synthesis method showed outstanding PL (photoluminescence) properties such as high quantum yield (QY), narrow emission width, storage stability comparable with, or often exceeding those of conventional hot injection method and CdSe@ZnS type inorganic colloidal QDs. PeLEDs with shell layers might be more promising, indicating urgent real research start of this solution processing technology for small businesses in Korea.

  • This paper details the synthesis of α-FeOOH (goethite) rods through the reaction of iron (III) nitrate with KOH as a strong base, and shape control of the particles for use as a yellow inorganic pigment. The crystal phase of the α-FeOOH crystal with OH content according to the addition of KOH and the change in morphology were investigated. The optical properties varied with the aspect ratios, and the yellowness increased with increasing aspect ratio. However, the enhanced chromaticity characteristics reversed beyond a certain critical aspect ratio. Thus, the relative optimal aspect ratio of the α-FeOOH rods as a vivid yellow inorganic pigment was derived. The morphology and coloration of the prepared rods were investigated in detail using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-vis spectroscopy, and CIE Lab color parameter measurements.

  • Orange-yellow phosphor has been synthesized by solid-state method for inorganic EL devices. Zinc sulfide is used as host material for the phosphor and the phosphor consists of copper and manganese as activators. The dependence of the photoluminescence (PL) and electroluminescence(EL) properties on the copper and manganese concentrations has been investigated.
