신제품개발전략의 유형과 성과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between New Product Development Strategies and New Product Outcomes)

  • The objectives of this research paper are to identify the types of the firm's new product development strategy and their characteristics about business strategy, to examine the effect of each type on new product outcomes, and to explore the contingency variable influencing the relationship between these types and new product outcomes. The result of the research are summarized as follows : First, in terms of both the resource allocation for product innovativeness and technology acquisition method, this study suggests 9 types of the firm's new product development strategies- Type 1 (pursuing low innovative products/relying on external technology), Type 2 (pursuing low innovative products oriented/relying on internal technology), Type 3 (pursuing low innovative products/relying on mixed technology), Type 4 (pursuing high innovative products/relying on internal technology), Type 6(pursuing high innovative products /relying on mixed technology), Type 7 (balancing low and high innovative products/relying on external technology), Type 8 (balancing low and high innovative products/relying on internal technology), Type 9 (balancing low and high innovative products/relying on mixed technology). Second, these 9 types are deeply associated with the firm's business strategic variables such as product differentiation and market differentiation, and exhibit different level of both technical and commercial performance of new products. Finally, the effects of these types on new product outcomes are different according to industrial environment and firms' characteristics with respect to size and technological capability.

  • 다원화되는 사회에서 추구하는 혁신제품의 의미자체가 변모하고 있다. 예전에는 개발의 필요에 의하여 다양한 개발전략을 통해 제품출시 이후 판로를 개척해나가는 방법을 펼쳐나갔다. 허나 최근에는 혁신제품의 출시과정부터 다르게 운영되고 있고, 예전과는 다른 방향으로 전략을 펼치고 있다. 이에 예전과 현재의 혁신제품 성공전략 사례들을 분석하여 향후 펼쳐질 혁신 제품의 성공판로를 예측해보고자 한다. 본 연구의 연구방법 및 결과는 다음과 같다. - 예전 성공한 혁신제품의 출시 이후 어떠한 전략들을 펼쳤는지 사례조사 및 분석을 한다. - 최근 성공한 혁신제품의 판로 및 출시동향들은 어떠한지 사례조사 및 분석을 한다. 시대흐름에 따른 혁신제품의 운영체계를 살펴본 결과, 향후 혁신제품을 출시하는 스타트업기업들을 해외크라우드 펀딩을 통해 선인정 후양산 시스템을 통해 제품양산을 할 것으로 예상된다. 또한 우리나라도 머지않아 스타트업과 대기업의 제휴를 위한 시스템 마련이 될 것으로 예측해본다. 급격한 변화를 겪으며 탄생하는 혁신제품의 출시관련 운영흐름을 정확히 인지한다면 향후 이를 준비하는 스타트업기업들에게 성공으로 진입할 수 있는 빠른 경로를 알려 줄 수 있으리라 생각된다.

주요국의 혁신적 의료기기 관리제도에 대한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Innovative Medical Device Management Systems in Major Countries)

  • As new types of medical devices are emerging through convergence with advanced technology, innovative technologies are becoming hot issues in health policy because of their disruptiveness. This study analyzed the innovative medical device management systems in the US, China and Korea. Innovative medical devices have been defined differently depending on the country's management system, but in common, they are defined as products that do not exist or have dramatically improved performance compare to existing products by applying innovative technologies. Innovative medical devices have been supported by regulatory authorities during product development and approval processes. While the US and China have more than 300 products designated as innovative medical devices with diverse functions, application fields, and manufacturing countries considering the initial situation of the implementation for the system, Korea has only 16 products, mainly radiology and diagnostic devices and made in Korea only as innovative medical device. In addition, Korea shows the highest market approval rate of innovative medical devices compare to the US and China, and it is necessary to prepare the approval process in consideration of product diversity.

브랜드 확립을 위한 상점공간 디자인 분석 연구 - 혁신적 제품과 체험 공간을 중심으로 - (A Study on Store Design Strategy for Establishing Brand Identity - Focus on innovative products and spaces for experiences -)

  • Retail space itself could be one of the marketing strategies, through creating space, and communicating brand identity. Especially for innovative products, such as mobile technology products, store is not just to sell products but to provide experiences so that users can fudge usefulness of products and reduce uncertainties to adopt the products. The purpose of this study is to investigate how environmental features and physical artifacts contribute to promote experiences of innovative products in stores and how physical environment help to establish brand identity. For this study, site visits, observation, and literature review were conducted. For case studies, three retail spaces (Apple, Iriver, Sony) and one service space(TTL) were selected. Compared to the service space, three retail spaces have more transparent and open store front design characteristics. For the experiences of shoppers, products displayed in a radial shape, round shape, column shape, and around peripherals of the stores. A service oriented space, TTL zone is differentiated from three retail spaces in terms of layout, store front design, and experience areas. Compared to the traditional stores selling innovative products, the case stores showed more warm atmosphere using various shape, wood materials, lighting fixtures and furniture.

혁신 제품에 대한 거부와 수용에 관한 연구: 일반 휴대전화 사용자의 스마트폰 사용의도를 중심으로 (A study for rejection and acceptance for Information technology innovative products: Based on Smart phone usage intention of General mobile phone users)

  • 본 연구에서는 정보기술 혁신 제품이 출시되었을 때 소비자가 수용하는 과정에서 혁신 제품의 유용성 기대와 혁신제품에대한거부의요인에의해사용의도가형성된다는관점에서혁신제품의수용과정을연구하였다. 휴대전화사용자들 중 스마트폰을 사용하지 않는 소비자들을 대상으로 실증연구를 하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 정보기술 혁신제품에 대한 소비자의 유용성 기대는 사용의도에 정적(+)으로 영향을 미치고, 혁신 제품에 대한 거부감은 부적(-)으로 영향을 미치며, 유용성 기대는 거부감에 부적(-)으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 소비자의 혁신 제품에 대한 유용성 기대에 정적(+)으로 영향을 미치는 요인으로 사회적 요인이 있었고, 기존 제품에 대한 만족은 유용성 기대에 부적(-)으로 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 소비자의 혁신 제품 거부에 영향을 미치는 요인들로 소비자의 기존 제품에 대한 만족과 소요되는 노력 예상이 있었다. 이러한 연구결과들에 근거하여, 소비자가 정보기술혁신 제품에 대해 유용성을 기대하더라도 거부감을 가지고 있다면 해당 제품을 사용할 의도를 갖지 않기 때문에 이에 대한 전략이 필요하다.

Effects of Difference Age and Information Searching Level on Attitudes toward Innovative Product

  • Innovation is no longer the purview of high-tech industries; it is blossoming in the home appliances and cosmetics sectors. However, consumers' anxiety about the risk of new products prevents them from reaping the benefits of innovation. This anxiety is driven by customer's lack of prior information on new products. This study examines how difference age between the chronological age of consumers and their cognitive age affects consumers' willingness to search for information on innovative products, leading to reduced new-product anxiety. According to a survey of participants who actually bought an innovative product, we found that participants searched for more information when they perceived themselves to be younger than their chronological age (a high difference age). Where participants did not proactively search for information (due to a low difference age), they could be encouraged to do this through marketing campaigns. Together, these findings expand our understanding of how consumers' difference age can be leveraged in digital marketing to enable companies to more strategically reach consumers when planning or launching innovative products.

경외감이 혁신적 제품 선호도에 미치는 영향: 긍정적 기술준비도의 매개된 조절효과 (The Impact of Awe on Preference for Innovative Products: The Mediated Moderating Effect of Positive Technology Readiness)

  • 경외감은 새로운 경험에 대한 개방성을 확장하고, 새로운 지식 획득을 통해 인지적 세계관을 확장하려는 욕구와 연관된 정서이다. 본 연구에서는 경외감이 광고 맥락에서 소비자에게 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 서울 소재 대학 학부생 118명을 대상으로 2(감정: 경외감/통제) × 2(제품 유형: 혁신/비혁신) 설계의 실험을 진행하였다. 그 결과, 경외감 유발 광고는 비혁신적 제품이나 경외심을 유발하지 않은 경우보다 혁신적인 제품에 대한 제품 선호도와 긍정적 기술준비도를 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다. 매개된 조절분석 결과, 긍정적 기술준비도가 경외감 유발과 제품 선호도 사이의 관계를 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉, 혁신적 제품일 경우 경외감 유발 광고일 때 긍정적 기술준비도가 증가하게 되고, 이렇게 증가한 긍정적 기술준비도가 결과적으로 혁신적 제품에 대한 선호도를 높였다. 본 연구 결과는 경외감이 혁신적 제품에 대한 소비자의 긍정적 태도를 높이는 역할을 한다는 것을 밝힘으로써 경외감의 긍정적 효과가 있음을 주장한 기존 문헌을 뒷받침한다. 이를 통해 소비자의 혁신적 제품에 대한 긍정적 태도에 경외감 정서 유발이 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 혁신적 제품이나 서비스를 제공하는 기업의 마케팅 활동에 유의미한 시사점을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

Forecasting the Diffusion of Innovative Products Using the Bass Model at the Takeoff Stage: A Review of Literature from Subsistence Markets

  • A considerable amount of research has been directed at subsistence markets in the recent past with the belief that these markets can be tapped profitably by marketers. Consequently, such markets have seen the launch of a number of innovative products. However, marketers of such forecasts need timely and accurate forecasts regarding the diffusion of their products. The Bass model has been widely used in marketing management to forecast diffusion of innovative products. Given the idiosyncrasies of subsistence markets, such forecasting requires an understanding of effective estimation techniques of the Bass model and their use in subsistence markets. This article reviews the literature to achieve this objective and find out gaps in research. A finding is that there is a lack of timely estimates of Bass model parameters for marketers to act on. Consequently, this article sets a research agenda that calls for timely forecasts at the takeoff stage using appropriate estimation techniques for the Bass model in the context of subsistence markets.
