The aim of this paper is to analyse the impacts of R&D cooperation and obstacles to technological innovation on the innovation failure of the Korean manufacturing firms. Two hierarchical regression models including interaction variables are employed for the analysis. Some interesting findings are: first, almost all the obstacles have positive and significant effects on the failure. Second, R&D cooperation positively or negatively moderates the impact of obstacles to technological innovation on the innovation failure, although R&D cooperation itself is not directly related to the failure. Third, the interaction effects between the cooperation and the obstacles influence the failure in various manners. This study is expected to help manufacturing firms which are under unfavourable environments to formulate their cooperation strategies successfully based on what they learn from the failure.

본 연구는 국내 제약 산업을 대상으로 실패경험이 기업의 혁신활동에 미치는 영향을 연구개발, 지식탐색 측면에서 탐구하였다. 기존 연구들은 실패의 원인을 규명하거나, 감소요건에 대한 고찰위주로 연구하였으나, 실패가 기업의 혁신활동에 미치는 영향을 분석한 연구는 드물다. 본 연구는 국내 제약 산업을 대상으로 10년간의 연구기간을 설정하여 실패가 혁신활동에 미치는 영향과 이러한 혁신활동이 급진적 혁신에 미치는 영향을 종단 분석하였다. 연구결과를 요약하자면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기업의 실패경험은 탐험적 혁신활동을 촉진시키며, 이는 재무적 여유자본의 크기에 따라 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기업의 실패경험은 지식탐색 측면에서 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 기업의 탐험적 혁신활동과 지식탐색범위의 상호작용은 급진적 혁신성과와 정(+)의 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 실패를 부정적 견해로 바라보던 기존의 연구와는 다르게 학습과 혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 검증하여 경험적 증거를 제시하였다는 점에서 의미가 있으며, 이러한 연구결과를 기반으로 향후 연구의 발전방향을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to find an appropriate policy for local government innovation step by step. In order to accomplish this purpose, we considered the characteristics and situation of Gumi city. Specifically, we analyzed the win-win strategy of the department for the largest local administration innovation. Finally, we found that the chief executive's leadership and other strategies such as the adjustment of the innovation propulsion system are key factors. Also, Managing the resistance to change appeared during the process of local administrative innovation is important . The failure of the policy for local government innovation is caused by the failure to manage the resistance Thus for government innovation to succeed, correct informal ion provision, comprehensive participation of public officials and effect ive management of resistance is necessary.

The objective of the study is to verify the discriminatory power of technology innovation in predicting Early Stage Ventures' success or failure. To accomplish this objective, we test early stage ventures'(Firm's period is below 3 years)technology innovation and performance. The result of the study is expected to be useful in loan evaluation, investment decision, internal management decision making and business improvement. The results of study is as follows. First, Early Stage Ventures' technology innovation power is composed of 4 major indexes(technology, marketability, manufacturing infra and economic feasibility). Second, we find that thirty-seven minor indexes are significant ex-ante variable which are discriminating between firms' success and failure in Early Stage Ventures. Also thirty-seven minor indexes explain 57.2% of the total variance. This explainable power of these indexes is similar to that of the existing 58 index elements. Finally, we find that the most important technology innovation power of Early Stage Ventures' is economic feasibility.

TRISO-coated particle fuel is widely used in high temperature gas cooled reactors and other advanced reactors. The performance of coated fuel particle is one of the fundamental bases of reactor safety. The failure probability of coated fuel particle should be evaluated and determined through suitable fuel performance models and methods during normal and accident condition. In order to better facilitate the design of coated particle fuel, a new TRISO fuel performance code named FRAT (Fission product Release Analysis Tool) was developed. FRAT is designed to calculate internal gas pressure, mechanical stress and failure probability of a coated fuel particle. In this paper, FRAT was introduced and benchmarked against IAEA CRP-6 benchmark cases for coated particle failure analysis. FRAT's results agree well with benchmark values, showing the correctness and satisfactory applicability. This work helps to provide a foundation for the credible application of FRAT.

We wanted to show the different group dynamics of factors for success and failure cases for technology commercialization in small technology-based firms. Existing studies are based on product level, project level, division level or firm level. We deal with technology level, and at small-technology-based firms. This is a longitudinal case study based on 8 cases from Korea. Our study on technology level is a first trial in success and failure studies unlike all existing studies. As a first step, we introduced new categories and factors such as technology attributes and CEO reflecting data, and especially a new concept of launch readiness level. Finally, we adopted correspondence analysis to show the group dynamics. The results are as follows; Technology factors are the most important factors. Second, resource-based factors are more critical in failure cases than success cases and technology factors are more critical to success.

The purpose of this study is to contribute reference material that provides insight into innovative process management that increases R&D output in commercializing new products. A model of a process from research to commercialization with the cumulative profit and loss curve is put forward and hypotheses related to success and failure are developed at the stages up to product launch. Seventeen large projects that have resulted in successful product launches have been examined from the initial research stage to commercialization. Prefect duration, standardized cumulative R&D expenditures and research resource concentration are analyzed in terms of statistical method and patterns in cumulative profit and loss curves after product sales, as well as the reasons for and other aspects of success/failure are investigated and analyzed. Consequently, valuable information on future management tasks has been obtained such as: (1) project duration differs depending on market sectors, product types and presence/absence of materials research (2) cumulative profit and loss curves can be categorized into four patterns (3) reasons for failure can be divided into technological and market problem categories and (4) these factors have an impact on product sales.

국내 무선인터넷서비스 산업은 지속적인 외형적인 성장에도 불구하고 실질적으로 활성화 단계에 이르지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 기대에 미치지 못하게 혁신성과의 확산이 제약된 지금의 국내 무선인터넷서비스 산업을 "구조적 문제점으로 인한 시스템 실패" 로 보고 이러한 현상이 일어나는 메커니즘을 공급측면에 초점을 두고 규명하였다. 산업혁신시스템 관점에서 국내 무선인터넷서비스 산업을 분석한 결과 상호작용의 실패, 제도의 실패, 역량의 실패 등 세 가지 유형이 나타났으며 각 실패 유형은 독립적인 것이 아니라 상호연계 되어 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 국내무선인터넷서비스 산업의 성공을 위해서는 실효성 제고를 위한 현 제도의 개선과 함께 상대적으로 보정이 약한 콘텐츠제공사업자 역량의 실패를 보정할 수 있는 정책이 요구된다. 본 연구는 무선인터넷서비스 산업 활성화뿐만 아니라 새로운 산업을 위한 혁신시스템 개발에 정책적 시사점을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

지난날 우리기업들은 수많은 경영혁신 기법들을 도입하여 추진해 왔지만 그것들은 기대를 충족시키지 못하고 관심에서 멀어져가 버린 경우가 많다. 경영혁신 도입 실패는 많은 경우, 기법 자체의 문제라기보다는 그것을 실행하는 기업의 문제라고 보아야 할 것이다. 주요한 실패 원인의 하나는 경영혁신이 기업의 전략과 정렬되지 못했다는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 경영혁신 기법들을 경쟁전략의 틀에 맞추어 분석, 분류함으로써 전략과 경영혁신기법의 통합모델을 제시한다.
