This study performs a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of the inner flow of a multihole injector nozzle by using ANSYS CFX 13.0. Based on the obtained results, a design of experiment (DOE) was performed and applied to investigate the effects of injector nozzle design parameters on cavitation. To analyze the design sensitivity and signal-to-noise ratio (S/N ratio), the hole diameter, hole length, hole angle, and K-factor of the nozzle hole were selected as design parameters, and the effect of these parameters was investigated at 16 experimental points. Consequently, it was found that the effect of the K-factor on the cavitation and inner flow of the injector nozzle is the greatest. Thus, the selection of a suitable K-factor is important in nozzle design considering cavitation flow.
In order to ensure the structural dynamic stability of moving liquid-storage containers, the flow motion of interior liquid should be appropriately suppressed by means of mechanical devices such as the disc-type elastic baffle. In practice, the design of a suitable baffle requires a priori the parametric dynamic characteristics of storage containers, with respect to the design parameters of baffle, such as the installation location and inner-hole size, the baffle number, and so on. In this paper, we intend to investigate the parametric effect of the baffle parameters on the transient dynamic behavior of a cylindrical fuel-storage tank in an abrupt vertical acceleration motion. For this goal, we employ the ALE (arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) kinematic description method incorporated with the finite element method.
An experimental study is carried out to study two-phase vertically upward hydraulic transport of solid particles by water in a vertical and inclined (0${\sim}$60 degree) concentric annulus with rotation of the inner cylinder. Rheology of particulate suspensions in shear-thinning fluids is of importance in many applications such as particle removal from surfaces, transport of proppants in fractured reservoir and cleaning of drilling holes, and so on. Annular fluid velocities varied from 0.2 m/s to 1.5 m/s for the actual drilling operational condition. Macroscopic behavior of solid particles, averaged flow rate, and particle rising velocity are observed. Main parameters considered in this study were radius ratio, inner-pipe rotary speed, fluid flow regime, and particle injection rate. For both water and CMC solutions, the higher the concentration of the solid particles is, the larger the pressure gradients become

This paper describes the machinability of the sintered carbide and tool-die steel(STD-11) by electric discharge drilling with various tubular electrodes which have multi-holes. Various types of electrode which have different diameters and materials are used with the application of continuous direct current and axial electrode feed. Inner part of electrodes are inserted with smaller tubes or Y-channel or bar. In ED-Drilling, the dielectric flushed down the interior of the rotating tube electrode, in order to remove machining debris from the hole. As result of experiments, the bigger the diameter of the electrode is, the lower the material removal rate is. Machinability of copper electrode is higher than that of brass. In machining of sintered carbide, to use oil is better than distilled water as dielectric.
In the general accretion disk model theory, the accretion disk surrounding an astronomical object comprises fluid rings obeying Keplerian motion. However, we should consider relativistic and rotational effects as we close in toward the center of accretion disk surrounding spinning compact massive objects such as a black hole or a neutron star. In this study, we explore the geometry of the inner portion of the accretion disk in the context of Mukhopadhyay's pseudo-Newtonian potential approximation for the full general relativity theory. We found that the shape of the accretion disk "puffs up" or becomes thicker and the luminosity of the disk could exceed the Eddington luminosity near the surface of the compact spinning black hole.
The HANARO, multi-purpose research reactor, 30 MWth open-tank-in- pool type, is under normal operation since it reached the initial critical in February 1995. The HANARO is planning to produce a fission moly-99 of radio isotopes, a mother nuclide of Tc-99m, a medical isotope and is under developing a target handling tool for loading and unloading it in a circular flow tube (OR-5). A guide tube is extended from the reactor core to the top of the reactor chimney for easily un/loading a target under the reactor normal operation. But active coolant through the core can be quickly raised up to the top of the chimney through the guide tube by jet flow. This paper is described an analytical analysis to calculate the hole size of a orifice inserted in the circular irradiation hole and to study the flow characteristics through the guide tube under reactor normal operation and loading the target. As results, the results show that the hole size of orifice was 31 mm of the inner diameter to suppress the guide tube jet flow and the coolant safely cooled the target of fission moly after inserting the orifice to the flow tube.
In this study, the effect of cone angle of seven-hole probe on the accuracy of measured flow angle and velocity has been investigated. The seven-hole probe consisted of seven 1mm OD stainless inner tubes and one 3mm ID stainless tube. Six cone angles of $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $75^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $105^{\circ}$ and $120^{\circ}$ were tested. Calibrations of the seven-hole probes were conducted within ${\pm}60^{\circ}$ range with the interval of $5^{\circ}$. Analysis results show that the effect on the cone angle was not significant on the accuracy of the measured flow angle, pressure, and velocity. However, the data reduction method had more effect on the measurement accuracy.

The electrical properties of a back drilled via-hole (BDH) without the open-stub and the plated through via-hole (PTH) with the open-stub, which is called the conventional structure, in a high-count multi~layered (HCML) printed circuit board (PCB) were investigated for a high-speed digital system, and a selected inner layer to transmit a high-speed signal was farthest away from the side to mount the component. Within 10 GHz of the broadband frequency, a design of experiment (DOE) methodology was carried out with three cause factors of each via-hole structure, which were the distance between the via-holes, the dimensions of drilling pad and the anti-pad in the ground plane, and then the relation between cause and result factors which were the maximum return loss, the half-power frequency, and the minimum insertion loss was analyzed. Subsequently, the empirical formulae resulting in a macro model were extracted and compared with the experiment results. Even, out of the cause range, the calculated results obtained from the macro model can be also matched with the measured results within 5 % of the error.
An experimental investigation is carried out to study 2-phase vertically upward hydraulic transport of solid particles by water and non-Newtonian fluids in a slim hole concentric annulus with rotation of the inner cylinder. Rheology of particulate suspensions in viscoelastic fluids is of importance in many applications such as particle removal from surfaces, transport of proppants in fractured reservoir and cleaning of drilling holes, etc. In this study a clear acrylic pipe was used in order to observe the movement of solid particles. Annular fluid velocities varied from 0.2 m/s to 3.0 m/s. Pressure drops and average flow rate and particle rising velocity are measured. For both water and 0.2% CMC solutions, the higher the concentration of the solid particles is, the larger the pressure gradients become.
