디스플레이용 외장패널의 가스사출공정 개발 (Development of a Gas Assisted Injection Molding Process for Exterior Display Panels)

  • Gas Assisted Injection Molding is a relatively new low-pressure injection molding technique that provides benefits such as reduced part warpage, excellent surface quality without shrink marks, greater design flexibility, etc. In the gas assisted injection molding process, the injected pressurized nitrogen gas flows through designed gas channels and forms hollow sections within the part. However, due to the characteristics of the gas, the design of the gas channels which are the paths for the injected gas is important in order to avoid defects such as gas blowout, fingering, etc. Therefore, in this study, the gas channel design for gas assisted injection molding of exterior display panels was conducted by examining the results of three CAE analyses. The designed gas channel was verified by conducting tryouts using a 450 ton injection molding machine with 3-stage pressure controlled gas kit. In addition, the hollow shapes which were formed by the gas with the installed gas channels were examined by examining the cross sections of the prototypes that were produced. As a result, it was found that exterior display panels can be produced without any defect by applying the gas assisted injection molding technique.

  • This paper deals with an CAE analysis and optimization of injection molding for a mobile phone cover. Two design goals are established in the optimization; one is to switch over the feed system from cold runner to hot runner for the purpose of reducing material costs, and the other is to minimize the warpage in order to improve product quality. By the full-factorial experiments for design parameters, we showed that the cold runner design could be changed to the hot runner design by replacing the current resin with a new resin of higher fluidity. In addition, we could significantly reduce the warpage of the cover product under the hot runner system by optimizing packing pressure and packing time.

CAE 성형해석 데이터의 사출금형 설계 활용 방법에 관한 연구 (A study on the injection mold design application method of CAE mold analysis data)

  • Cell phone injection is characterized by its small size and thinness. In addition, the product has a short cycle time, requiring a very short production schedule. To produce more accurate products faster, data from experience in producing similar products is required. In this study, two mobile phone models are presented. In this study, the quality problems caused by molding analysis and actual injection molding were analyzed and made into a database. As a result, it was considered that all the defects in the molding analysis do not affect the product in some cases, rather than appear as defects in the actual product. All defects shown in the molding analysis can be made into a database, and based on this data, it will be possible to obtain an effect that can predict more accurately whether it will cause problems after injection.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 곡률반경의 연속에 의하여 살 두께 차가 큰 사출성형품이 불균일한 수축에 의한 변형 발생에 대하여 연구하였다. SAN 및 PMMA 재질의 Jar에 대한 균일냉각구조와 최적성형조건을 CAE 해석에서 구하여 금형설계에 적용하고자 사출성형의 중요인자인 사출압력, 수지온도, 금형온도, 냉각조건 등을 Moldflow 프로그램에서 사출압력, 수지온도, 냉각속도 등에 의한 변형 및 불량현상을 분석하였고 이들을 극소화시킬 수 있는 냉각구조와 사이클 시간을 단축시킬 수 있는 사출성형조건을 제시하였다.

  • 게이트 위치는 제품 품질 및 생산성 등에 큰 영향을 미치기 때문에 사출성형에 있어서 게이트 위치를 결정하는 것은 대단히 중요하며 이를 위하여 사출성형 CAE가 적용되고 있다. 사출성형 해석의 증가와 3차원 유한요소의 사용은 더 많은 계산 시간을 필요로 하게 되면서, 컴퓨터 자원을 적게 사용하면서도 빠른 시간 내에 게이트 위치 최적화를 수행하는 것은 중요한 이슈가 되었다. 본 논문에서는 유동 균형과 웰드라인을 고려하기 위하여 유동 거리에 기반한 최적화 기법을 제시하였다. 그리고 원판 형상의 모델에 적용하여 웰드라인이 응력집중이 예상되는 슬릿홀을 피하면서도 유동 균형을 유지하는 결과를 도출하였다.

사출성형 시 성형제품치수에 미치는 패킹변수의 영향 (Effects of Packing Parameter on Plastic Article Dimensions in the Plastic Injection Molding)

  • The molding process can be divided into five separate steps: plastification, injection, holding, cooling, and finally ejection. In the plastic injection molding, the effect factor such as mold temperature, injection speed, packing pressure and inhomogeneous cooling under packing process affects both the article dimension and physical characteristics. Especially, the packing pressure is the most critical factor to affect molded articles quality among the packing parameters. In this paper, the CAE simulation considering the molding condition is performed to predict the faulty cause which appears in the packing process between cavities of injection molding machine. From the results of CAE simulation, the packing phenomena according to the product form and the gate position was investigated to improve the article quality and minimize the various molding defects. The effect of packing pressure and gate number on the injection molding was discussed.

마이크로 광학 패턴이 있는 차량용 후육 라이트 가이드의 CAE 및 사출성형에 관한 기초연구 (A study on CAE and injection molding of automotive thick-walled light guide with micro-optical patterns)

  • In this study, basic research was conducted on manufacturing technology of thick-walled light guide a component that controls the light source of automobile lamps. As a preliminary study for manufacturing the final injection molded parts, a model for analyzing the influence of micro patterns on light guides is presented. The optical characteristics of the light guide were analyzed according to the change of the curvature radius of the micro-optical pattern, and the injection molding characteristics of the light guide according to the change of injection molding conditions were analytically evaluated. It was confirmed that the luminance uniformity improves as the R value decreases for changes in the micro-pattern R value, but it was confirmed that there are technical limitations in actual injection mold core processing and high-replication injection molding. Injection molding analysis showed that cooling channel design is very important compared to general injection molding due to thick-wall characteristics and thickness variation. It was also confirmed that the cooling channel has a great influence on the cycle time and birefringence result due to residual stress. As a result of analyzing the influence of filling time, holding condition, and cooling on shrinkage, it was found that the cooling water temperature has a significant effect on the shrinkage of ultra-fine light guide parts, and the holding condition also has a significant effect.

사출성형 CAE 프로그램을 이용한 코어 휨의 예측 (Prediction of Core Shift using Injection Molding CAE program)

  • The Core-Shift is often generated on injection mold which have thin and long core. And Core-Shift brings out problems for thickness variation and product ejecting process. In this study, analysis of Core-Shift was performed according to change of materials of core(steel P-20, Be-Cu) and various polymers(PP, PC) by using MoldFolw MPI 6.1 which is commercial injection molding analysis program. As the results of analysis, the magnitude of Core-Shift was increased as being use polymer had lower fluidity and lower rigidity core. In the future, we will study the relationship between amount of Core-Shift and ejecting force.

A Study on Moldability by Using Fuzzy Logic Based Neural Network(FNN)

  • In order to predict the moldability of an injection molded part, a simulation of filling is needed. Short shot is one of the most frequent troubles encountered during injection molding process. The adjustment of process conditions is the most economic way to troubleshoot the problematic short shot in cost and time since the mold doesn't need to be modified at all. But it is difficult to adjust the process conditions appropriately in no times since it requires an empirical knowledge of injection molding. In this paper, the intelligent CAE system synergistically combines fuzzy-neural network(FNN) for heuristic knowledge with CAE programs for analytical knowledge. To evaluate the intelligent algorithms, a cellular phone flip has been chosen as a finite element model and filling analyses have been performed with a commercial CAE software. As the results, the intelligent CAE system drastically reduces the troubleshooting time of short shot in comparison with the expert's conventional way which is similar to the golden section search algorithm.
