Although assessing outdoor environment and green space in terms of sustainability and environmental performance is perceived as an important issue, most existing green building certification systems are more focused on buildings and indoor environment. Recently, the Sustainable Site Initiatives (SITES) has been developed by American Society of Landscape Architecture in order to evaluate sustainability of site development and outdoor environment. Separate from LEED, the SITES are increasingly receiving attentions as a reliable certification system in the United States. As a preliminary study to develop the items of outdoor environmental assessment, the present study is purposed to analyze the assessment items, grading system and applicability of SITES for better understanding on the system. Also it was compared to existing green building certification criteria, including G-SEED, LEED-NC, and LEED-ND in order to investigate similarities and discrepancies. The results would provide insights and basic data to improve assessment items for outdoor environment of G-SEED.

This article examines the nature of geopolitics and its impact on the international political economy of Eurasia/Silk Road. The research questions are exploratory and aim at revealing the differing geopolitical perceptions of the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the former Soviet Central Asian countries-Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan-within the context of an emerging "New Silk Road". Consequently, the main goal of this article is to contribute to a better understanding of what factors constrain and shape Silk Road initiatives in Eurasia. To this end, the article focuses on geopolitics and regional integration theories through a consideration of the Silk Road initiatives of a number of Eurasian countries.

The serine/threonine kinase Akt has been intensely studied for its role in growth factor-mediated cell survival for the past 5 years. On the other hand, the ongoing research effort has recently uncovered novel regulatory mechanisms and downstream effectors of Akt that demonstrate the involvement of Akt in other cellular functions such as cell cycle progression, angiogenesis, and cancer cell invasion/metastasis. Furthermore, recent studies using whole model organisms suggest additional roles for Akt in important diseases such as aging and diabetes. The following review addresses these recent advances in the understanding of Akt function.

In mammals, cap-dependent translation of mRNAs is initiated by two distinct mechanisms: cap-binding complex (CBC; a heterodimer of CBP80 and 20)-dependent translation (CT) and eIF4E-dependent translation (ET). Both translation initiation mechanisms share common features in driving cap- dependent translation; nevertheless, they can be distinguished from each other based on their molecular features and biological roles. CT is largely associated with mRNA surveillance such as nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), whereas ET is predominantly involved in the bulk of protein synthesis. However, several recent studies have demonstrated that CT and ET have similar roles in protein synthesis and mRNA surveillance. In a subset of mRNAs, CT preferentially drives the cap-dependent translation, as ET does, and ET is responsible for mRNA surveillance, as CT does. In this review, we summarize and compare the molecular features of CT and ET with a focus on the emerging roles of CT in translation.

$\alpha$$_1$-Antitrypsin is a member of the serine protease inhibitor (serpin) family that share a common tertiary structure. The reactive site loop (RSL) of serpins is exposed at one end of the molecule for protease binding. Upon cleavage by a target protease, the RSL is inserted into the major $\beta$-sheet A, which is a necessary process for formation of a tight inhibitory complex.(omitted)

The native strain of serpins (serine protease inhibitors) has been recognized as a mechanism of biological regulation. Indeed, some stabilizing single residue mutations of human $\alpha$$_1$-antitrypsin, a prototype serpin, relieved local strain and caused the loss of inhibitory activity. The native strain of $\alpha$$_1$-antitrypsin is distributed throughout the whole molecule, but the strain that regulates the function directly is highly localized in the regions that appear to be mobilized during complex formation with a target protease.(omitted)

This study addresses the question of how to design the research system for national R&D programs that aim to promote creative innovation. This paper attempts to analyze the case of Creative Research Initiatives(CRI), a new national R&D program recently launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Korea. CRI is a strategic program intended to shift the national R&D paradigm from imitative innovation to creative innovation. The key features of the research system of the program include: a research-centered system, long-term research funding, the sunset approach, a dynamic and flexible research organization, and a centralized research system. This paper suggests theoretical rational of these key features based on the literature review on creative innovation. Based on an analysis of the results of implementing the CRI in 1997, this paper also examines how the research system design is reflected and embodied in the program implementation process. Finally, policy implications and future research directions are also discussed.

This study aims to explore and identify factors of respondent's on the definition of 'smart community facilities', their usage and satisfaction in Malaysia. Study carried out in four sites which were Kota Belud, Kemaman, Lundu and Putrajaya. Data was collected through qualitative method where interviews was carried out with several smart community members in answering factors that drives the usage/participation, satisfaction and continuance intention from using the 'smart community facilities'. Interpretation from the qualitative approach reveals that community thinks infrastructure, content and digital services will help to generate and build up 'smart community'. This will give the benefit for the whole community as well as improve individual efficiency, lifestyles and well-being. Findings demonstrated that the advance of Internet will enhance people usage on being 'smart' and efficient and it should be further improved with better infrastructures, systematic development with sophisticated digital technology services, facilities and structured content, and also safety-security measures in place.

This research outlines the motivations behind the fan-lead marketing and promotional endeavours undertaken by musical group BTS's fan community, also known as ARMY. In highlighting the reciprocity in intimacy between the group and their fans, I argue that ARMY's desire to elevate BTS is embedded within structures of affect, despite the financial nature of the benefits the group and their company may reap. These fan-lead initiatives represent efforts towards a common goal, where success, whether it comes in the form of money or not, is a gift of gratitude and a show of mutual understanding from fans to BTS. Based on data from 22 interviews with fans, this research explores the motivations behind fan-lead marketing by looking at the affective properties of music consumption, the parasocial relationship, fan community dynamics, and the purchase of intimacy. Within these contexts, the promotion surrounding BTS's music, as organized by the fans, mimics profit-oriented behaviours but is ultimately a gesture towards the exchange of intimacy between fans and artist.

The Chinese government portrays the One Belt One Road Initiative (BRI) and South Korea President Park Geun-hae's Eurasia Initiative as a win-win opportunity which will hurt nobody's interests, but some South Korean commentators have interpreted it as much more than just a trade and development deal: they focus on the geopolitical implications and the possibility that the balance of power in Asia will be disturbed. South Korea depends upon its maritime-oriented Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOC) in focusing on its alliance with the US to deter North Korean threats and explore its export-based economic growth and development, and yet cannot afford to be left out of these initiatives which could transform the economic and logistical linkage between South Korea and Europe. Given its negative reception by the some pundits, however, South Korea should be more precautious for expressing only full-fledged supports for the BRI and Eurasia Initiative. Opponents of these two initiatives doubt that its putative benefits can be realized, at least in the short term, arguing that creating the necessary rail interconnections may be too costly.
