정보봉사의 속성과 철학적 기반 (Philosophical Foundations of Information Services and its Attributes)

  • 이 논문은 정보봉사의 개념과 속성을 밝히고, 이를 토대로 정보봉사의 철학적 기반을 세우는데 목적을 두었다. 정보봉사의 개념과 속성은 용어의 어원과 정의 및 내용, 역사적, 사회적 관점에서 그 근거를 밝혔다. 이를 통해 정보봉사라는 용어가 정보봉사의 본질과 속성 그리고 활동내용에 가장 적합한 명칭임을 논리적으로 증명함으로써 정보봉사의 이론을 체계화하였다. 정보봉사의 철학은 용어의 어원, 정의, 기능, 그리고 역사적, 사회적 관점 등에서 일관되게 흐르고 있는 정신인 교육, 정보, 상담 지도라는 세 요소와 봉사라는 인본주의적 요소를 중심으로 그 기초를 세우는 작업을 시도하였다.

  • Web services (WS) present a new promising software technology, which provides application-to-application interaction. They are built on the top of existing web protocol and based on open XML standards. Web services are described using WSDL, and the UDDI is a integration directory provide registry of Web Services descriptions. WSDL provides information of Web Services but it is getting more and more important to know more than those provided by WSDL. From WSDL we can not get the information like usage of WS, performance of WS, complexity of WS, usability of WS with other web service. In this paper, we proposed a new method for Web Services so called Public Web Services Analyzer (PWSA). This technique is based on analyzing various public UDDI registries in order to get various kinds of statistics of web services. Those statistics will be used by both web services developers and consumers for finding them suitable services for their needs. PWSA guarantees that it can provide enough information to find right web services for both Web Services Consumers and Web Service Developers.

  • Demand for new information services is ever increasing as information technology advances in an unprecedented pace. Capabilities of information technology to overcome the time and space limitations enables efficient storage and processing of a large volume of data shared by many users in geographically dispersed areas. As the users ask for more useful information services, it is necessary to develop information services tp meet the needs of users. Enhancing information services is also necessary to cope actively with the pressures to open the information service is also necessary to cope actively with the pressures to open the information and telecommunications market as the level of Korean information services industry is still in its infancy. Value Added Network(VAN) services have a tremendous growth potential and its economic and social impact would be great as the information society matures. This study suggests a direction for the development of value added and new-media services based on the survey of individual and business users of information services.

  • In order to provide effective information services in a province, we should first select vendors who enable to meet end-users' needs and develop information services for the sake of end-users. Cases, policies, technological and legislative issues in information services have been researched well. But no research has been done on potential information services in the future and their classification. In this study, based on literature survey, future information services are gathered, described, and classified with respect to the needs of end-users, and finally a framework for the classification of information services is developed. This framework can be used as a criterion to select, with a priority, information services to be provided in province through the information super highway. The framework will contribute to accomplishing the effective use of information resources in the province, and eventually balancing the level of information utilization between provinces.

Clustering Social Media Services and Messengers by Functionality

  • The objective of this research is to analyze which functions make up web-based as well as mobile social media services and messengers. Services are clustered by their functionality. A total of 640 individual functions were identified, while investigating altogether 44 selected services in their web and mobile versions. Applying content analysis, functions were assigned to the services. The services were ranked by the number of implemented functions, and the functions were ranked by their occurrence in the services. Cluster analysis was applied to classify the services according to their functionality. Facebook and VKontakte were found to be the ones with the most functions; the most frequently implemented functions are support, profile, and account-related. Cluster analysis revealed six classes for mobile and seven classes for web applications. There is a noteworthy difference regarding the functionality scope between web and mobile applications of the same services. An example for this is Mendeley with 38 functions in the mobile and 91 functions in the web version. This is the first empirical attempt at clustering social media services based on their functionality.

  • Up to recently, information service have emphasized mainly on efficiencies of information collection, storage, process. But, now, many people take interest in criteria and evaluation on quality of information itself and its services because of growth of electronic materials and development of telecommunication. Especially, since the greater part of infomation is made gradually digital format, quality of information service regards as of great importance. This study attempts to investigate the quality problem in information services and its a n.0, pplication. Also, to su n.0, pport high quality, it is needed criteria of information services to evaluate and measure. To understand quality of information services, This articles deal with concept of quality on information related sector, quality management, the reason of importance of information quality, quality work of information services. There is little method to measure and evaluate quality of internet services. So it is necessary to study on internet quality, user's selection on its quality, and development on high quality site.

  • Information and information services are recently recognized as a commodity and libraries and information centers are also considered as a company. Under this circumstance, libraries and information centers encounter the problems how they can effectively achieve the objectives of service institutions and objectives of resource management as companies. Pricing policy for information services must be something to satisfy these two very different objectives. This paper discusses the following issues to develop pricing model for information services, 1) the needs of pricing for information services, 2) the major elements impacting to pricing of information services including the objectives of pricing, cost and demand of information services, and information value, 3) the pros and cons of pricing method using concepts of average cost, price differentiation, and marginal cost, respectively.

  • 이 연구는 지역정보서비스의 용어에 대한 근본적인 접근을 통해 서비스에 대한 이해를 돕고, 지역정보서비스의 현 실상을 조사한 결과를 토대로 서비스의 의미에 부합되게 제공되는지를 충분히 검토한 뒤, 의미에 적합한 지역정보서비스 제공 방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 삼았다. 이러한 목적을 위해 이 연구에서는 (1) 지역정보서비스 관련 용어의 추이를 살펴보면서 지역정보서비스가 도서관서비스에서 가지는 의미를 분명하게 제시하고, (2) 국내 공공도서관의 지역정보서비스의 제공 실태를 조사한 뒤, (3) 지역정보서비스가 서비스 의미에 부합하게 제공되기 위해 우리 학계와 도서관계가 고민해야 할 과제와 전략에 대해서 논의하였다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 문헌연구와 사례조사를 실시하였고, 사례조사는 국내 12개 지역대표도서관의 홈페이지를 대상으로 분석하였다.
