This study was designed to propose library privacy guidelines to be applicable in any library without distinguishing library types. Individual libraries can refine, modify, and use them to fit their situation, using the guidelines as a base. The library privacy protection guidelines developed in this study are composed of purposes, definitions, scope of privacy, law and policy, general information, the library's job performance on the handling of personal information, and library subcontractors. The development objectives and utilization direction of the library privacy guidelines developed in this study are meant to provide a guide for change according to the amended provision of library "Privacy Act" implementation, optimization of library Privacy Directive, a reflection of the relevant laws and regulations, and the standardization-oriented library privacy guidelines.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) aim to find the significant genetic variants for common complex disease. However, genotype data has privacy information such as disease status and identity, which make data sharing and research difficult. Differential privacy is widely used in the privacy protection of data sharing. The current differential privacy approach in GWAS pays no attention to raw data but to statistical data, and doesn't achieve equilibrium between utility and privacy, so that data sharing is hindered and it hampers the development of genomics. To share data more securely, we propose a differential privacy preserving approach of data sharing for GWAS, and achieve the equilibrium between privacy and data utility. Firstly, a reasonable disturbance interval for the genotype is calculated based on the expected utility. Secondly, based on the interval, we get the Nash equilibrium point between utility and privacy. Finally, based on the equilibrium point, the original genotype matrix is perturbed with differential privacy, and the corresponding random genotype matrix is obtained. We theoretically and experimentally show that the method satisfies expected privacy protection and utility. This method provides engineering guidance for protecting GWAS data privacy.
The essential characteristic of ubiquitous is context-awareness, and that means ubiquitous computing can automatically process the data that change according to space and time, without users' intervention. However, in circumstance of context awareness, since location information is able to be collected without users' clear approval, users cannot control their location information completely. These problems can cause privacy issue when users access their location information. Therefore, it is important to construct the location information system, which decides to release the information considering privacy under the condition such as location, users' situation, and people who demand information. Therefore, in order to intercept an outflow information and provide securely location-based information, this paper suggests a new system based CS-RBAC with the existing LBS, which responds sensitively as customer's situation. Moreover, it accommodates a merit of PCP reflecting user's preference constructively. Also, through privacy weight, it makes information not only decide to providing information, but endow 'grade'. By this method, users' data can be protected safely with foundation of 'Role' in context-aware circumstance.
This study investigates responses to privacy concerns by analyzing the psychological and behavioral characteristics related to the disposition toward invoices of courier service users. To this end, we develop a theoretical framework by combining stimulus response theory, communication privacy management theory, the theory of reasoned action, and the theory of planned behavior. Based on the theoretical framework, we analyze the relationships between social influence, privacy propensity, privacy control, privacy risk, privacy concern, invoice disposition intention, and invoice disposition behavior in the context of courier services. To test our hypotheses, we survey courier service users in the U.S. and Korea. Using a structural equation model, we test the relationships among these various factors for the courier service users of the two countries. Results have distinct implications for the psychological and behavioral characteristics concerning the disposal of courier invoices and enable understanding of the characteristics of courier service customers of the two countries.
As Internet has become a popular media for sharing information, users create and share tremendous volume of information including large amount of personal information in cyberspace. Sharing private information online can enhance strength of social relationship but it could also bring negative consequences like information privacy invasion. Although many companies and governments address the importance of information privacy online, there are countless cases of crimes and hackings relating personal information online world wide. Since there are some researches investigating the role of governments and organizations on online privacy domain but there is little research regarding users' privacy protection behaviors. This study investigates relationship between Internet users' information privacy protection behavior and environmental factors. Especially, this study focuses on users' behaviors regarding information privacy protection technology adoption. According to our research results, users' online privacy protective behaviors positively affected by governmental regulations expressed as an information privacy protection law. In addition, if user is allowed to use anonymity when he or she uses online services, they have more tendencies to adopt privacy protection technologies. The detailed research findings and contribution are discussed as well.

Many studies have tried to explain the privacy paradox but reported conflicting results; Some of them found connection between privacy concerns and information disclosure, while others did not. This study examines the role of interaction privacy controls (mainly friend lists and privacy settings) as a moderating variable that has the potential to affect the relationship in the SNS context. The reason for this is that most users use interactive privacy controls to create their own social environment before conducting SNS activities, so the relationship between privacy concerns and information disclosure may vary depending on the degree of use of interactive privacy controls. The study collected data using survey method, analyzed the moderating effect of use of interaction privacy controls using hierarchical multiple regression analysis, and as a result, found that effect. Therefore, the degree of use of interactive privacy controls may be an important contingent variable that needs to be considered in a study examining the privacy paradox in SNS context.
The objective of this study was to discuss child privacy issues at Web sites targeting children, Specifically, the study examined l)types of information required for join the membership, 2)whether privacy policies at Web sites for children abide by privacy guideline, and 3)specific examples of recommendable privacy policy and problematic privacy policy from Web sites, Total of 305 Web sites targeting children were used for content analysis, Selected Web sites included recommended sites by Korea Council of Children's Organizations and food business Web sites, The results showed that more than 70% of Web sites required private information when children join the membership. Most of these Web sites provided mailing service for children. Generally, Web sites showed problems in parents' approval procedures. Also, privacy policies at Web sites frequently omitted purpose specification principle and the security safeguard principle. Regulating online service provides and marketers targeting children would be necessary for protecting child privacy. Further, education program targeting parents and children could help them make right choices to protect children's online privacy.
Privacy-protective behavior can be classified into passive behavior and active behavior. Passive behavior includes refusal, misrepresentation, and removal, while word-of-mouth, complaint, and seeking for help belong to active behavior. Internet users in different countries may take different types of privacy-protective behavior because of cultural and social differences. This study analyzes the differences in Internet users' privacy-protective behavior between Korea and China. Korean Internet users take refusal, complaint, and seeking to protect their privacy information, while misrepresentation is not an option for Korean Internet users. Chinese Internet users take refusal, complaint, seeking, and misrepresentation to protect their privacy information. In Korea, passive behavior (refusal) is chosen more often than active behavior (complaint and seeking for help), while in China active behavior(complaint and seeking for help) is preferred to passive behavior (refusal and misrepresentation). The differences of privacy-protective behavior in the two countries may provide some implications for online companies, if they want to avoid the business risk due to privacy concerns and to take appropriate steps to deal with privacy-protective behavior by Internet users.
Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook lead to potential security risks, which consequently raise public concerns about privacy. However, most people rarely make active efforts to protect their personal data, even though they have shown increasing concerns about privacy. Therefore, this study examines the factors that determine social media users' behavior of using privacy settings and testifies the existence of privacy paradox in such a context. In addition, it investigates the mediating effects of implementation intentions on the relationship between intentions and behaviors. In the study, we collected data through questionnaires, and the respondents were undergraduate and graduate students in South Korea. After a pilot test (n = 92) and a set of face-to-face interviews, 266 usable responses were retrieved for data analysis finally. The results confirmed the existence of the privacy paradox regarding the use of social media privacy settings. And the implication intention did positively mediate the relationship between intention and behavior in the context of social media privacy settings. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first in the information privacy literature to introduce the notion of implementation intention which is a much more powerful explanation and prediction of actual behavior than the (behavioral) intention.
With emergence of smart technologies(e.g., smartphones), Location-Based Services(LBS) are expected to provide more enhanced values utilizing consumers' personal information than other smart services. However, in contrast to existing smartphone applications, LBS could raised severe consumer's privacy concerns because of rapidly changing information sensitive to consumers. In this context, the purpose of this study is to explore relationships among privacy concerns reduction, trust and intention to use LBS by examining the effect of precedence factors(social presence, reputation, mobile literacy, ability of information control) of privacy concern reduction. In addition, the study investigates the role of personal innovation as a moderating effect between privacy concern reduction and intention to use LBS. The results showed that the proposed precedence factors of privacy concerns with a exception of Mobile Literacy had a positive impact on privacy concerns reduction that then positively affected trust and intention to use LBS. In addition, the relationship between trust and intention to use LBS was significantly supported. Finally, personal innovation as a moderating effect significantly influenced the relationship between privacy concern reduction and intention to use LBS. This study is expected to be a reference for a subsequent study about the spread of LBS application of smartphone. Also, the finding of this study is meaningful for helping service direction to firms providing LBS.
