  • A SBR/Image ray-tracing technique using triangular ray tubes to predict the effects of walls. rooms. floors, and staircase is considered. Suggested technique is very efficient to estimate the path loss in three-dimensional buildings including the staircase. The model to predict the path loss through walls and floors in a multifloored building is presented. Measurements are made for three corridors having the staircase at 850 MHz, Measured data shows a close agreement with a simulated data.

  • Under most system assumptions, closed form solutions of performance measures for ATM switches with input queueing are not available. In this paper, we present expressions and bounds for the derivatives of cell loss probabilities with respect to the arrival rate evaluated at a zero arrival rate. These bounds are used to give an approximation by Taylor expansion, thereby providing an economical way to estimate cell loss probabilities in light traffic.

  • A cavity perturbation technique is employed to determine the dielectric property of thin samples. Substrates in microwave integrated circuits are fabricated in sheet form and are expected to have a dielectric constant less than 10 and a dielectric loss better than 10**-3. This research aimed to determine both dielectric constant and dielectric loss with good accuracy. The tecynique makes use of thin circular disk samples placed in a right circular cylindrical cavity. The accuracy of measurements is within \ulcorner% for dielectric constnat and 3x10**-4 for dielectric loss.

  • This paper proposes a priority-based duplicate burst transmission mechanism in an optical burst switching network to enhance the probability of successful reception of bursts. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by NS2 simulations. Our results show that the burst loss rate is improved especially under light traffic loads.

  • This paper deals with the problem of estimating a reliability function for the Rayleigh distribution. Using the priors about a reliabity of real interest some Bayes estimators and Bayes credible sets are proposed and studied under squared error loss and Harris loss.

  • A Bayes estimator of the scale parameter in an exponential distribution will be considered by a LINEX error, then the risk of the Bayes estimator using a LINEX loss will be compared with that of a Bayes estimator using a square error.

  • In this paper, we consider a decision-theoretic oriented, objective Bayesian inference for the difference between two normal means with known variances. We derive the Bayesian reference criterion as well as the intrinsic estimator and the credible region which correspond to the intrinsic discrepancy loss and the reference prior. We show the similarity between derived two-sample results and the results for the one-sample case in Bernardo(1999).

  • Queueing models are good models for fragments of communication systems and networks, so their investigation is interesting for theory and applications. Theses queues may play an important role for the validation of different decomposition algorithms designed for investigating more general queueing networks. So, in this paper we illustrate that the batch size distribution affects the loss probability, which is the main performance measure of a finite buffer queues.

  • In this paper, we consider a decision-theoretic oriented, objective Bayesian inference for the ratio of two normal variances. Specifically we derive the Bayesian reference criterion as well as the intrinsic estimator and the credible region which correspond to the intrinsic discrepancy loss and the reference prior. We illustrate our results using real data analysis and simulation study.
