In this paper, we present a new approach for speaker diarization. First, we use the prosodic information calculated on the original speech to resynthesize the new speech data utilizing the spectrum modeling technique. The resynthesized data is modeled with sinusoids based on pitch, vibration amplitude, and phase bias. Then, we use the resynthesized speech data to extract cepstral features and integrate them with the cepstral features from original speech for speaker diarization. At last, we show how the two streams of cepstral features can be combined to improve the robustness of speaker diarization. Experiments carried out on the standardized datasets (the US National Institute of Standards and Technology Rich Transcription 04-S multiple distant microphone conditions) show a significant improvement in diarization error rate compared to the system based on only the feature stream from original speech.

The purpose of this study is to develope education for sustainable development of understanding programme. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, this programme is intended to enhance an university student's basic understanding, core skills and viewpoint of sustainable development. Secondly, the programme contains 10 modules, organised in four thematic sections. Each module is made up of two or three activities that are supposed to encourage adult learners in their mature understanding of sustainable development. Thirdly, there are three key teaching-learning strategies such as a case study, story telling and project study. These teaching-learning methods play a key role in the learning process. In conclusion, it is expected to indicate the goal and the value of the sustainable development clearly, and to provide the related information and knowledge constantly and systematically in the learning for sustainable development. Thus, it would be possible to enhance learner's awareness and attitudes towards sustainable development.

The purpose of this study was to examine Korean preservice science teachers' understanding of the nature of science (NOS). Thirty-one Korean preservice teachers were given an open-ended questionnaire about their understanding of NOS. The Korean preservice teachers' responses were categorized according to pattern and theme. These findings will provide information to aid in the development of curriculum and instruction to improve preservice teachers' understanding of NOS. Compared to in previous studies, Korean preservice teachers demonstrated various philosophical stances that have been suggested by philosophers of science. In addition, they were more likely to connect science to human endeavors and social needs. These results were interpreted in relation to the influence of the science methods course, secondary science curriculum, and the traditional cultural view.

As the access and the use of internet have been diffused in our daily life. internet addiction has been issued as a social pathological phenomenon. In this context, this study constructs a theoretical foundation on internet addiction based upon the understanding on internet and on addiction as a social phenomenon: examines the background of internet addiction in Korea: analyzes the cases of internet addiction as reported on newspapers; and explores the characteristics and the directions to cope with internet addiction. By so doing. this study aims at enhancing our understanding on internet addiction.

Functional genomics aims at uncovering useful information carried on genome sequences and at using it to understand the mechanisms of biological function. Elucidating the unknown biological functions of new genes based upon the genomics rationales will greatly speed up the extensive understanding of biocatalysis and biodegradation in biological world including microorganisms. DNA microarrays generate a system for the simultaneous measurement of the expression level of thousands of genes in a single hybridization assay. Their data mining (transcriptome) strategy has two categories: differential gene expression and coordinated gene expression. Furthermore, measurement of proteins (proteome) generates information on how the transcribed sequences end up as functional characteristics within the cell, and quantitation of metabolites yields information on how the functional proteins act to produce energy and process substrates (metabolome). Various composite functional genomics databases containing genetic, enzymatic and metabolic information have been developed and will contribute to the understanding of the life blue print and the new discoveries and practices in biocatalysis and biodegradation that could enrich their industrial and environmental applications.

A model is presented in this paper to provide understanding of the supply chain integration and supply chain information practices' impact on the manufacturing industries. The supply chain information practices play a crucial role in sharing information between the members of SC network. Thus, it is important to develop a comprehensive understanding of the differences and similarities among ISI and information management. It will allow firms to systematically evaluate and carefully choose the information strategy. The empirical findings of this research offer essential and interesting insights about what role SCI, supply chain information and Supply chain ISI play in determining Malaysia's financial performance. The theoretical gaps addressed in this study are of significant importance, since a little empirical evidence is available regarding system infrastructure and supply chain information management's effectiveness. This research provides further paths of exploring system infrastructure and information management, thereby defining the manufacturing industries' next step in SCM struggle i.e. modifying total integrated SC principle in other manufacturing firms. The Resource-based theory discovered organizational resources as an essential organizational success ingredient. Therefore, in order to recognize its potential value, internal resources, for instance, information system and management must be fully utilized.

Our limited understanding of real-life music information queries is an impediment to developing music information retrieval (MIR) systems that meet the needs of real users. This study aims to contribute to developing a theorized understanding of how people seek music information by an empirical investigation of real-life queries, in particular, focusing on the accuracy of user-provided information and users' uncertainty expressions. This study found that much of users' information is inaccurate; users made various syntactic and semantic errors in providing this information. Despite these inaccuracies and uncertainties, many queries were successful in eliciting correct answers. A theory from pragmatics is suggested as a partial explanation for the unexpected success of inaccurate queries.

In the rapidly changing science and technology environment, an in-depth understanding of users of STEM information is an essential factor in designing a user-centered information system. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze in-depth the behaviors and needs of users who use STEM information. In this study, the needs of users for STEM information and STEM information sites are dealt with in depth using the FGI qualitative method. In addition, it includes the analysis results of grouping of similar sites according to various aspects of use of STEM information sites. As a result of grouping similar sites based on awareness and level of use,, they were grouped by domestic-international, paid-free, integrated-specific fields. As a result of grouping similar sites according to the purpose of use, they were grouped by domestic and international papers, research reports, and patents. As a result of grouping similar sites according to usage attributes, they were grouped by diversity, reliability, and specialization. As for the positions of similar sites perceived by users, Science Direct and PubMed showed high specialization and high quality, Google Scholar showed integration and popularity, and RISS showed four attributes evenly. Suggestions for information system design are discussed.
