  • Teachers' beliefs about teaching English are reflected in their practices in the classroom. They influence on the students' attitude to English learning. Any teacher training program expects the trainees to change or modify their existing beliefs and attitude through the new ideas and information introduced by the program toward a desired direction. The present study describes a teacher training program for elementary school English teachers and compares the beliefs of the teachers about teaching English before and after the training. The subjects are the elementary school English teachers around Chungnam area who get a special training of 120 hours during January 1997. The investigation of the subjects' beliefs on English teaching is conducted through examining two journals of each subject before and after the training. The journals show the teachers' inner flow of thought, so teacher trainers are expected to get insight on their general instructional considerations and have implications on the future teacher training program through examining these journals. In addition, the journal writing itself gives the teachers opportunity to reflect their practice and rethink about their beliefs, and develop themselves as professional English teachers.

  • This study was aimed at knowing the recognition of teachers' nutrition knowledge and nutrition education at day-care centers in Seong-nam. Teachers were all female, most of whom were in the 20, and their careers were less than 3 years. And $76.2\%$ of the teachers graduated from high school and junior college. The score of the nutrition knowledge was average $14.3\pm2.2$ (out of 20). It shows that they are lack of general information of nutrition. As the teachers had higher education, they scored higher nutrition knowledge levels (p < 0.01). It also says that there was meaningful interrelationship between the nutrition knowledge and the number of children they had (p < 0.05). $93\%$ of the teachers said that nutrition education should be given when children are three years old, at least and most of the teachers thought that nutrition education is necessary and should be taught in a separate course. $50.4\%$ of the teachers thought that nutrition education for early childhood should be taught by a nutritionist, but $35.2\%$ of them thought that the teachers themselves should be in charge of it. About $60\%$ of the teachers thought that 'Cooking Activity for Early Childhood' course should be established and it is desirable that the nutrition education should be in the area of cooking activity for childhood at day-care centers. The teachers thought that dietary habit is the most important subject in nutrition education and they got more information from the internet rather than in the class related to nutrition. • This study investigated the impact of entry level of mathematics subject knowledge on student teachers' mathematics pedagogical content knowledge development and performance in mathematics teaching practice. The sample consisted of 24 mathematics student teachers, 12 of whom passed A-Level mathematics and 12 of whom only passed O-level mathematics. They were all studying in a 4-year bachelor of education (Honours/Primary) programme; they were either majoring or minoring in mathematics. Results showed that student teachers' entry-level mathematics subject knowledge is not related to their mathematics pedagogical content knowledge development or their mathematics teaching performance. These findings may lead society to consider whether student teachers who have passed O-level mathematics are already eligible to be trained as professional primary mathematics teachers. As a consequence, this study raises the issues of how to develop student teachers' mathematics pedagogical content knowledge and whether we need to restructure our bachelor of education (Primary) programmes' curriculum in teacher professionalism.

  • As the importance of technology increases, so too does its use in various areas. In education, technology is often used. However, due to teachers' lack of knowledge about technology, they often remain at the level of simple utilization, without applying it to learning. Thus, there is a growing need for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), which enables teachers to have knowledge about technology and use it appropriately given the content. Although TPACK studies are underway in many subjects, they suffer from the limited functionality of the included technology. To solve this problem, in this study, the range of technology in TPACK was extended to programming, and a TPACK-P model was developed to teach this expanded TPACK to pre-service teachers. To verify the effectiveness of this model, the TPACK-P training program developed during the 15th classes was applied to 19 pre-service teachers. We used Park and Kang (2014) as a tool to measure these teachers' TPACK before and after treatment to observe any changes. The results showed that the TPACK-P education program showed statistically significant improvement in all areas except Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK). Compared with the ICT-based TPACK training program, which was administered to a control group, the TPACK-P training program proved to be more effective in the development of Technological Pedagogical Knowledge(TPK) and TPACK among pre-service teachers.
