A Study on the Web-based Cost-Effective Education System for C Programming

  • We have implemented an interactive multimedia education system for C programming. The system consists of two pars. One is multimedia contents to help students better understand C language syntax, programming style, and program logic and the other is a web-based compilation support system that compiles C programs at the server side which are submitted trough Web by students and returns their execution results to the students' PC. Although there are currently some restrictions that students should replace the inputs functions such as scanf(), getc() and getch() with assignment statements or fscanf(fp, , ), since the system has been implemented using general web technologies and shareware C compiler, the education system could be one solution that education institutions seek to reduce annual immense expenditure of money on C complier.

  • The dynamic nature of the World Wide Web challenges Information Retrieval System to find information relevant and recent. Intelligent agents can complement the power of search engines to deal with this challenge. In this paper, we explain in manner of building Information Retrieval System based on intelligent agent technology. We present a tool called Websearcher. It was performed in Java environment. The object-oriented nature of Java and built-in facilities for multi-thread decreased our implementation effort. A modular software design makes it easy to configure the system for various experiments.

  • This paper describes an adaptive recommendation system that provides real-time personalized trading advice to the investors based on their profiles and trading information environment. A proposed system integrates Stochastic technical analysis and artificial neural network that incorporates an adaptive user modeling. The user model is constructed and updated based on initial user profile and recorded user interactions with the system. The information presented to each individual user is also tailor-made to fit the user's behavior and preference. A system prototype was implemented in JAVA. Experiments used to evaluate the system's performance were done on both human subjects and synthetic users. The results show our proposed system is able to rapidly learn to provide appropriate advice to different types of users.

  • In 21st century, According to development of Information Technology, It is clear that the importance of tourism information is extended increasingly. For this reason, It should be needed to realize a general system which make it possible to enjoy cyber tourism based on knowledge information system to recover a local potential growth power, catch a jumping chance again, and hold a new competitive power. But to discuss a tourism information system, the matters of hard ware, software and information mediating system should be reviewed generally, this research is likely to provide a cyber tourism information system through internet as a way of cyber tours through multimedia technology and stereoscopic image technique using GIS (Geographic Information System) centering on the networking system of tourism information. Constructing $\ulcorner$cyber touristy city$\lrcorner$ on internet, foster a new industry, to go balanced with a present tourism industry and experience a virtual reality, various theme tours create high profit to shrunken tourism industry.

PDFF Controller Design by CDM for Position Control of Traveling-Wave Ultrasonic Motor

  • Ultrasonic motors have many excellent performances. A variety of ultrasonic motors has been developed and used as an actuator in motion control systems. However, this motor has nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve the precise position control system incorporating with the ultrasonic motor. This paper describes a position control scheme for traveling-wave type ultrasonic motor using a pseudo-derivative control with feedforward gains (PDFF) controller designed by the coefficient diagram method (CDM). The PDFF control system satisfies both the tracking and regulation performances, which are the most important for the precise position control system. The CDM is shown to be an efficient and simple method to design the parameters of PDFF controller. The effectiveness of the proposed control system is demonstrated by experiments.

A depth-based Multi-view Super-Resolution Method Using Image Fusion and Blind Deblurring

  • Multi-view super-resolution (MVSR) aims to estimate a high-resolution (HR) image from a set of low-resolution (LR) images that are captured from different viewpoints (typically by different cameras). MVSR is usually applied in camera array imaging. Given that MVSR is an ill-posed problem and is typically computationally costly, we super-resolve multi-view LR images of the original scene via image fusion (IF) and blind deblurring (BD). First, we reformulate the MVSR problem into two easier problems: an IF problem and a BD problem. We further solve the IF problem on the premise of calculating the depth map of the desired image ahead, and then solve the BD problem, in which the optimization problems with respect to the desired image and with respect to the unknown blur are efficiently addressed by the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Our approach bridges the gap between MVSR and BD, taking advantages of existing BD methods to address MVSR. Thus, this approach is appropriate for camera array imaging because the blur kernel is typically unknown in practice. Corresponding experimental results using real and synthetic images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems are essential parts of power system which employ a wide range of computers and communication technologies. The traditional SCADA system is mainly for information exchange in only one company, and the information is provided only to the operator or administrator. But in the deregulated environment, we need much more information, which can be exchanged among different companies. With the rapid development of internet, we can use it to access information easily. This paper proposes web technologies to be applied in power system in order to display some important information through accessing data from database, and to realize the real time control of the substation. The functions of SCADA system will be implemented by a set of Web-based components. The monitoring and control of standard 154[kV] substation model is already realized in the laboratory test. The Web-based SCADA system is able to provide sufficient information and control for pow or system through an efficient and economical way.

Real-time comprehensive image processing system for detecting concrete bridges crack

  • Cracks are an important distress of concrete bridges, and may reduce the life and safety of bridges. However, the traditional manual crack detection means highly depend on the experience of inspectors. Furthermore, it is time-consuming, expensive, and often unsafe when inaccessible position of bridge is to be assessed, such as viaduct pier. To solve this question, the real-time automatic crack detecting system with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) become a choice. This paper designs a new automatic detection system based on real-time comprehensive image processing for bridge crack. It has small size, light weight, low power consumption and can be carried on a small UAV for real-time data acquisition and processing. The real-time comprehensive image processing algorithm used in this detection system combines the advantage of connected domain area, shape extremum, morphology and support vector data description (SVDD). The performance and validity of the proposed algorithm and system are verified. Compared with other detection method, the proposed system can effectively detect cracks with high detection accuracy and high speed. The designed system in this paper is suitable for practical engineering applications.

  • Though a demand for 3-D CG (Three-Dimensional Computer Graphics) drastically increases, traditional modeling system for virtual objects are very difficult to handle. Applying VR (Virtual Reality) technology is, however, able to make the modeling systems more efficiently and intuitively. In this paper, traditional modeling operations are analyzed and their problems are clarified. We discuss what can be improved with VR technology. Then, a guideline of merging VR technology into the modeling system is described. A new modeling system is proposed using a CAVE system which is utilized in the latest VR technology. This proposed system aids in creating 3-D objects with high immersion in VEs (Virtual Environments)

협회 기술정보관리 및 유통 시스템 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on Building System of Association Technology Information Management & Dissemination)

  • 과학기술계 협회는 회원들의 산업기술활동 및 교류를 통해서 방대한 양의 정보를 생산하는 첨단 산업기술정보의 주요 생산집단이다. 현재 협회들의 정보화 현황을 살펴보면 정보 인프라 수준이 매우 열악하여 생산정보에 대한 체계적인 관리 및 서비스가 어려운 실정이다. 이에 한국과학기술정보연구원은 협회정보화지원사업의 일환으로 협회에서 발생하는 다양한 기술정보를 효과적으로 수집하여 가공하고 웹을 통하여 관리 및 유통할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 협회의 요구사항을 파악하고 모델이 될 수 있는 관련 사례들을 조사하였으며, 웹 기반 응용기술과 정보검색 시스템을 이용하였다. 결과적으로 협회 회원뿐 아니라 일반 정보이용자가 원하는 협회 기술정보를 인터넷으로 쉽고 빠르게 접근할 수 있게 되었다. 향후 대상 협회를 확대하고 시스템 기능을 고도화할 계획이다.
