Using Grounded Theory. the present study was to discover structure and process of pregnant women's information seeking experience through identifying concepts and relationships of the experience. In-depth interviews were conducted with 16 Participants selected by theoretical sampling. The findings were : 1) Pregnant womens' information seeking was caused by Acceptance of Pregnancy . 2) The phenomenon of information seeking was for Maintaining Normalcy to Pregnancy(MNP), 3) MNP occurred in connection with Perceived Anxiety and Desire to Know 4) Action/interaction Strategies to MNP were related to the Awareness of Ways Acquiring Information. Previous Knowledge. Self-Regulation, and Information Access Environment. 5) Action/interaction Strategies to MNP were Seeking Diagnostic Data of Antenatal Care. Seeking Standard Knowledge. Seeking Experience. and Seeking Emotional Support. 6) As consequences of taking strategies, pregnant women were experienced in Sufficient. or Insufficient. 7) A three-stage process of information seeking was discovered : Comparing, Contextualising, Making sure. 8) In terms of change of information needs during pregnancy, a four-phasic process was discovered. Acceptance Phase. Adjusted Phase, Focusing Phase, and Transitional Phase. Based upon these results. it needs to generate a substantive theory contributed to holistically explain and predict pregnant women's information seeking behavior.
The purpose of this study was to examine the conjugal role structure in the purchasing decision process : problem precognition, information seeking and evaluating, final decision, and actually making the purchase, through a survey of the degree of conjugal involvement. The specific objectives were 1) to examine the conjugal role structure and differences at each phase of the decision process in purchasing of residence and twelve durable household consumer goods, 2) to determine the differences between conjugal role structure in each phase of the purchasing decision process and conjugal demographic factors(number of years married, conjugal education level, conjugal occupation, and income). Questionnaires were given to randomly selected husbands and wives in /seoul I October, 1980. data from the 275 responses were analyzed by percentage, mean, and F-test(analysis of variance). The results are as follows : 1) The conjugal role structure for the purchasing decision process of residence and twelve durable household consumer goods was analyzed by percent. It was found that role structure was specialized by the type of item. for instance, furniture and home appliances were purchased by wives; amusement goods and cars were purchased by husbands' and residence was purchased by joint. However, conjugal role structure in the purchasing decision process differed by phased of process : (1) Wives involvement in the phase of problem recognition was greater than their involvement in information seeking and evaluating, but husbands' involvement a in the phase of information seeking and evaluating was slightly greater than their involvement in problem recognition. (2) Husbands' involvement in the phase of making the final decision was far greater than their involvement I information seeking and evaluating. (3) Wives' involvement in the actually making of the purchase was far greater than their involvement in making the final decision. 2) Only one among conjugal demographic factors was significantly related to conjugal role structure. That, is, conjugal role structure in the purchasing decision process showed that the wives' involvement I making the final decision and in actually making the purchase increased with number of years married.
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the determinants of corporate anti-corruption practice disclosure (ACPD) from the perspective of rent-seeking theory. Research design, data, and methodology - Data are hand-collected from corporate social responsibility reports (CSRR) issued by 724 A-share listed firms in China. This paper provides an empirical analysis of the relationship between ownership structure and corporate ACPD as well as its moderating role in the institutional environment. Results - Our findings indicate that rent-seeking is a key factor in influencing corporate ACPD. State-owned enterprises disclose significantly more anti-corruption information than private ones in order to achieve personal promotion of top executives. Monopoly enterprises reported significantly less anti-corruption information than enterprises in competitive industries due to their rent-seeking behavior. The reduction of government intervention and improvement of legal environment are helpful to curb corporate rent-seeking activities and enhance the level of corporate ACPD. Conclusions - Rent-seeking is an important factor in explaining corporate voluntary disclosure in emerging countries. Institutional environment also plays a moderating role in the relationship between ownership structure and corporate voluntary disclosure. Our results are of interest to policy makers, regulators and market participants that are interested in corporate voluntary disclosure and corruption prevention.
This study focused on the role of active knowledge seeking (knowledge browsing and knowledge searching) in the context of virtual community of interest. Knowledge seeking is rarely studied as an antecedent in knowledge management (KM) research. Active knowledge seeking is considered as antecedents of sense of virtual community which mediates to knowledge sharing intention and virtual community promotion. Research hypotheses are tested by applying structure equation modeling with survey data from virtual community members in South Korea. Active knowledge seeking behavior was found to be the strong predictor of sense of virtual community, which, in turn, positively affects knowledge sharing intention and virtual community promotion. Implication to practitioners is to understand and accommodate the members' knowledge seeking efforts, who are potential contributors and promoters of the virtual community. Knowledge seeking, knowledge sharing and promoting virtual community are more of human activities than technology and this study extends the understanding of such human activities. By providing a mechanism of how knowledge seeking and sharing could work harmoniously, a virtuous circle with win-win situation could be achieved in virtual communities.

The objective of this study was to provide the basic information necessary for the efficient library service policy for the graduate students in engineering field as investigating the academic information seeking behavior and demands of users who major in electronic engineering at a graduate program. Literature studies and survey through questionnaire were conducted for the purpose. The established theories were synthetically examined through literature studies, and theoretical systematization and structure for positive research were framed. Graduate students in engineering field were classified into two groups: those who major in electronic engineering and the others, and their demands for information and its seeking behavior were comparatively analyzed in this thesis.
The purposes of this study were 1)to examine the conceptual structure of purchasing motives and information seeking of beauty service, 2)to find out the effects of purchasing motives on information seeking, and 3)to investigate the differences of purchasing motives and information seeking according to the demographic variables. The questionnaire was developed based on pretest and previous studies, and completed by 331 female consumers living in Seoul and Busan. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, Cronbach's a, regression analysis, Pearson's correlation, ANOVA, and Duncan test. The results are as follows; First, factor analysis showed that the purchasing motives of beauty services consisted of five factors, such as Fashionableness, Impulse purchase, Special event, Mood & Recreation, and Practical purchasing needs. And the information seeking for beauty services consisted of four factors, such as Mass media, Opinions of neighbors, Experience & Observation, and Sales hook. Second, mass media was effected by fashionableness, impulse purchase, special event, and mood & recreation. Experience & Observation was effected by fashionableness, special event, and mood & recreation. Sales hook was effected by fashionableness, and impulse purchase. Third, the dimensions of purchasing motives and information seeking of beauty service were significantly different according to age, marriage or unmarried, and duties.
Hierarchy which is often named as the tree-structure is used to reduce complexity and show primitive structures of complicated information. This paper aims at explaining information-visualization methods using hierarchies in multimedia domains and prospecting the possible applications by examining how they affect the user's tasks involved in information-seeking activities. As a result, four types of information visualization methods named Treemap, Hyperbolic, Cone Tree and DOI Tree employed in multimedia domain, are presented and pros and cons of each method are explained in this paper. Another important part is defining the core tasks and other related-tasks in information-seeking activities, such as, overview, zoom, filter, details-on-demand, relate, history, and extract. Followings are major findings. Treemap uses 'overview' as the core task, which makes user to gain a overall meaning of the whole information cluster. Hyperbolic and DOI Tree apply 'Boom' task through the function of focus+context or by the function of meaningful scaling to magnify or downsize each node. Cone Tree, also, makes the information organizer to classify the patterns of information acquired in the process of users' information-seeking activities by using 'extract' task. Through this study, it is finally found out that the information-visualization methods using hierarchies in multimedia domains should incorporate the wide variety of functional needs related to users' information-seeking behaviors beyond the visual representation of information.
The purpose of this study was to establish the marketing strategy, that strengthens the brand royalty of their own in apparel industry and that can induce consumer's brand switching against competitive brand. This might be done by suggesting influencing factors on the brand switching for fashion goods. This study was classified into theoretical and experimental study Experimental study was done, using the survey to prove the models for consumers' responses to brand switching by the theoretical study. The survey was conducted through two preliminary questionnaires. It was used as a criterion to prove the validity of the main survey and analyse the reliability. It analyzed at last five hundred ninety-two women in the age of twenty to thirty years odd who live in Seoul and the suburban of Seoul. Followings are the summary of the results revealed through the experimental study. First, brand switching behavior of consumers far formal dress was attributed to two extremes the inner motivation of variety seeking tendency and communication contact, complex variety seeking group, true variety seeking group, derived variety seeking group, and variety avoiding group. Second, the structure of low dimension related fashion according to factor analysis, which affects brand switching, was composed to involvement in 5-dimension, information search in 3-dimension. Based on the results of this study the types of brand switching in fashion goods can be classified by the variety seeking tendency. as inner motivation, and level of contact communication as a outside stimuli. In addition this study showed a correlation among the factors for brand switching related to variables of fashion.
This study examined factors related to the motivation for the uses of cellular phones and the relationship between motivation for cellular phone use and parent-child communication among middle school students. A total of 223 questionnaires were submitted and analyzed. The characteristics of motive structure of the middle school students were found as recreation, time management, information-seeking, reassurance and fashion/showing off. Among those motivations, these middle school students examined here were found to use cellular phones in similar ways to how conventional telephone is used such as work/instrumental reasons and socializing/entertaining. The motivations showed a significant association with the level of parent-child communication. Information-seeking and time management motivation were positively related with an open communication level while fashion/showing off and recreation were negatively related with an open communication level.
The experience of many countries strongly suggests that bad governments and institutions have been a serious, if not the most serious, obstacle to economic growth and industry-structural adjustments. All public sectors pursue a mix of both predatory and productive activities-bad governments emphasizing the former, while good governments finding a way of promoting the later. In fishery public policy studies, much confusion exists about the roles of policy illustration and prescription. In general fishery public sectors involve collective actions by numerous individuals under conditions of uncertainty, complexity, bounded rationality, and imperfect information structure. All collective fisheries action organizations consist of a center(e.g., government), which leads fishery group actions, and peripheral participants(e.g., fishermen), which are controlled by the government. A paradigm is developed that gives both theoretical and empirical meaning to the constitutional determination of fisheries political preference function or fishery public sector governance structures. Three relevant spaces are specified: policy instrument, results, and constitutional. The collective-choice rules of the constitutional space structure the tradeoff between public and special fishery interest groups. Fishery public sectors seeking sustainable reductions in wasteful rent-seeking fishing activities should select constitutional principles and institutional structures that tend to promote resource sustainability. In particular, the effects of internal and external events on fisheries may result in a greater or lesser concentration of interest group power. Thus, the structure of the fishereis political power must be assessed in any prescriptive evaluation of alternative fishery governance weights.
