Due to the rapid developments in information and computer technology, the warfare paradigm is being transformed into information-centric and knowledge-based warfare. This atmosphere may have significant impact on the ROK armed forces' Force Improvement Plans (FIP) which is documented in 'Defense White Paper 2004'. We focus here on the relationship of information-centric force and deterrence of invasion. Particularly, we are interested in understanding the level of information superiority that might be required to deter the invasion. In order to solve this problem, we employed two-sided, zero-sum strategic game to simulate the outcome with six hypothetical cases devised by varying the level of information superiority.

The aim of this study is to suggest the direction of implementing the new defense logistics systems for the network centric warfare in the future. For this purpose, we reviewed SARL(Sense and Response Logistics) which receives great attention from the U.S. Department of Defence as the future logistic concept of network centric warfare, coupled with recent development in information technologies which give technical revolution in the future logistics information system. Also, we analyzed problems underlying logistics information system currently used in the Korean Armed Forces. Finally, we suggested the direction of implementing the new logistics information system for the network centric warfare, expecting to reduce total logistics cost, speed up logistics velocity, and enhance the efficiency of the combat support.

This paper presents a secure and DoS-resistant fragment authentication technique for Content-Centric Networking (CCN). Our approach not only guarantees the authenticity of each fragment, but also provides a high resistance to DoS attacks through the immediate verification of fragment authenticity at interim nodes on the routing path. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach provides much stronger security than the existing approach, without imposing a significant overhead.

현재 서비스되고 있는 홈네트워크는 가전기기들에 대한 홈오토메이션 서비스로서 웹이나 TV 등을 통한 메뉴선택 방식으로 제어되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 홈네트워크에 SMS를 통한 대화형 인터페이스를 도입함으로서 시간과 장소의 제약이 없는, 가전기기 제어를 가능하게 하였다. 대화형 인터페이스의 구현을 위해 홈네트워크 영역의 요구분석을 통하여 23개의 화행과 22개의 의미성분으로 이루어진 의미구조를 수립하였으며, WOZ(Wizard-of-OZ)방식으로 9만 6천 대화쌍을 수집하였다. 대화 처리를 위하여 예제기반 대화추론 및 응답생성 방법을 사용하였으며, SMS 영역에서의 성능향상을 위하여 전처리를 도입하였다. 구현된 서비스에 대한 성능평가 실험을 통해 사용자 만족도를 조사하였다.

Wireless communication offers the flexibility to the node movement at the spatial dimension more than the wire communication not only in IP architecture but also in Content-Centric Networking. Although it gives such advantage, the intra-domain movement of a node especially the data source node affects the communication to the access point node which in the end affects the acceptance ratio of the client node that requests the data packets from the data source node. In this paper, we use time-division access method to maintain the acceptance ratio of the client node as the effect of the intra-domain data source node movement in Content-Centric Networking. The simulation result shows that the acceptance ratio of the client node can be maintained using the time-division access method as long as the interval access time is less than the coherence time.

The multicast routing architectures have become indispensable due to the increasing needs for extreme communication services anywhere and anytime. The most recent approaches are called hierarchical and fully distributed, what have been proposed by O. Said et al. in a previous work. These proposed architectures were introduced to enhance the service-centric approach. In this paper, NS2 is used to build a simulation environment to test the hierarchical and the fully distributed multicast architectures as regards the service-centric one. The results of simulation show that the performance of the hierarchical and the fully distributed architectures outperforms the service-centric architecture. Furthermore, the fully distributed architecture is found to have the best performance.

The change of digital convergence service environment converted the subject of design into user -centric one instead of developer-centric one, and changed the existing design environment focused on product development into the new user -centric design environment. Accordingly, GUI considering user's usability come to take big shares in those contents being used for multimedia equipments. However, as the present educational contents provide complex interface due to its design produced based on the existing e-learning system, they have many problems in that they don't consider user's usability. Thus this paper aimed to analyze actual examples through GUI elements of educational contents being used for multimedia equipments and attempt to suggest some directions for development. additionally, consider the various characteristics of digital convergence environment and educational contents, and try to set up strategic directions possible to utilize user'-centric interface elements more usefully and properly at the time to produce designs.

The user-centric broadcasting environment includes the agent system and personalized broadcasting services for user-adaptive TV watching. In this paper, we propose broadcasting environment consisting of personalized broadcasting services and a multi-agent broadcasting system for the services. The proposed system employs the intelligent agent technology of the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) as well as metadata technology of MPEG-7 and TV-Anytime Forum (TVAF). To verify the usefulness of the proposed environment, we implemented a test-bed and demonstrated the proposed agent system with three services including intelligent user-information management service, information mobility service, and content retrieval service.

Information security is a critical issue for network centric warfare(NCW). This paper provides defense information security guidelines for NCW, especially for ubiquitous network computing environment. For this purpose, this paper identified changes of battle aspect of tactical level and characteristics of information threats, and finally, the research suggested several information security guidelines for NCW. This paper is to intended to help military organization's planners determine practical and implemental plans in the near future.
