Cu-matrix sintered brake pads and low-alloy heat-resistant steel are commonly applied to basic brake systems in high-energy moving machines. In this research, we analyzed the tribological characteristics to determine the influence of the air velocity between the disk and pad. At a low brake pressure with airflow, the friction stability was decreased as a result of the lack of tribofilm formation at the disk surface. However, there were no significant changes in the friction coefficient under any of the test conditions. The wear rates of the friction materials were decreased with an increase in the airflow velocity. As a result, the airflow velocity influenced the friction stability, as well as the wear rate of the friction materials and disk, but not the friction coefficient.

This paper presents rational modeling and analysis method for complex structures with various structural joints. For modeling of structural joint, a general modeling technique is newly proposed by flexibility influence coefficient and inverse of flexibility matrix and static reduction concept which is applied to the retained DOFs(degrees of freedom) of detailed finite element model of struction joints. By this method, joint model with contact surface. which can not be reduced by the general reduction theory such as Guyan reduction theory ,can be reduced effectively. And in this method, the nonlinearity of the contact surface can be linearized within a proper range and the boundary effects of joint region can be excluded. Using the proposed method, screwed joint, glued joint and bolted joint are analyzed. And the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiments.
This paper deals with the free vibrations of truncated conical shell with uniform thickness by the transfer influence coefficient method. The classical thin shell theory based upon the $Fl\ddot{u}gge$ theory is assumed and the governing equations of a conical shell are written as a coupled set of first order differential equations using the transfer matrix. The Runge-Kutta-Gill integration and bisection method are used to solve the governing differential equations and to compute the eigenvalues respectively. The natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes are calculated numerically for the truncated conical shell with any combination of boundary conditions at the edges. And all boundary conditions and the intermediate supports between conical shell and foundation could be treated only by adequately varying the values of the spring constants. Numerical results are compared with existing exact and numerical solutions of other methods.
This study is concerned with the production of carbon fiber reinforced carbon(C/C) with polyaromatic mesophase pitch as matrix precursor and with the investigation of friction-wear characteristics in ambient air using a constant speed type of friction tester. The main problem in using the polyaromatic mesophase as the matrix precursor is the high viscosity which may limit the complete impregnation of the fiber preform in the vacuum. To solve these problems two dimensional carbon fiber fabrics were infiltrated with meso-phase pitch in the pitch impregnator. After the impregnation and the heat treatment process. C/C com-posites were characterized by density porosity to monitor the influence of high pressure and temperature. It showed that the bulk density was increased and the apparent porosity and the density increasing rate was reduced as repeating the impregnation the carbonization and the heat treatment. The friction-wear charac-teristics of C/C composites were investigated by measuring the average friction coefficient and the specific wear rate as functions friction speed and friction pressure using a constant speed type of friction tester. C/C composite4s showed the average friction coefficient to be reduced as increasing the friction speed and the friction pressure.

In this study, we investigate the vibration of single-walled carbon nanotubes embedded in a polymeric matrix using nonlocal elasticity theories with account arbitrary boundary conditions effects. A Winkler type elastic foundation is employed to model the interaction of nanobeam and the surrounding elastic medium. Influence of all parameters such as nonlocal small-scale effects, Winkler modulus parameter, vibration mode and aspect ratio of nanobeam on the vibration frequency are analyzed and discussed. The mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes and polymer matrix are treated and an analytical solution is derived using the governing equations of the nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam models. Solutions have been compared with those obtained in the literature and The results obtained show that the non-dimensional natural frequency is significantly affected by the small-scale coefficient, the vibrational mode number and the elastic medium.
Since the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of matrix phase is larger about 4 times than that of W particle in tungsten heavy alloy, the thermal stresses due to the CTE difference between the two phases are induced in the alloy during heating and cooling processes. In the present study, a series of W heavy alloy containing various W particle volumes of 0 to 90% is made to investigate the residual stress taking place during cooling process. The CTE and residual stress of the series of alloy are measured by dilatometer and X-ray diffractometer. The residual stress of W particle is in compressive stress irrespective of W particle vol% and tends to increase with decreasing W particle vol% while that of the matrix phase is in tensile stress. The measured residual stress of W particle is about a third of calculated thermal stress. The influence of W particle vol% on the residual stress of W heavy alloy is discussed in terms of the deformation behaviors of W particle and matrix phase.

Nowdays, Most of Internet Contents delivered as a compressed file. It gives many advantages like deduction of communication bandwidth and transmission time etc. In case of JPEG Compression, Quantization is the most important procedure which accomplish the compression. In general signal processing, Quantization is the process which converts continuous analog signal to discrete digital signal. As you known already, Quantization over JPEG compression is to reduce magnitude of pixel value in spatial domain or coefficient in frequency domain. A lot of Data Hiding algorithms also developed to applicable for those compressed files. In this paper, we are going to unveil the influence of quantization table which used in the process of JPEG compression. Even thought most of algorithm modify frequency coefficients with considering image quality, they are ignoring the influence of quantization factor corresponding with the modified frequency coefficient. If existing algorithm adapt this result, they can easily evaluate their performances.

Recently it is increased by degrees to produce complex and large lattice structures such as bridge, tower, crane, and space structures. In general, in order to analyse these structures we have used finite element method(FEM). In this method, however, it is necessary to use a large amount of computer memory and to take long computation time. For overcoming this problem, the Authors have developed the transfer dynamic stiffness coefficient method(TDSCM) which consists on the concept of the substructure synthesis method and transfer influence coefficient method. In this paper, the new free vibration analysis method for large type lattice structure is formulated by the TDSCM. And the results obtained by TDSCM are compared with those obtained by FEM, transfer matrix method and experiment. And it is confirmed for TDSCM to be the numerical high accuracy and high speed structure analysis method.
We studied the influence of GaAs top-layer thickness on the small-signal modulation response and 56 Gb/s four-level pulse-amplitude modulation eye quality of 850 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). We considered the proportionality of the gain-saturation coefficient to the photon lifetime. The simulation results that employed the transfer-matrix method and laser rate equations led to the conclusion that the proportionality should be considered for proper explanation of the experimental results. From the obtained optical eyes, we could determine an optimum thickness of the GaAs top layer that rendered the best eye quality of VCSEL. We also compared two results: one result with a fixed gain-saturation coefficient and the other that considered the proportionality. The former result with the constant gain-saturation coefficient demonstrated a better eye quality and a wider optimum range of the GaAs top-layer thickness because the resultant higher damping reduced the relaxation oscillation.

Influence of the grating half-period fluctuation on the normalized coupling coefficient has been studied by an effective index transfer matrix method in quarter wavelength shifted(QWS) DFB lasers. The laser facets are assumed to be perfectly antireflection coated, and the period fluctuation is modeled by two correlated Gaussian random variables. In the presence of the random fluctuation in the grating period, effective normalized coupling coefficient is reduced because the in-phase feedback strength Is weakened. We have shown that the normalized coupling coefficient determined from the side mode spacing is less than the effective coupling coefficient, and the normalized coupling coefficient determined from the mode spacing or spontaneous emission spectrum does not properly represent the feedback strength of the grating.
