  • Traditionally, the statistical methods analyze the relationship between landslide occurrence and related factors(soil depth, soil strength, slope angle, vegetation, etc.) in GIS technique. However, those methods have no mechanical meaning. Therefore, the deterministic model is suggested in this research. The method analyzes the mechanical equilibrium of a potential slide block and then calculates a slope safety factor. Since this method is able to consider the balance of forces applied to the slope and is a more reasonable method for an individual site. In this research, the spatial data is obtained, managed and analyzed using GIS technique. The infinite slope model is used to evaluate factor of safety and analyze the slope stability.

  • Decision problem called an optimal release policies, after testing a software system in development phase and transfer it to the user, is studied. The applied model of release time exploited infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process. This infinite non-homogeneous Poisson process is a model which reflects the possibility of introducing new faults when correcting or modifying the software. The failure life-cycle distribution used generalized gamma type distribution which has the efficient various property because of various shape and scale parameter. Thus, software release policies which minimize a total average software cost of development and maintenance under the constraint of satisfying a software reliability requirement becomes an optimal release policies. In a numerical example, after trend test applied and estimated the parameters using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data, estimated software optimal release time.

  • In the paper we study the finite-time ruin probability in a general risk model with constant interest force, in which the claim sizes are pairwise quasi-asymptotically independent and arrive according to an arbitrary counting process, and the premium process is a general stochastic process. For the case that the claim-size distribution belongs to the consistent variation class, we obtain an asymptotic formula for the finite-time ruin probability, which holds uniformly for all time horizons varying in a relevant infinite interval. The obtained result also includes an asymptotic formula for the infinite-time ruin probability.

  • In this paper, finite impulse response (FIR) smoothers are proposed for discrete-time systems. The proposed FIR smoother is designed under the constraints of linearity, unbiasedness, FIR structure, and independence of the initial state information. It is also obtained by directly minimizing the performance criterion with unbiased constraints. The approach to the MVF smoother proposed in this paper is logical and systematic, while existing results have heuristic assumption, such as infinite covariance of the initial state. Additionally, the proposed MVF smoother is based on the general system model that may have the singular system matrix and has both system and measurement noises. Thorough simulation studies, it is shown that the proposed MVF smoother is more robust against modeling uncertainties numerical errors than fixed-lag Kalman smoother which is infinite impulse response (IIR) type estimator.

  • The determination of sound pressure radiated from periodic plate structures is fundamental in the estimation of noise levels in aircraft fuselages and ship hull structures. As a robust approach to this problem, here a very general and comprehensive analytical model for prediction the sound radiated by a vibration plate stiffened by periodically spaced orthogonal symmetric beams subjected to a sinusoidally time varying point load is developed. The plate is assumed to be infinite in extent, and the beams are considered to exert both line force and moment reactions on it. Structural damping is included in both plate and beam materials. From this theoretical model, the sound pressure levels on axis in a semi-infinite fluid(water) bounded by the plate with the variation in the loactions of an external using three numerical tools such as the Gauss-Jordan method, the LU decomposition method and the IMSL numerical package.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the mean of a population which has a linear trend, when both n, the sample size, and k, the reciprocal of the sampling fraction, are odd numbers. The proposed method, not having the drawbacks of centered systematic sampling, centered modified sampling and centered balanced sampling, consists of selecting a sample by balanced systematic sampling and estimating the population mean by using interpolation. We compare the efficiency of the proposed method and existing methods under the criterion of the expected mean square error based on the infinite superpopulation model.

  • In this paper, an adaptive passivity based excitation and governor control scheme is proposed to enhance the transient stability of a single machine infinite bus power system with parametric uncertainties. We employ a state model where the frequency, the difference between active and mechanical power, and the difference between the squared terminal voltage and its reference are regarded as state variables. Using this state model, the proposed controller is obtained in two steps; firstly, a simple direct adaptive passivation controller is designed for the power system with parametric uncertainties; then a linear PI controller is applied to guarantee the stability of the closed loop system.

  • In this study, Pasternak foundation model, which is a two parameter foundation model, is used to analyze the behavior of laterally loaded beams embedded in semi-infinite media. Total potential energy variation of the system is written to formulate the problem that yielded the required field equations and the boundary conditions. Shear force discontinuities are exposed within the boundary conditions by variational method and are validated by photo elastic experiments. Exact solution of the deflection of the beam is obtained. Both foundation parameters are obtained by self calibration for this particular problem and loading type in this study. It is shown that, like the first parameter k, the second foundation parameter G also depends not only on the material type but also on the geometry and the loading type of the system. On the other hand, surface deflection of the semi infinite media under singular loading is obtained and another method is proposed to determine the foundation parameters using the solution of this problem.
