  • Since Industry 4.0, there is a growing interest in smart manufacturing across all industries. However, there are few studies on this topic in the garment industry despite the growing interest in implementing smart manufacturing. This paper presents the feasibility and essential considerations for implementing smart manufacturing in the garment industry. A systematic review analysis was conducted. Studies on garment manufacturing and smart manufacturing were searched separately in the Scopus database. Key technologies for each manufacturing were derived by keyword analysis. Studies on key technologies in each manufacturing were selected; in addition, bibliographic analysis and cluster analysis were conducted to understand the progress of technological development in the garment industry. In garment manufacturing, technology studies are rare as well as locally biased. In addition, there are technological gaps compared to other manufacturing. However, smart manufacturing studies are still in their infancy and the direction of garment manufacturing studies are toward smart manufacturing. More studies are needed to apply the key technologies of smart manufacturing to garment manufacturing. In this case, the progress of technology development, the difference in the industrial environment, and the level of implementation should be considered. Human components should be integrated into smart manufacturing systems in a labor-intensive garment manufacturing process.

  • According to the demand for services. a single point contract between a user and provider spreads over the industry, and the relationship between them is a main issue. The user wants to make a deal with the contributor which can provide the effective services to the user. This study is to estimate the efficiency of global logistics industry with Data Envelopment Analysis, by nations from 2001 to 2005. Furthermore, it tries to estimate the inefficiency affected by macro factors, and proves the association between them using Tobit model. Global logistics industry has made growth both externally and internally more than doubled for the last 5years. Technical inefficiency of global logistics industry is more influenced by pure technical inefficiency than inefficiency of scale. Therefore technical efficiency can be increased by decreasing pure technical inefficiency. Through this study, it found that the logistics industry got influenced to its efficiency by high price of oil, and courier and transportation service market is formed stably. Furthermore, it advocates policy planners to consider effectiveness and clearness of policy which influence to inefficiency of logistics industry. Also, it found that labor and financial support can give critical effect.

  • The analysis of the tourist industry in relation to the general industries is of high use as a means to measure an economic effectiveness as the interest in the policy of service industry increases. From the Input-Output Tables of both 2007 and 2008, Inverse Matrix Coefficients, Imports Requirement Coefficients, and Value Added Requirement Coefficients have been derived. As a result of analysis, the main indexes of the industry-related analysis have almost no differences as compared with those of the 1980s. In spite of the reduction in the scope of the tourist industry in this paper, it is estimated that the reason why the above-mentioned result has been derived is that the influence of today's tourist industry grows bigger than that of the past. In the future studies, the agreement on the classification of tourist industry is requested. In addition, all kinds of calculations have to be derived in general, and the general parts of the tourist industry have to be analyzed in details.

  • This study has conducted the economic effects of R&D investment in the IT industry using multi-regression analysis with three independent variables; capital stock, labor input and R&D stock. In this study, the IT industry has been categorized into three sub-industries; broadcasting communication appliances, information appliances and electronic components industry. Our analysis has found that auto-correlation shows considerable levels whereas figures of t-value and R-square show significant levels among all the IT sub-industries. Meanwhile, the values of R&D stock in the information appliances industry and that of labor input coefficients in the electronic components industry were minus, thus multi-collinearity was suspected. We have solved the problems regarding auto-correlation and multi-collinearity through Cochrane-Orcutt estimation and principal components analysis. This paper has derived the implications that R&D investment in the broadcasting communication industry is much more influential than any other IT sub-industry.
