In this paper, a low-profile dipole array antenna with monopole-like radiation for on-body communications is proposed. The proposed antenna, operating in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band, is designed with consideration of the human body effect. By placing eight planar dipole antenna elements symmetrically around the z-axis, the proposed antenna achieves monopole-like radiation characteristics with a low profile. The antenna has overall dimensions of $0.44{\lambda}_0{\times}0.44{\lambda}_0{\times}0.013{\lambda}_0$ at 2.45 GHz in the ISM 2.45 GHz band (2.4-2.485 GHz) and a 10-dB return loss bandwidth of 4.9% ranging from 2.4 to 2.52 GHz.
The common-source low noise amplifier(LNA) with inductive degeneration using a genetic algorithm is designed and tested for a down converter in an industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band application and a wireless broadband internet service (WiBro). The genetic algorithm optimizes the reflection coefficients to be well matched the input and output ports between multistage transistor amplifiers, and it generates low voltage standing wave ratio as well as gain flatness of the amplifier. The stability and the gain flatness of the LNA have been improved by combining the matching circuits and the series feedback microstrip lines with inductive degeneration at common-source port. In the frequency range of ISM band and WiBro application operating at $2.3GHz{\sim}2.5GHz$, the measured power gain and maximum voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the LNA are $41{\pm}0.5dB$ and 1.3, and the noise figure of the LNA is lower than 0.85dB. The above results are agreed well with the theoretical values of the amplifiers.

In this paper, we suggested the novel monopole antenna for dual band characteristics by a linear monopole antenna combined with crossed planar monopole antenna. The target frequency is ISM(Industrial Scientific Medical) 2.45GHz/5.8GHz. The distinctive features of the proposed antenna in this paper is based on the slit in the surface of a crossed planar monopole for the dual band characteristics and the omnidirectional radiation patterns. The compact size of the proposed antenna is $36mm{\times}5.4mm{\times}5.4mm$. According to the simulation results, the bandwidth, the reflection coefficients below -10dB, of 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz are 150MHz and 1.43GHz, respectively. Consequently the proposed antenna structures is apply to the antenna for dual band characteristics.

USNs (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) such as IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee network share ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) frequency band with WiFi networks. Once both networks operate in a region, packet collision may happen because of frequency overlapping. To assure this possibility, we conducted experiments where WiFi and ZigBee communication networks had been installed in an area. As a result of the test, successful data transmission rate were reduced due to the frequency overlapping between a WiFi communication channel and a ZigBee communication band. To cope with this problem, we propose a collision avoidance algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, if frequency collision is sensed, new communication channel with different frequency band is allocated to each node. Performance of the proposed frequency collision avoidance algorithm was tested and the results were described.

In this paper, the SIW(Substrate Integrated Waveguide)-based feeding antenna for the application of SDR(Software Defined Radar) is designed and manufactured. It is usually well-known that SIWs are easily integrated on PCB and have low transmission loss toward high powered input signal. Also, it is recommended that SIWs are strongly immunized to Electromagnetic Interferences(EMI). In particular, the manufactured antennas are loaded on the USRP(Universal Software Radio Peripheral) platform and employed to detect target RCS as an experiment in this paper. The operating frequency of the proposed antenna is in ISM(Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band(2.4~2.48 GHz) and the measured gain is over 8 dBi at 2.44 GHz.

When wireless devises for MICS(Medical Implant Communication Service) or ISM(Industrial Scientific and Medical) bands are designed, it is necessary to verify the performance by using a human body flat phantom. However, most of studies on the phantom are limited to the biological effects of mobile-phone EMF. In this paper, semi-solid phantoms having the electric properties suggested by FCC at MICS and ISM bands are fabricated. The manufactured phantoms satisfy the electric properties($\varepsilon_r=56.7$ and $\sigma=0.94$ at MICS band, $\varepsilon_r=52.7$ and $\sigma=1.95$ at ISM band) at each band. All the composing materials for phantoms are commercially available in domestic market. Two methods using both polyethylene powder and TX-151 and glycerin at each band are proposed for diverse purpose. The electrical properties of the fabricated phantoms are measured by a dielectric probe kit and network analyzer after the lapse of one day (24 hours).
A new design approach for realising low-power low-voltage high-Q high-order RE bandpass filter is proposed. Based on the gyrator-C inductor topology, a 2$\^$nd/-order biquadratic bandpass filter can be realised by adding a series capacitor to the input port of the gyrator. High-Q 2$\^$nd/-order and 4$\^$th/-order fully differential RF bandpass filters operating in the 2.4-㎓ ISM (Industrial, scientific and medical) frequency band under a 2-V single power supply voltage with low power dissipation are reported.
With advance in technologies for wireless sensor networks(WSNs), 2.4 GHz band has become gradually attractive due to increase in low-power wireless communication devices. Especially ZigBee(IEEE 802.15.4-based) technology whose frequency band includes the 2.4GHz industrial, scientific and medical band providing nearly worldwide availability has been universally applicable to a various remote monitoring system and applications related home network system. However network throughput of these systems is significantly deteriorated due to this ISM band is a license-exemption used in a variety of low-power wireless communication devices. For instance, other IEEE 802 wireless standards such as Bluetooth, WLAN, Wi-Fi and others cause radio interference to ZigBee. The experiments was carried out to analyze radio frequency interference between heterogeneous devices using ISM bands to improve the limited frequency utility factor. Finally this paper suggests a frequency hopping-based adaptive multi-channel methods to decrease interference with empirical results.

LED(Light Emitting Diode) components have advantages of longer lifetime, lower power consumption and easy-to-control, compare to normal lamp and fluorescent light, according to the development of recent technologies. Thus, lots of illuminations which utilize LED components could be used. Recently, Visible Light Communication(VLC) which is a part of communication technologies, utilizing high speed response characteristic of LED components, started receiving public attention. In case of VLC, there is no need of frequency allocation due to no use of radio, but also no interference exists during data transmission, much different in ISM((Industrial Scientific Medical band). This is the reason why a lot of research results about VLC are becoming issued. In this paper, a survey of feasibility for using VLC utilizing an original LED illumination for underwater applications has been done and a primitive possibility of its application has been examined.
