  • To schedule a Reconfigurable Manufacturing Cell (RMC), reconfiguration and setting decisions should be made first. Those decisions, together with characteristics of production orders, affect attainable performance of a system. So an integrative approach is required considering all decisions and characteristics rather than dealing with each of them separately. Pallet-fixture allocation, as a decision problem in setting, which determines the number of pallets to be equipped with each fixture type to produce different types of products, has rarely been investigated. In this study, several pallet-fixture allocation rules are proposed including both simple and novel ones. Then system performance is investigated through various combinations of setting and scheduling decisions (rules) for given system configurations and production orders, via simulation. The result shows that one of proposed pallet-fixture allocation rules which considers both configuration and order characteristic outperforms the others, justifying the necessity of an integrative approach in the RMC operation.

  • This paper discusses heat problem of IC, which composes the electronic instruments, to guarantee reliability of electronic instruments. And also proposes the unified equivalent model for various electronic instrument products to guarantee reliability and life of its parts. Because electronic instruments are down sizing and operated with high frequency, the internal temperature of electronic instruments is rising steadily. The internal temperature of the electronic instruments gives a big effect to electronic instrument's reliability and life. The semiconductor parts are the representative heat generation parts because of its complicated function, high frequency and high density. Consequently, guaranteeing reliability and life of electronic semiconductor is the important start point in securing the reliability and life of the electronic instrument product. Unfortunately, there are many factors, which affect heat dissipation efficiency. The heat dissipation efficiency follows the environment where the electronic instrument products are used. Therefore it is very difficult to define reliability and life of the electronic manufactures. Electronic instrument products are composed of printed circuit board (PCB), integrated circuit (IC), resistance, and capacitor and so on. And there are superposed thermal resistances, because the parts are arrayed on the printed circuit board (PCB), Therefore the total thermal resistance is variable. Consequently it cannot have same thermal model for each electronic instrument products. In the next part, we propose the unified equivalent model for various electronic instruments. And using the proposed equivalent model proofs the method for analysis reliability of electronic parts.

  • Recently, with the development of automation in the industrial field, research on anomaly detection is being actively conducted. An application for anomaly detection used in factory automation is camera-based defect inspection. Vision camera inspection shows high performance and efficiency in factory automation, but it is difficult to overcome the instability of lighting and environmental conditions. Although camera inspection using deep learning can solve the problem of vision camera inspection with much higher performance, it is difficult to apply to actual industrial fields because it requires a huge amount of normal and abnormal data for learning. Therefore, in this study, we propose a network that overcomes the problem of collecting abnormal data with 72 geometric transformation deep learning methods using only normal data and adds an outlier exposure method for performance improvement. By applying and verifying this to the MVTec data set, which is a database for auto-mobile parts data and outlier detection, it is shown that it can be applied in actual industrial sites.

  • A methodology for on-line data reconciliation and optimization has been proposed to minimize the energy cost of a utility system. As industrial data tend to be corrupted by noise or gross error, fast and robust data reconciliation technique is essential for the on-line optimization of utility system. Thus, we propose the hierarchical decomposition approach that can be applicable to on-line data reconciliation and optimization. As this approach divides whole system into several subsystems and removes the nonlinearity of constraint systematically, it handles complexity of system easily and shows good performance in accuracy and computation speed. Through case studies, we prove that this methodology is a good candidate for on-line data reconciliation and optimization.

  • Currently, the needs of open standard and integrated network, and also applications of Ethernet network based system are increasing. By applying and expanding TCP/IP based network technology from high to low control level, factory automation application has been implemented, and thus integrated factory automation system has been accomplished, which is directly interoperable between high level management program and DB system. This paper proposes a communication control device which is based on Ethernet/IP standard system for factory automation. The proposed system is workable in the environment of a network system, which is based on CIP standard interface technology. The proposed system can also contribute to improve data communication characteristics.

  • The two-degree-of-freedom direct drive induction motor, which is capable of linear, rotary and helical motion, has a wide application in special industry such as industrial robot arms. It is inevitable that the linear motion and rotary motion generate coupling effect on each other on account of the high integration. The analysis of this effect has great significance in the research of two-degree-of-freedom motors, which is also crucial to realize precision control of them. The coupling factor considering the coupling effect is proposed and addressed by 3D finite element method. Then the corrected mathematical model is presented by importing the coupling factor. The results from it are verified by 3D finite element model and prototype test, which validates the corrected mathematical model.

  • This paper presents the design and operation of an autonomous robot for pyroprocess automation, which requires unique approaches beyond those used in industrial applications to achieve the desired performance. Maintaining an extremely dry atmosphere is crucial to handle various materials, including chloride, and an autonomous system ensures this dry environment. The drying room dehumidifier was carefully selected and designed to generate dry air, and different types of dry air conditioning performance were evaluated, including assessing worker accessibility inside the mock-up to determine the system's feasibility. Containers used for process materials were modified to fit the gripper system of the gantry robot for automation. The loading and unloading of process materials in each equipment were automatically performed to connect the process equipment with the robotic system. The gantry robot primarily operated through macro motion to approach waypoints containing process materials, eliminating the need for precise approach motion. The robot's tapered jaw design allowed it to grasp the target object even with imperfect positioning. Robot motions were programmed using a robot simulator for initial positioning and motion planning, and real accuracy was tested in a mock-up facility using the OPC platform.

Namely. we will attest to a revolution whereby we will be freed from brain work by automation systems. computers and artificial intelligence. The technological revolution of the Information society has also resulted in various changes in the area of design. Designers almost depend on the newest computers of advanced functions to drastically reduce the production time. maximize the effects. save the cost and differentiate the design products for a stronger competitiveness. Accordingly. the media of design expression are changing. In short. the design works which had been done on the plane are now being expressed on the three-dimensional cyber space. Thus, this study alms to review the effects. positive and negative. of such a trend on the design.
