Dual arm manipulators have been developed for the entertainment purpose such as humanoid type or the industrial application such as automatic assembly. Nowadays, there are some issues for applying the dual arm robot system into the various fields. Especially, robots can substitute human and perform the dangerous activity such as search and rescue in the battle field or disaster. In the paper, the dual arm manipulator which can be adapted to the rescue robot with the mobile platform was developed. The kinematic design was proposed for the rescue activity and the required specification was determined through the kinematic analysis and the dynamic analysis in the various conditions. The proposed dual arm manipulator was manufactured based on the vibration analysis result and its performance was proved by the experiment.

Recent requirements for the fast and accurate motion in industrial robot manipulator need more advanced control techniques. To satisfy the requirements, importance of the force control is being continuously increased and the expensive force sensor is usually installed to obtain the contact force information in practice. This information is indispensable for the force control of maintaining the desired contact force. However the sensor cost is too high to be used in industrial applications. In this paper, it is proposed to estimate the contact force occurred between the end-effector of 2 DOF robots and environment. The contact force estimation system is developed based on the static and dynamic models of 2 DOF robot manipulators, where the contact force is described with respect to the link torque. The Extended Kalman Filter is designed and its performance is verified in simulations.

This paper proposes a structure of a variable impedance control system based on sensor-less external force estimator of industrial manipulators for cyber physical production systems (CPPS). To implement CPPS, a feedback system is constructed by using the robot operating system (ROS) and an external force estimator which is designed to measure the external force applied to the manipulator without a force sensor. Based on the robot dynamics, the robot-human cooperating system for the cyber physics production system is implemented through a controller that changes the impedance characteristics of the manipulator according to the situation using the external force estimator. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control system.

Up to now, most robot control systems are very naive. They consist of a number of independent position-servo loops to control each joint angle separately. Those control systems have constant predefined gains and do not cover the complex dynamic interactions between manipulator joints. As a result, the manipulator is severely limited in range of application, speed of operation and variation of payload. This study proposed a new method to design a robot manipulator controller capable of tracking the reference trajectories of joint angles in a reasonable accuracy to cope with actual situations of varying payload, uncertain parameters. The adaptive model following control method has been used to improve existing robot manipulator controllers. The proposed controller is operated by adjusting its gains based on the response of the manipulator in such a way that the manipulator closely matches the reference model trajectories defined by the designer. The stability of adaptive controller is based on the Second Method of Lyapunov. The coupling among joints and the nonlinearity in the dynamic equation are explicitly considered. The designed manipulator controller shows good tracking performance under various load varia- tion and parameter uncertainties.

During operating given working a robot manipulator makes some problems such as the accumulation of the error or the deviation from the command trajectory. These problems are mainly due to the disturbance noise or unmodeled system parameters. To solve these problems most of robot manipulators equip the controller. But if exact controller gains are not seleced we can't decrease the working efficiency(such as compensation about error or deviation) of the robot manipulator. So in this paper we present the controller gain tuning law by which we can find the controller gain which satisfies the per-formance specification of the robot manipulator during working of the robot. The proposed algorithm is derived from the Laypunov direct method. And by the simulation on the 4-axis SCARA type robot(SAMSUNG SM5 Robot) we guarantee the performance of this algorithm.
In recent years, robots have been used widely in industrial field and have been expanded as a result of continuous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization. The goal of this paper is to design the serial manipulator through kinematic analysis and to control the position and orientation of end-effector with respect to time. In general, a structure of industrial robot consists of several links connected in series by various types of joints, typically revolute and prismatic joints. The movement of these joints is determined in inverse kinematic analysis. Compared to the complicated structure of parallel and hybrid robot, open loop system retains the characteristic that each link is independent and is controlled easily. AC servo motor is used to place the robot end-effector toward the accurate point with the desired speed and power while it is operated by position control algorithm. The robot end-effector should trace the given trajectory within the appropriate time. The trajectory of end-effector can be displayed on the monitor of general personal computer through Opengl program.

An industrial robot, installed real manufacturing processes an element of the system autmation, can be considered as an uncertain system due to dynamic uncertainties in inertial parameters and varying payloads. Most difficuties in controlling a robot manipulator are caused by the fact that the dynamic equations describing the motions of the manipulator are inherently nonlinear and heavily coupled effects between joints and associated links. Existing robot conrol systems have constant predefined gains and do not cover the complex dynamic interactions between manipulator joints. As a result, the manipulator is severly limited in range of application, speed of operation and variation of payload. The proposed controller is operated by adjusting its gains based on the response of the manipulator in such a way that the manipulator closely matches the reference model trajectories defined by the desinger. The proposed manipulator studied has two loops, an inner loop of model reference adaptive controller and an outer loop of state feedback controller with integral action to guarantee the stability of the adaptive scheme. This adaptation algorithm is based on the hyperstailiy approach with an improved Lyapunov function. The coupling among joints and the nonlinearity in the dynamic equation are explicitly considered. The designed manipulator controller shows good tracking performance in practical working environment, various load variations and parameter uncertainties.

This paper presents an effective trajectory planning algorithm for industrial robot manipulators. Given the end-effector trajectory in Cartesian space, together with the relevant constraints and task specifications, the proposed method is capable of planning the optimum end-effector trajectory. The proposed trajectory planning algorithm considers the joint acceleration limit, end-effector velocity limits, and trajectory allowance. A feedforward compensator is also incorporated in the proposed algorithm to counteract the delay in joint dynamics. The algorithm is carefully designed so that it can be directly adopted with the existing industrial manipulators. The proposed algorithm can be easily programmed for various tasks given the specifications and constraints. A three-dimensional test trajectory was planned with the proposed algorithm and tested with the Performer MK3s industrial manipulator. The results verified effective manipulator performance within the constraints.
Most of the initial forms of cooperative robots were intended to repeat simple tasks in a given space. So, they showed no significant difference from industrial robots. However, research for improving worker's productivity and supplementing human's limited working hours is expanding. Also, there have been active attempts to use it as a service robot by applying AI technology. In line with these social changes, we produced a mobile manipulator that can improve the worker's efficiency and completely replace one person. First, we combined cooperative robot with mobile robot. Second, we applied speech recognition technology and deep learning based object detection. Finally, we integrated all the systems by ROS (robot operating system). This system can communicate with workers by voice and drive autonomously and perform the Pick & Place task.

We are concerned with the dual-arm manipulation for disaster-responding special-purpose machinery. This paper presents a control strategy for performing complex work in an irregular environment, the control algorithm, the hydraulic circuit, and the master devices. The occurrence of collapse accidents at disaster sites such as natural disasters and building collapses is increasing, which is emerging as a social problem. In particular, for the initial response, various tasks must be performed in an irregular environment. The Marionette algorithm for intuitive control of 'as if the operator's arm is moving' was presented as a control strategy for dual-arm manipulators with attachments and the prototype. Next, the hydraulic circuit, control system, and wearable-type master device presented to implement the Marionette algorithm were explained and verified through an experiment in which rebar-cutting, drum-lifting, and lifting a bottle with one arm and pouring the water into the bucket with the other arm were tested.
