Stability of the Robot Compliant Motion Control, Part 1 : Theory (로보트의 Compliance 제어에서의 안정성:이론)

  • This two-part paper presents a control method that allows for stable interaction of a robot manipulator with environment. In part 1, we focus on the input output relationships (unstructured modeling) of the robot and environment dynamics. This analysis leads to a general condition for stability of the robot and environment taken as a whole. This stability condition, for stable maneuver, prescribes a finite sensitivity for robot and environment where sensitivity of the robot (or the environment) is defined as a mapping forces into displacement. According to this stability condition, smaller sensitivity either in robot or in environment leads to narrower stability range. In the limit, when both systems have zero sensitivity, stability cannot be guaranteed. These models do not have any particular structure, yet they can model a wide variety of industrial and research robot manipulators and environment dynamic behavior. Although this approach of modeling may not lead to and design procedure, it will allow us to understand the fundamental issues in stability when a robot interacts with an environment.

  • We present a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system basedon digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot in this paper. The need to meet demanding control requirement in increasingly complex dynamical control systems under significant uncertainties, leads toward design of intelligent manipulation robots. The TMS320C80 is used in implementing real time fuzzy control to provide an enhanced motion control for robot manipulators. In this paper, a Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variables of the controller. In the synthesis of a Fuzzy Logic Controller, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic and high levels that modify control rules. The proposed Self-Organizing Fuzzy Controller scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Performance of the SOFC is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a Dual-Arm robot with eight joints.

  • In recent years, robot has been used widely in industrial field and has been expanded as a result of continous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization. The goal of this paper is to design the special serial manipulator through the understanding of the structure, mobility, and analysis of serial manipulator. Thereafter we control the position and orientation of end-effector with respect to time. In general, a structure of industrial robot consists of several links connected in series by various types of joints. Typically revolute and prismatic joints. The movement of these joints is determined in inverse kinematic analysis. Compared to the complicated structure of parallel and hybrid robot, open loop system retains the characteristic that each link is independent and is controlled easily by AC servomotor that is used to place the robot end-effector toward the accurate point with the desired speed and power while it is operated by position control algorithm. The robot end-effector should trace the given trajectory within the appropriate time. The trajectory of 3D end-effector model made by OpenGL can be displayed on the monitor program simultaneously

  • In recent years, robots have been used widely in industrial field and have been expanded as a result of continuous research and development for high-speed and miniaturization.   • This paper presents the development of the underwater cleaning robot platform for a higher efficiency in manufacturing industry. Human operators directly go into the cistern and clean sludge after drainage of the water so far. It is sometimes dangerous because of the harmful chemical materials from the product making process. In addition, it takes long time for water drainage and supplying it back. However, the robot cleaning operation does not need to drain water so that it could be applied to the sludge cleaning work at any time without the plant pause. Moreover, it can prevent the safety accidents because human operators are not necessary to enter directly the sludge cisterns. This paper shows the performance of cleaning work that can be applied in the industrial field through the design and development of underwater cleaning robot platform. And these results demonstrate that the developed underwater cleaning robot has great possibilities to clean other industrial water cisterns.

Smart phone that have touch screen, sound input/output, network and various sensor functions to robot platform that have simplicity function of power and motor etc. graft together and embodied so that can achieve function of remote control, home automation, game machine, R-running race etc. Phone used in the study of the Bluetooth communication sending and receiving data between the robot and from a remote computer over the Internet via WI-FI is designed to perform communication.

Optimizing Movement of A Multi-Joint Robot Arm with Existence of Obstacles Using Multi-Purpose Genetic Algorithm

  • To optimize movement of a multi-joint robot arm is known to be a difficult problem, because it is a kind of redundant system. Although the end-effector is set its position by each angle of the joints, the angle of each joint cannot be uniquely determined by the position of the end-effector. There exist the infinite number of different sets of joint angles which represent the same position of the end-effector. This paper describes how to manage the angle of each joint to move its end-effector preferably on an X-Y plane with obstacles in the end-effector’s reachable area, and how to optimize the movement of a multi-joint robot arm, evading obstacles. The definition of “preferable” movement depends upon a purpose of robot operation. First, we divide viewpoints of preference into two, 1) the standpoint of the end-effector, and 2) the standpoint of joints. Then, we define multiple objective functions, and formulate it into a multi-objective programming problem. Finally, we solve it using multi-purpose genetic algorithm, and obtain reasonable results. The method described here is possible to add appropriate objective function if necessary for the purpose.

Finite Element Analysis for the Safety Assessment of Take-out Robot (취출로봇의 안전성 평가를 위한 유한요소해석)

  • Take-out robots used for handling of the plastic parts manufactured with the injection mold are usually the gantry type that consists of long and thin links. In this study, we want to evaluate the safety of the take-out Robot structure through finite element analysis. The take-out Robot is automated robot to transport from one location to another in the molded article. The take-out Robot structure has a 380 kilogram weight, a 1300mm width, a 670.5mm depth and a 670mm height. It confirms the equivalent stress and the deformation of the load and its own weight through weight analysis. It looks for the natural frequency of the take-out robot through modal analysis. It confirms the acceleration, the normal stress and the deformation about the natural frequency of the take-out robot through response analysis. Also It repeats the analysis by changing the structure of the take-out robot, to confirm the results and it is determined whether the safety of the structure. These analysis results are effectively used to reduce the vibration of the take-out robot.

  • Home service robot are not working in the fixed task such as industrial robot, because they are together with human in the same indoor space, but have to do in much more flexible and various environments. Most of them are developed on the base of the wheel-base mobile robot in the same method as a vehicle robot for factory automation. In these days, for holonomic system characteristics, omni-directional wheels are used in the mobile robot. A holonomicrobot, using omni-directional wheels, is capable of driving in any direction. But trajectory control for omni-directional mobile robot is not easy. Especially, azimuth control which sensor uncertainty problem is included is much more difficult. This paper develops trajectory controller of 3-wheels omni-directional mobile robot using fuzzy azimuth estimator. A trajectory controller for an omni-directional mobile robot, which each motor is controlled by an individual PID law to follow the speed command from inverse kinematics, needs a precise sensing data of its azimuth and exact estimation of reference azimuth value. It has imprecision and uncertainty inherent to perception sensors for azimuth. In this paper, they are solved by using fuzzy logic inference which can be used straightforward to perform the control of the mobile robot by means of the fuzzy behavior-based scheme already existent in literature. Finally, the good performance of the developed mobile robot is confirmed through live tests of path control task.

A Study on High Speed Laser Welding by using Scanner and Industrial Robot (스캐너와 산업용 로봇을 이용한 고속 레이저 용접에 관한 연구)

  • On this research, laser welding technology for manufacturing automobile body is studied. Laser welding technology is one of the important technologies used in the manufacturing of lighter, safer automotive bodies at a high level of productivity; the leading automotive manufacturers have replaced spot welding with laser welding in the process of car body assembly. Korean auto manufacturers are developing and applying the laser welding technology using a high output power Nd:YAG laser and a 6-axes industrial robot. On the other hand, the robot-based remote laser welding system was equipped with a long focal laser scanner system in robotic end effect. Laser system, robot system, and scanner system are used for realizing the high speed laser welding system. The remote laser welding system and industrial robotic system are used to consist of robot-based remote laser welding system. The robot-based remote laser welding system is flexible and able to improve laser welding speed compared with traditional welding as spot welding and laser welding. The robot-based remote laser systems used in this study were Trumpf's 4kW Nd:YAG laser (HL4006D) and IPG's 1.6kW Fiber laser (YLR-1600), while the robot systems were of ABB's IRB6400R (payload:120kg) and Hyundai Heavy Industry's HX130-02 (payload:130kg). In addition, a study of quality evaluation and monitoring technology for the remote laser welding was conducted. The welding joints of steel plate and steel plate coated with zinc were butt and lapped joints. The quality testing of the laser welding was conducted by observing the shape of the beads on the plate and the cross-section of the welded parts, analyzing the results of mechanical tension test, and monitoring the plasma intensity and temperature by using UV and IR detectors. Over the past years, Trumf's 4kW Nd:YAG laser and ABB's IRB6400R robot system was used. Nowadays, the new laser source, robot and laser scanner system are used to increase the processing speed and to improve the efficiency of processes. This paper proposes the robot-based remote laser welding system as a means of resolving the limited welding speed and accuracy of conventional laser welding systems.
