A Review on the Relationship of Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene

  • Objective: The objective of this paper is to examine the scope of ergonomics in relation to the discipline of industrial hygiene. Background: There has been increasing recognition of the importance of ergonomics in the practice of industrial hygiene. As a result, quite a number of ergonomics-related research articles have been published in major industrial hygiene journals. And the professional engineers in industrial hygiene have conducted ergonomics-related activities. Method: This paper reports the results from the literature review of the ergonomics papers published in major industrial hygiene journals for the last 5 years, and the certification of industrial hygiene and ergonomics. Results: It was found that 7.7~13% of the total published papers were about ergonomics, and the number of the professional engineers in industrial hygiene is almost double of that of ergonomics. Conclusion: It should be understood that the work of ergonomic is complementary to industrial hygiene and not in competition with it. Application: Some suggestions were proposed hopefully helpful to colleague ergonomists for future research.

정규화 콘팁저항치와 OCR의 관계상수에 관한 연구 (Study on the Relation Constant between OCR and Normalized Net Cone Tip Resistance)

  • 본 연구에서는 현재 OCR(과압밀비) 값 결정을 위하여 실용적으로 많이 활용되고 있는 경험적 방법인 정규화 콘팁저항치과 과압밀비의 관계상수법에 대하여 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 창원 북면 및 인천 서북면 지역의 연약점 토지반에 대하여 관계상수를 산정하고 고찰하였다. 연구결과, 관계상수 값은 창원북면의 경우 0.28~0.33, 인천 서북면의 경우 0.49~0.6으로, 해외의 기존 연구결과 보다 최대 90% 크게 비안전측으로 산정되어 향후 콘팁저항치와 과압밀비의 관계상수법 사용에 주의가 필요하다 하겠다.

  • 본 연구에서는 ISO, MIRA, 그리고 Wong에 의해 제안된 노면 PSD 함수를 기초의 3차원 노면의 생성 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 주어진 노면 거칠기 특성이 PSD 함수를 사용하여 2차원 노면을 생성한 뒤 상관도를 고려하여 횡방향으로 연속적으로 배치함으로써 실제 노면 특성에 유사한 3차원 노면을 생성하였다. 생성된 노면의 상관도를 평가한 결과 실제 노면의 상관도 특성과도 잘 일치함을 확인하였다. 또한, 3차원 노면을 자동으로 생성하기 위하여 반복적으로 횡방향 노면을 생성시켜 주는 프로그램을 개발하였다.

미국의 산업집적 추이와 도로교통망의 인과관계 분석 (Evolution of Industrial Agglomeration and Its Causal Relation with Road Networks in the U.S.)

  • 산업집적은 경제지리학에서 오랫동안 연구되어온 주제 중의 하나이며 지금까지 다양한 방법을 통해 산업집적 현상을 설명하고 이의 영향을 평가해왔다. 하지만 시계열 데이터를 이용해 집적의 추이를 살펴본 연구는 아직 활발히 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 연구는 지난 29년 간의 데이터를 이용해 사례로 선정된 산업들의 집적 정도를 평가하고 이러한 시계열 패턴과 도로 네트워크의 확장이 어떠한 인과관계를 맺고 있는 지 살펴보고 있다. 집적 정도를 측정한 결과 사례로 선정된 산업의 종사자들은 지리적으로 균등하게 분포되지 않고 있었다. 또한 사례 산업들 간에 공통된 시계열적 변화 특성은 나타나지 않았으나 각 산업의 발전 단계 및 비즈니스 환경 변화가 개별 산업의 집적 정도에 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 보이고 있다. 집적 정도와 도로교통망 사이의 관계를 살펴보기 위해 각 산업 별로 Granger causality test를 실시하였고 도로 교통망이 산업 집적에 영향을 주고 있음을 몇몇 사례를 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 이와 반대의 경우 혹은 상호 간에 영향을 주는 사례도 나타나 교통망과 산업집적이 보다 복잡한 관계를 맺고 있음을 보여준다.

Philosophical Modernity Rooted in Modern Movement with Furniture

  • This study explored the philosophical Modernity with the Enlightenment in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism rooted in Modern furniture, which directly reflected modern culture and society with rationality, science, individualism, progressive, universal truths, etc, using qualitative analysis about the related literature as the principal methodology. A fundamental philosophy of the modern furniture influenced by Industrial Revolution is that the dictates of function and industrial technology must be decided by form. The theory and practice of the International Style in modern furniture came from the modern aesthetics in the philosophy of Modernity. As a result, as influenced through the Enlightenment project and the relationship of individual to society in relation to cultural and aesthetic modernism, and the three modern movements with furniture, which are Arts and Crafts movement, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco, represented the beginning style of modern furniture design toward functionalism or minimalism.

중공업에서의 근골격계질환과 직무스트레스의 관계에 관한 연구 (Study of the Relation Between Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders and Job Stress in Heavy Industry)

  • The Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders(WMSDs) have been an rising issue since the 1970s. So many manufacturing companies have been tried to improve the work environments for the control and the prevention of the WMSDs. Specific risk factors associated with WMSDs include repetitive motion, heavy lifting, forceful exertion, contact stress, vibration, awkward posture and rapid hand and wrist movement. But recently it has reported that besides working conditions, job stress is the important hazard causes which lead to WMSDs. This study investigates the relation between WMSDs and Job stress from 1426 workers in Heavy Industry. Job stress was evaluated by Karasek's model. Job stress was associated with job satisfaction. Job demand was associated with the WMSDs, but job control was not associated with the WMSDs. The results can be used to design the management program for the WMSDs and the job stress.

지하절 종사자의 작업능력과 직무스트레스 평가에 관한 연구 (The Evaluation of Work Ability and Job Stress for Subway Worker)

  • Work ability and job stress have become the important issues in Korean workplace recently. This study researched work ability and job stress and also analyzed correlation with work ability and job stress using the Work Ability Index and the Karasek's Job Content Questionnaire against 742 subway workers. As the results, Work ability in subway workers was good in general. The relation between job stress and job type showed statistical significance (p<0.05). The relation between job stress and diseases showed statistical significance in musculoskeletal disorders(p<0.05), heart disease, and gastrointestinal disease. The correlations between work ability and job stress showed statistical significance in job demand and social support(p<0.05). The result of this study could be useful to manage the work ability of aging worker and the job stress in industry.

알루미늄 합금 주물의 냉각 속도에 따른 기계적 성질 예측 (Effect of Cooling Rate on the Prediction of Mechanical Properties of Al Alloys)

  • In this study, a more practical and simulation approach which can predict the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys is proposed. First, cooling rate, micro-structure, and mechanical properties of casting product were measured through casting experiment. The relation between cooling rate and SDAS decrease exponentially and the linearly decreasing relation exist between SDAS and mechanical properties. Then, the cooling rate was calculated by casting process simulation and the mechanical properties were predicted by using the relations that were derived through experiment. Experimentally measured mechanical properties and predicted values by simulation were in the range of relatively small difference. The mechanical properties of various Al alloys are expected to be predicted by the casting process simulation before actual casting.
