Stenver's 법을 이용한 인공와우관 환자의 촬영에 관한 연구 (Stenver's Radiographic Assessment of the Multichannel Cochlear Implant)

  • To assess the new multichannel cochlear implant by radiography in Stenver's projection, because MRI generates artifacts, inducing an electrical current and causing device magnetization. CT is relatively expensive and the metal electrodes scatter the image. Multichannel cochlear implant insertion using the multichannel cochlear implant device. Patients underwent postoperative radiography of their implants. The radiographs were obtained in a Stenver's. The insertion depth of the implant was measured on the radiographs and the results were correlated with the surgical results of insertion depth and with audiometric tests. Patients a correct inserted electrode was found, while in patient complications concerning the electrode were noticed. Radiographs in the Stenver's projection are sufficient for the postoperative assessment of the multichannel cochlear implant device and an exact evaluation of the insertion depth.

계장핵연료 조사시험용 실튜브 레이저용접기술 (Laser Welding of Seal Tube for Instrumented Irradiation Fuel Test)

  • This work was carried out to obtain sound welds and to select a most suitable binary metal joint among three different dissimilar binary metal combinations such as Zr-4/Ta, Mo/Ta and Ti/Ta(seal tube/sensor sheath) joints fur the instrumented nuclear fuel irradiation test. To do this, Taguchi experimental method was employed to optimize the experimental data. In addition, metallography, micro-focus x-ray radiography and hardness test were conducted to examine the welds. From the weld bead appearance, penetration depth and bead width as well as weld defects standpoint, Zr-4/Ta joint is suggested for the circumferential joining between a seal tube and a sensor sheath. The optimized welding parameters based on Zr-4/Ta joint are suggested as well.

  • 국내 감마선투과검사용 조사장치는 1,000여대로 2,500여명의 종사자가 대부분 수동으로 원격 조작하는 실정으로 작업의 효율화와 방사선피폭 저감화를 위하여 자동 원격조작기의 사용이 요구된다. 이에 연구팀은 실무에 적합한 토크와 안전계수로부터 $54kgf{\cdot}cm$의 출력을 지닌 24V, 200W의 BLDC모터를 이용하여 $0.4{\sim}1.2m/s$ 범위의 선원 이동 속도를 조절할 수 있는 구동장치와 RF 센서로 구동 속도 조절, 광전센서에 의한 선원 위치 및 timer로 노출시간을 제어할 수 있는 무선 원격조작기를 개발하였다. 이와 같이 개발한 자동원격조작기는 AC 와 DC 겸용, 그리고 기존의 수통 원격조작기에 탈착이 가능하여 자동과 수동을 겸용할 수 있는 경제적 이점 등으로 활용도가 클 것으로 기대된다.

금속 내부의 이물질 검출 향상을 위한 X-ray 영상 보정 모델 (X-ray Image Correction Model for Enhanced Foreign Body Detection in Metals)

  • 자외선보다 파장이 짧은 X-선은 투과력이 매우 좋아 산업 분야 및 의료분야에 융합되어 많이 사용되고 있다. 특히 산업분야에서는 비파괴 검사 장비인 x-ray를 이용하여 금속과 같은 제품의 생산 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 금속 내부의 이물질에 검출에 대한 연구가 다양하게 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. X-ray 영상 이미지를 디지털 방식으로 획득하는 DR(Digital Radiography) 방사선 촬영 방식의 확산으로 디텍터의 사용이 활발해지고 있으나 내부의 센서 잡음 및 감도에 따라 이물질 검출이 불가능한 경우도 발생하고 있다. 금속 제품을 생산할 경우 이물질의 혼입으로 생산 제품의 불량률이 높아질 수 있기에 정확한 검출이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 금속 내부의 이물질과 같은 결함 검출의 효율을 향상시키기 위하여 획득한 X-ray 이미지의 보정 모델을 제안한다. 제안 모델을 통하여 금속 제품 생산 공정의 불량 검출에 적용하면 제품 결함의 검출을 정확하고 신속하게 처리할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Geometric calibration of a computed laminography system for high-magnification nondestructive test imaging

  • Nondestructive testing, which can monitor a product's interior without disassembly, is becoming increasingly essential for industrial inspection. Computed laminography (CL) is widely used in this application, as it can reconstruct a product, such as a printed circuit board, into a three-dimensional (3D) high-magnification image using X-rays. However, such high-magnification scanning environments can be affected by minute vibrations of the CL device, which can generate motion artifacts in the 3D reconstructed image. Since such vibrations are irregular, geometric corrections must be performed at every scan. In this paper, we propose a geometry calibration method that can correct the geometric information of CL scans based on the image without using geometry calibration phantoms. The proposed method compares the projection and digitally reconstructed radiography images to measure the geometric error. To validate the proposed method, we used both numerical phantom images at various magnifications and images obtained from real industrial CL equipment. The experiment results confirmed that sharpness and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were improved.

모 규조토 가공 업체의 규조토 분진 폭로에 의한 규조토폐증 유병에 관한 조사 (A Study on Workers Exposed to Diatomaceous Earth Dust and Development of Pneumoconiosis in a Diatomite Factory)

  • Diatomaceous earth, quarried from the remains of aquatic plants deposited millions of years ago, continues to be a very important raw material with many industrial uses. In its natural state, diatomaceous earth is an amorphous silica with no crystalline pattern. For many uses, however, it is calcinated and calcination converts a portion of the amorphous silica to a crystalline form, cristobalite which is far more fibrogenic. In a factory which produces calcinated diatomaceous earth, seven workers were proved as pneumoconiosis on 1991 and 1992. Authors reviewed medical chart and current status of them. Authors also examined thirty one subjects from the factory with questionnaire, physical examination, spirometry and chest radiography on August 13th 1993. The radiographs were independently interpreted by two radiologists and their findings were classified by International Classification of Radiography of Pneumoconiosis(ILO, 1980). Total and respirable dust of diatomaceous earth were measured on October 1993. The results were as follows; 1. Of 31 workers, 6 (19.4%) were diagnosed as diatomaceous earth pneumoconiosis. There was an increasing tendency in prevalence of pneumoconiosis as the duration of dust exposure gets longer. 2. There were no significant differences in age, smoking rate, alcohol drinking rate, and pulmonary function test results between cases and non-cases. 3. The means of total dust exposures at flour manufacturing, fire brick grinding and packaging, ceramic raws packaging processes exceeded Korean and ACGIH standards, $10mg/m^3$. Above results suggest that engineering controls, periodic environmental and medical surveillance are important for preventing pneumoconiosis in the diatomite factory.

Ir-192 밀봉선원의 표면오염 방지 (Microscopic Examination of Fracture Particles on the Surface of Ir-192 Sealed Source and Ultrasonic Cleaning)

  • The iridium disc, generally used in industrial radiography, is examined to find the fracture morphology and fine particles remaining on the shear blank surface. Randomly selected 1,200 discs were observed under a scanning electron microscope tilted more than $45^{\circ}$. Fracture surfaces are classified into three groups: (1) surface fall-out, (2) fracture on the edge and (3) multi-step brittle fracture, which shows the mutual relationship between the fracture morphology and remaining particles. Fracture particles were removed by cleaning the discs in a ultrasonic bath with acetone and collected at the bottom. Removed number of the particles were counted for each different group of fracture surfaces. Followings are conclusions: (1) About 80.5% of discs (966/1,200), have sound plastic shear surfaces with particles remained. (2) About 2% discs accompany surface fall-out's having large particles tens of ${\mu}m$, which is stable not to be pulled out even after the considerably long time of ultrasonic cleaning. (3) About 5% discs contain the fractures on the edge and the particles are removed thoroughly within 30 minutes. (4) 234 discs out of 1,200 discs have multi-step fracture surfaces whose particles never removed in a short period of time but come out very slowly. Such a disc having multiple-step fracture is attributed to the promate cause to the 'leaker'. It is noted here that the discs having mutiple-step fractures should be treated separately with special care, and it is need to study how to treat them.

산업용 CR영상의 기하학적 데이터 분석과 의사결정나무에 의한 측정 패턴인식 (Measuring Pattern Recognition from Decision Tree and Geometric Data Analysis of Industrial CR Images)

  • 의사결정나무를 구성하여 강판튜브 비파괴평가에 사용하는 산업용 CR영상의 측정 패턴인식을 도모한다. 본래 비파괴평가는 기계학습기법에 의한 패턴식별과 그 분류에 적합한 분야이다. 의사결정나무의 속성들은 비파괴평가 테스트 절차로부터 취한다. 방사선조사 입사각, 경사도 및 거리 둥의 기하학적 특성들은 입력 영상 데이터 분석으로부터 추정한다. 이 요소들은 대상 입력을 의사결정나무에서 미리 정해진 분류에로 정확히 그리고 쉽게 분류가 이루어지도록 한다. 이 알고리즘은 비파괴평가 결과의 특성화를 간단히 하며 특성 결정을 간편하게 한다. 실험 결과는 제안한 알고리즘의 유용성을 보였다.

3차원 CT자료에서 선정된 계측점을 정중시상면으로 투사한 영상과 두부계측방사선사진상의 계측정의 위치 비교 (Comparison of landmark position between conventional cephalometric radiography and CT scans projected to midsagittal plane)

  • 본 연구는 두부계측방사선사진에서 선정한 계측점과, 3차원 CT영상에서 계측점을 선정하고 이를 정중시상면으로 투영하였을때 두 계측점 사이의 위치적 연관성에 대해 알아보고자 시행하였다. III급 부정교합을 주소로 서울대학교 치과병원에 내원한 환자 20명을 대상으로 술 전에 CT와 두부방사선사진을 촬영하였다. CT자료에서 계측점을 선정하고, 정중시상면을 기준으로 투사영상을 얻은 후에 이것을 110%로 확대하였다. 전두면과 후두골의 외연을 기준으로 두부방사선사진 투사도와 CT자료의 정중시상면 투사영상을 중첩하고, FH평면을 기준으로 공통 좌표계를 설정하였다. 이 좌표계를 기준으로 얻은 계측점 좌표값 차이의 평균과 표준편차를 구하고 paired t test를 시행하였다. X축은 $-0.14{\pm}0.65$에서 $-2.12{\pm}2.89\;mm$, Y축은 $0.34{\pm}0.78$에서 $-2.36{\pm}2.55\;mm$ ($6.79{\pm}3.04\;mm$)의 범위를 보였으며, 20개의 계측점 중 X축은 9개에서, Y축은 7개에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 오차는 촬영자세에 따라 악골의 위치가 변화한 경우, 골단부에 위치함으로써 주변구조물에 가려진 경우, 해부학적 구조물의 중첩에 따른 식별오차, 계측점의 정의가 다른 경우 발생할 수 있다.

Quasi-monochromatic Parallel Radiography Achieved with a Polycapillary Plate

  • Fundamental study on quasi-monochromatic parallel radiography using a polycapillary plate and a plane-focus x-ray tube is described. The x-ray generator consists of a negative high-voltage power supply, a filament (hot cathode) power supply, and an x-ray tube. The negative high-voltage is applied to the cathode electrode, and the transmission type target (anode) is connected to the ground potential. The maximum voltage and current of the power supply were -100 kV (peak value) and 3.0 mA, respectively. In this experiment, the tube voltage was regulated from 20 to 25 kV, and the tube current was regulated by the filament temperature and ranged from 1.0 to 3.0 mA. The exposure time is controlled in order to obtain optimum film density, and the focal spot diameter was about 10 mm. The polycapillary plate is J5022-21 made by Hamamatsu Photonics Inc., and the outside and effective diameters are 87 and 77 mm, respectively. The thickness and the hole diameter of the polycapillary are 1.0 mm and 25 ${\mu}$m, respectively. The x-rays from the tube are formed into parallel beam by the polycapillary, and the radiogram is taken using an industrial x-ray film of Fuji IX 100 without using a screen. In the measurement of image resolution, we employed three brass spacers of 2, 30, and 60 mm in height. By the test chart, the resolution fell according to increases in the spacer height without using a polycapillary. In contrast, the resolution slightly fell with corresponding increases in the height by the polycapillary. In angiography, fine blood vessels of about 100 ${\mu}$m are clearly visible.
