  • Generally, fuel cell has characteristics of low voltage, large current and voltage variation under load change. Therefore, DC output voltage of fuel cell is too low to convert into AC with high efficiency and good performance. For this reason, fuel cell generating system is composed of DC-DC converter and inverter in cascade. This paper used 2-phase boost DC-DC converter to obtain low distortion waveform and reduce input-output current ripple, and discussed inverter which can be operated in independent drive mode and utility line interface drive mode. Then, the change of modes can be achived smoothly.

  • This paper presents the design and development of web control algorithm of continuous process control system using vector inverter. The Diameter of web is calculated, tension is controlled by PID control and the speed reference of motor is calculated at current diameter. The performance of web control in this paper is verified by experiment.

  • The diagnosis of power converter using auxiliary circuit connected to output terminal is proposed and verified by experimental results in this paper. On contrary to conventional diagnosis method, the proposed monitoring technique is possible to measure the state of power converter and unbalanced output caused by a misfiring of switch and unusual control signal. Conventional method gives a monitoring approaches for only a unusual operation of power converter. In this paper, three signals with auxiliary circuit are obtained and analyzed to see the state of electrolytic capacitor, power semiconductor switches and output voltage balance. 2kVA inverter is made and fisted to verify the proposed circuit.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 공정 Line중 TG Feed Back방식을 이용한 Control System은 매우 고가(高價)인 외산 TG임에도 불구하고 구동 Motor의 발열로 인하여 전압 검출부 Cabon Brush의 잦은 마모로 인한 오동작으로 작업의 문제점이 표출되어 생산성이 저하되고 품질 불만 및 불량품 발생으로 생산성에 큰 손실을 입고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 새로운 Inverter Control System을 개발하였다. 여기에 따른 파급 효과는 제품의 생산성 향상과 소모성 부품의 수입 대처 및 부분적 제어시스템의 국산화 효과를 확보 할 수 있다.

  • Nowadays, a Spot Welding system has been widely used in all kinds of industries and the common control method of the systeme is a simple current control using SCR. But, that kind of system is less effective than a current control method using inverter. So, it is constantly proposed that an improvement of hard ware and control method of spot welding system in compliance with technological advancement in power electronics. This paper deals with spot welding system using inverter. Especially, it deals with hard ware structure, features and output characteristics.

  • Recently, AC variable-speed motors are used for many steel rolling mill drive systems, because of their low maintenance and enhanced control performance. We have been applied GTO inverters for these AC motor drive systems since 1993. We have developed world largest 6-inch diameter GTO and large capacity 3-level GTO inverter up to 20000(kVA). As an example, in this paper, we describe the main circuit, system arrangement and control features of the 6-inches GTO inverters to drive rougher mills for hot strip mill of Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. The motor capacity is 6000(kW), and it's overload is 250(%).

  • Ceramic metal halide lamps have been widely used due to long lifetime, high luminous efficiency and good colour rendering. In this paper, we developed dimming control system of electronic ballast for 70W ceramic metal halide lamp by using 1-10V interface. The proposed electronic ballast is consists of EMI filter, Full-wave rectifier, Active PFC, DBI(Dual Buck Inverter), Igniter and control circuit.It enables to supply both low-frequency rectangular wave voltage and current to the lamp by using DBI(Dual Bcuk Inverter) structure. By using 1-10V interface, the system that able to dimming the lamp is demonstrated by P-spice simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a novel prototype of a current source resonant inverter using insulated gate bipolar transistors for driving a streamer reactor, streamer generation technology has been recognized as one of the best methods for water treatment, disinfection, industrial wastes utilization, and so on. However, some technological difficulties related to efficient streamer production have been significant problems restricting streamer usage in the industrial plants. Introduced in this paper is a pulse density modulated high frequency inverter for a plasma generate, which is developed with the aim to improve power conversion and control characteristics of the streamer reactor by using advances in power electronic technology. The developed system implements the feedforward control-based pulse density modulation control scheme with pulse width modulation feedback control strategy to compensate temperature and other environmental influences on streamer discharge.

SVPWM Overmodulation Scheme of Three-Level Inverters for Vector Controlled Induction Motor Drives

  • This paper describes a SVPWM overmodulation scheme of NPC type three-level inverter for traction drives which extends the modulation index from MI=0.907 to unity. SVPWM strategy is organized by two operation modes of under-modulation and over-modulation. The switching states under the under-modulation modes are determined by dividing them with two linear regions and one hybrid region the same as the conventional three-level inverter. On the other hand, under the over-modulation mode, they are generated by doing it with two over-modulation regions the same as the conventional over-modulation strategy of a two level inverter. Following the description of over-modulation scheme of a three-level inverter, the system description of a vector controlled induction motor for traction drives has been discussed. Finally, the validity of the proposed modulation algorithm has been verified through simulation and experimental results.
