The data were collected by self reporting questionnaires from June to December in 1997. Those data were analyzed percentile, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, t-test with SAS program. Major findings are as follows; 1. The total mean score of the employees' HPL performance was 2.66. The average scores of 'harmonious relationships' category were the highest as 3.11, whereas the one of 'professional health maintenance' were the lowest as 2.02. The regulation for performing the health promotion programs in the industries is essential for activating industrial health promoting movement. 2. More governmental supports for educations and services for health promotion programs in the industries are needed. 3. For behavioral changes of the employees, the contents of educations have to consist of exercise and activity, rest and sleep, diet and smoking habits. 4. • The purpose of this study is to measure the level of the key competencies of industrial high school students and to use it as the basic material so as to improve the key competencies. The subject was 359 industrial high school students(boys: 244, girls: 115) in Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Busan. The instrument used to measure the key competencies is that developed by Cheol-Young Jeong, which was partly revised with the help of a group of experts. The results of this study showed some of skills were below an average of 3.0, which were writting skill(M=2.85) and speaking skill(M=2.96) in communication skills, logical thinking(M=2.98) in problem solving skills, leadership skill(M=2.88) in interpersonal skills, and self-improvement skill(M=2.96) and the spirit of public service(M=2.93) in self-management and self-improvement skills. But technology skills were above an average of 3.0. And it appeared that technology skills(P=.023) depended on having a certificate or not, and so did communication skills(P=.020) and problem solving skills(P=.034) on the types of a course(employment or entrance into a college). So, to strengthen the key competencies which appeared below an average of 3.0 in this study, not only does the curriculum of industrial high schools need to be reorganized, but systematic strengthening program of key competencies should also be developed.

  • A pendulum of industrial education begins to shift from one based on industrialized society to one on information-based age. To produce an effective result in this situation, It is necessary that an accurate estimate of a change in the circumstances of industrial high schools of Gyeonggi-do. This study researched the province's characteristics and countermeasures on industrial education adjusting the change of industrial environments by regional groups and suggested the solutions as follows. First, This study classified Gyeonggi-do into 9 regions considering the region's respective industrial structure and suggested the structure adjustment plan. Second, This study suggested '3-type curriculum management plan' based on the structure adjustment plan of industrial high schools. It includes employment-centered curriculum which provides the human resources required by industrial community, foundation-centered curriculum which revitalizes starting up a enterprises and clears up the manpower problems, college preparation-centered curriculum which meets the need of the students who are much interested in going to the next stage of education. Third, this study suggested a solution to a problem of surplus industry teacher. It includes 3 methods: Increasing practical training from 2 ours to 3 hours, assigning teachers for a task of academic-industrial collaboration and career counseling, qualifying industrial teachers for another course by minor. An amicable settlement on these matters requires a systematic administrative and financial support based on closely connected governmental-academic-industrial collaboration.
