  • Speed control without speed sensor is expected strongly to progress reliability, simplicity and cost performance of I.M and to expand its application part. This paper investigates a novel speed estimation method of I.M considering the secondary resistance identification based on the transientless torque control technique. Especially, this paper aimed at the identification of the secondary resistance simultaneously with speed estimation. For this, the secondary flux with some frequency is controlled independently on torque. The proposed speed estimation method is derived from a motor circuit equation theoretically and also it can be conducted easily by detecting primary motor currents and primary voltage commands at every sampling time. Some numerical simulations with the assumption of using a pulse width modulation(PWM) voltage source inverter and experimental results are performed to verify the proposed method.

  • A direct torque control(DTC) based sensorless speed control system which employs a new closed loop flux observer is proposed. The flux observer is an adaptive gain scheduling observer where motor speed is used as the scheduling variable. Adaptive nature comes from the fact that the estimates of stator resistance and speed are included as observer parameters. Simulation results show that the proposed flux observer gives better control and estimation results than conventional flux estimator specially in low speed region.

  • Real-time monitoring and control of the cutting force is essential for unmanned cutting process. Although the cutting force can be measured directly using tool dynamometers, their implementation is not feasible in industry due to high cost. Alternative approach is the cutting force estimation based on spindle drive models, but it requires the knowledge of their characteristics with the spindle speed variation. This paper investigates the power-factor and frictional characteristics of three-phase induction motors and determines its characteristics below and above the base speed, respectively. In order to realize the proposed cutting force monitoring system, a stand-alone DSP board was utilized. Its monitoring and control performance is evaluated in a CNC lathe.

  • Maglev is the vehicle which can run in levitated condition by the electro-magnets, and propelled by linear induction motors. The Maglev is divided in two parts such as carbody and bogies, and the bogies are the driving device of the vehicle. The frame of the bogie must endure many loads occurred in the operation of the vehicle. So the bogie frame is designed and manufactured in the view of good safety and maintainability. The methods of design of frames are developed in regards of stresses and weights of structures. In this research, the extrusion of bogie frame is re-designed by the process of topology optimization with the ANSYS. By this process, the optimal shape of extrusion is acquired and additional optimization researches would be required in the view of size and shape of the members in the extrusion.

  • Direct Torque Control has the fast torque and flux dynamic response as we know. This dynamic performance is realized by the estimation of electromagnetic torque and stator flux linkages. Generally, the stator flux estimation is based on the stator voltage equation. The equation uses a pure integrator. If the equation is used without an encoder in Direct Torque Control, there is the drift problem. It is same to sensorless Stator Flux Orientation Control (SFO). In this paper a programmable low pass filter (LPF) is proposed for solving the problem in Direct Torque Control.

  • This paper presents simulation and test results of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Sychronous Motor) Controller. PMSM has higher efficiency and torque per volume than other motors because PMSM use permanent magnet of high energy density instead of field winding. PMSM control system also more efficient than Induction Motor's. In this paper, simulation and test to control speed and current of PMSM using DSP was accomplished.

  • Most adjustable-speed drives(ASDs) designed to operate 220[V] induction motors incorporate voltage-source inverters (VSIs), which create motor voltages at high switching frequencies. The motor leads used to connect an ASD to a motor can behave like transmission lines for voltage pulses, which can be amplified (reflected) at the motor terminals. The resulting oscillatory transient, known as the long-lead effect, can stress and consequently degrade the statorinsulation system of a motor. This Brief describes the results of tests to 1) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the length of motor leads and 2) determine the correlation between peak motor voltage and the switching frequency of the ASD Insulation failures like this usually are caused by voltage surges. Voltage surges are often the result of switching power circuits, lightning strikes, capacitor discharges and solid-state power devices.

  • Faults in induction motors can be categorized into mechanical faults and electrical faults, and most mechanical faults result from inferiority or damage of the bearing, while most electrical faults derive from insulation faults of stator windings and rotor bar cracks. When a crack appears on the rotor bar, its efficiency decreases, which increases energy consumption and temperature, reducing the life span of the motor. This kind of fault can only be sensed by the protection relay after the condition has worsened to a certain degree, bringing massive economic loss. This paper will deal with the diagnosis method of rotor bar faults through the load current analysis method of the motor used during operation.

  • This Paper presents a vector control method for the parallel-connected motor drive system. The new estimation scheme of rotor flux position is presented to reduce sensitivity due to load difference between the motors. To confirm the validity of the proposed control method, we compare a simulation result of the proposed control method with that of the conventional indirect vector control method. The simulation results show that the proposed control method is more effective step change in load torque.
