Oxide semiconductors such as zinc tin oxide (ZTO) or indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) have attracted a lot of research interest owing to their high potential for application as thin film transistors (TFTs) [1,2]. However, the instability of oxide TFTs remains as an obstacle to overcome for practical applications to electronic devices. Several studies have reported that the electrical characteristics of ZnO-based transistors are very sensitive to oxygen, hydrogen, and water [3,4,5]. To improve the reliability issue for the amorphous InGaZnO (a-IGZO) thin-film transistor, back channel passivation layer is essential for the long term bias stability. In this study, we investigated the instability of amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (IGZO) thin film transistors (TFTs) by the back channel contaminations. The effect of back channel contaminations (humidity or oxygen) on oxide transistor is of importance because it might affect the transistor performance. To remove this environmental condition, we performed vacuum seasoning before the deposition of hybrid passivation layer and acquired improved stability. It was found that vacuum seasoning can remove the back channel contamination if a-IGZO film. Therefore, to achieve highly stable oxide TFTs we suggest that adsorbed chemical gas molecules have to be eliminated from the back-channel prior to forming the passivation layers.

Insulating and conducting 12CaO ${\cdot}7Al_2O_3$ (Cl2A7)-doped indium tin oxide (ITO) (ITO:Cl2A7 insulator and electride) thin films were deposited on glass substrates by an RF magnetron co-sputtering method with increasing number of insulating and conducting Cl2A7 target chips. The structural, electrical and optical properties of these films were investigated. The carrier concentration decreased and resistivity increased in the films with increasing number of Cl2A7 target chips. The optical transmittance of all of the thin films was above 80 % in the visible wavelength range. The structural property and surface roughness of the films were examined and the decrease of crystallinity and surface roughness was strongly dependent on the change of grain size.
Indium tin oxide(ITO) films coated on the window glass selectively transmit the solar energy and infrared. We call this system passive solar collectors. Selectively absorbing properties of sol gel dip coated ITO films were characterized by UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy. The effects of heat treating temperature, time, atmosphere, substrate and barrier layers are concerned. Indium tin oxide films heat-treated at $500^{\circ}C$ in a reducing atmosphere show intrinsic properties. Efficiency of solar energy transmittance was enhanced by coating of $SiO_2-ZrO_2$ as an alkali ion barrier layer. Energy was saved by the double layers of $SiO_2-ZrO_2$ and ITO since solar energy is transmitted and heat generated inside(${\lambda}$ > 2700nm) is reflected.
The characteristics of indium tin oxide (ITO) thin film deposited on polyethersulfone (PES) film by low temperature E beam has been studied for the flexible photovoltaic devices. It was found that the substrate temperature in the deposition process affected the crystallization behavior of ITO during the post low temperature annealing process. Higher substrate temperature resulted in the increase of crystallinity of annealed ITO. Consequently, the lowering of sheet resistivity and better transmittance were obtained. Crystallization of ITO during the annealing process was facilitated by using oxygen gas in the deposition process and resulted in the enhancement on sheet resistivity and transmittance of ITO. The surface roughness of PES film prohibited the crystallization of ITO during the annealing process and it caused the increase of sheet resistivity and the decrease of transmittance of ITO.

Highly transparent and conducting tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) films were deposited on polycarbonate substrate by ion-assited deposition. Low substrate temperature (<10$0^{\circ}C$) was maintained during deposition to prevent the polycarbonate substrate from be deformed. The influence of ion beam energy, ion current density, and tin doping, on the structural, electrical and optical properties of deposited films was investigated. Indium oxide and tin-doped indium oxide (9 wt% SnO2) sources were evaporated with assisting ionized oxygen in high vacuum chamber at a pressure of 2$\times$10-5 torr and deposition temperature was varied from room temperature to 10$0^{\circ}C$. Oxygen gas was ionized and accelerated by cold hallow-cathode type ion gun at oxygen flow rate of 1 sccm(ml/min). Ion bea potential and ion current of oxygen ions was changed from 0 to 700 V and from 0.54 to 1.62 $\mu$A. The change of microstructure of deposited films was examined by XRD and SEM. The electrical resistivity and optical transmittance were measured by four-point porbe and conventional spectrophotometer. From the results of spectrophotometer, both the refractive index and the extinction coefficient were derived.
IZO thin films have been deposited on poly(ethylene terephthalate) flexible substrate under varying radio frequency (rf) power, process pressure and thickness of IZO films using rf magnetron sputtering under $Ar/O_2$ gas mix. As the process pressure increased, the deposition rate was slightly increased and the transmittance showed little change, but the resistivity was increased. With increasing rf power, the great increase in deposition rate was observed but the transmittance showed a slight change only, and the resistivity was decreased. In addition, an attempt was made to find the optimal thickness of IZO films under varying the thickness of IZO films at the process conditions of 1 mTorr pressure and 90 W rf power, which showed lowest resistivity. IZO thin films with the thickness of $1,500{\AA}$ showed lowest resistivity and also showed highest transmittance around the wavelength zone of the maximum absorption. The power conversion efficiency of solar cells fabricated using various transparent electrodes with different thicknesses were measured and the solar cell with IZO electrode of $1,500{\AA}$ showed the maximum conversion-efficiency of 2.88 %.

박막의 전자적, 광학적 특성은 XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), REELS(Reflection Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy)를 이용하여 연구하였다.
Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) films were fabricated by vacuum deposition technique and their microwave shielding properties were investigated for the application to the transparent shield material. The vacuum coating was conducted in a RF co-sputtering machine. The film composition and structure associated with the sputtering conditions (argon and oxygen pressure. substrate temperature. RF input power) were investigated for the attainment of high electrical conductivity and good transparency. The electrical conductivity of IT0 films fabricated under the optimum deposition conditions (substrate temperature : $300^{\circ}C$. Ar flow rate : 20 sccm, Oxygen flow rate : 10 sccm, In/Sn input power : 50/30 W) showed 5.6$\times10^4$mho/m. The optical transparency is also considerably good. The microwave shielding properties including the dominant shielding mechanism are investigated from the electrical conductivity, thickness and skin depth of the ITO films. The total shielding effectiveness is then estimated to be 26 dB, which provides a suggestion that the IT0 films can be effectively used as the transparent shield material.

Indium Zinc Tin Oxide (IZTO) thin films were developed as an alternative to Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin films. ITO material which has been acknowledged with its low resistivity and optical transparency of 85-90% has been used as major transparent conducting oxide (TCO) materials. However, due to the limited source, high price, and instability problems at high temperature of indium, many researches has been focused on indium-saving TCO materials. Mason Group of Northwestern University was reported to expand the solubility limit up to 40% by co-doping with 1:1 ratio of $Zn^{+2}$ and $Sn^{+4}$ ions. In this study, the properties of IZTO thin films corresponding to Zn/Sn different ratio were investigated. In addition, the effect of substrate temperature variable to the structural, optical and electrical properties of IZTO thin films was investigated.
This study was performed to observe the micro-structure change of surface, behavior of oxide change of element, the component transformation of the alloy and the bonding strength between the porcelain interface in order to investigate effects of indium, tin on interfacial properties of porcelain fused to low gold alloy. Hardness of castings was measured with a micro-Vicker's hardness tester. The compositional change of the surface of heat-treated specimen was analyzed with an EDS and an EPMA. The interfacial shear bonding strength between alloy specimen and fused porcelain was measured with a mechanical testing system(MTS 858.20). The results were as follows: 1) The hardness value of alloy increased as increasing amount of indium addition. 2) The formation of oxidation increased as increasing indium and tin contents after heat treatment. 3) Diffusion of indium and tin elements increased as increasing indium and tin contents in metal-porcelain surface after porcelain fused to metal firing. 4) The most interfacial shear bonding strength was increased as increasing a composition of adding elements, and a heat-treatment time, and an oxygen partial pressure. From the results of this study it was found that the addition of alloying elements such as indium and tin increase hardness of as-cast alloy, produce surface oxide layer of adding elements by heat-treatment which may improve interfacial bonding strength between alloy and porcelain.
